  • Say Hello to my Little Friend!
    I have plenty of history with this knife and if it's not broke, do not try to fix things..

    It's great to see a video from someone who actually used this knife all the time as a MOD piece of kit. I'm understanding this knife better as I hear a soldier discussing its uses and capabilities. The blade shape has a beauty all of its own. Notice the subtle widening of depth towards the end - pure magic for weight forward chopping. I will sharpen to razor the parts of the blade you mentioned. IMHO it is a true survival blade unlike all the Rambo knives out there.

    Good evening Mack, I purchased one of these beauties from Andy after viewing your review and also that of Funkyprepper last year.
    I Took delivery today of one of Andy's custom leather sheaths made to hold knife.
    The sheath Compliments the knife fantastically. I highly recommend both to anyone who is pondering purchasing 👍

    Mate, you must not be aware but the reason the Canadian bloke was likely comparing the Becker BK2 to the Mod4 is because when Ethan Becker designed the BK2, he based it on the Mod4 Utility Knife. You can see the basic shape of the BK2 is a knock off of the Mod4.

      Yes mate, I can see that.. It's a good tool just needs a goog edge putting in it and you are good to go.

    If you were in the Army you will know these were part of an Army tool box issue in any Army transport and not issued as such as a survival knife against being a shovel, a chisel, a hammer, a crowbar, a strong heavy knife etc. for many purposes but master of none. Many decades old by design, oversized to last, and thrown away if your pack was to heavy.as it's more important to carry water when you have too. I have three original one's but a lightweight takedown tomahawk would beat it all day long in use and carry.

    Down to earth and honest does for me, subbed. they do take some agro' those knives. £75?! Ouch they've gone up. I got a Mora now and a few others, Opinel #9 etc. I used a short bayonet for while.

    Не помешало бы сделать ножны из жести или листовой латуни...и вставить в английский чехол.А то так чехол ножик постепенно разрежет.

    It needs a saw back spine to be perfect.

    • @Surv1ve_Thrive
      @Surv1ve_Thrive 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find the spine is fine as is, for batoning etc. I think if mine had serrations they would be so bashed up as to be useless for cutting.

    • @galuyasdi
      @galuyasdi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And how many aircraft skins do you expect to fight your way out of. I have never owned nor would I a saw back knife. Useless.

    • @branni6538
      @branni6538 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah it batons just fine Nick. It is a great add to a fine knife if they did both.

    • @branni6538
      @branni6538 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @galuyasdi
      I can't precount how many planes I may need to fight out of. But given that that is a random comment I shall entertain you. If you need to ask why a saw back knife is great then you cannot figure out why. It's why your life will be less gravy than mine if you cannot figure out why. Given you haven't owned one or used one it's like asking a dude who can't swim for lessons in how to. Your opinion is meaningless.

    • @galuyasdi
      @galuyasdi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@branni6538 opinions are like assholes. Discount 65 years of experience if you like. Mine ranges from Vietnam, American Midwest, ky., tenn., Carolinas, the deserts, pacific Northwest, and Alaska. Yes. Sawtooth are useless if you know what you are doing. They are designed to rip through aircraft skin, not tree branches. A different tooth format. I stand by my statement. I've never known anyone who actually used those things except on helo skin, save for the fine teeth on a Gerber Mk2 for cutting into the water bearing vines in the jungle. They were great for that but their being on my Mk2 was the reason I had to leave the first one in Vietnam. I believe they got stuck to the ribs and I couldn't remove the knife. So yes, they are a liability.

    The tip is wrong and would not open a bag of chips!

    • @spigot993
      @spigot993 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wrong for what, opening bags of chips? For bashing out bricks in a wall, or taking a batoning through a log, or digging a shell scrape; ideal... for shaving you pubes or opening letters and your bag of piglets... maybe not, don't have girly hands.
