My dad taught me a very similar explosive trick to this one. However it's more dangerous as there is the potential for shrapnel.
You need some matches, 2 small bolts and a nut thats the same size as the bolts.
Scrape the heads off of a few matches and a bit of the striker srip.
Screw the nut about halfway on to the bolt.
Take the powder you created and pour some into the container that this creates.
Screw the other bolt into the other end of the nut until it's kind of squeezing the powder.
Pick it up by the head of one of the bolts and fire it at a hard surface with a good amount of force.
Please do not actually do this as it may very well result in having a bolt fired at your face.

@@freedomspatriot1585 Well gas doesn't ignite that easily. So, it is something you'd actually see in a movie that you probably couldn't get to work in real life. You can throw a match into a bucket of gas and the gasoline won't ignite (UNLESS you happen to have perfect conditions, including gasoline vapor, so don't get cocky and try it)
Shane Dobson If I’ve got a puddle of gasoline uncompressed, not contained, I guarantee you it will ignite. Personal experience. It won’t be violent, by any means, but it will ignite.

@@freedomspatriot1585 No it would not ignite when thrown into a puddle of gasoline since the impact would be dampened by the gasoline and wouldn't strike the matches, the gasoline would act like the double-layered tape and absorb too much of the impact
Already expecting the injury counter to get rolled back.
I took a lot of flash paper the other day and dissolved in acetone. That will give you a goop of nitrocellulose that you can then shape into anything you want. Carefully overing the mix in Armstrong's mixture then leaving it to dry in the sun gave me a solid, which I moulded into very small poppers, that would pop on impact, and more often than not resulted in a bright flash. I would love to see you guys try this.
Couple of things, make sure you have your mould ready with the flashpaper solution in it before you add the AM, and make sure that you are coating the goop in it, not actually trying to fully mix it together as you run the risk of scorching your mother's carpet.
Reliable, improvised, mini flashbangs, in classic modern rogue style.

Have you tried stuffing a tennis ball with heads from strike anywhere matches? It’s beautiful.
I was going to suggest taking a literal box of matches, removing the strike strip, putting it inside the box, taping it up, and throwing it on the ground.
You have to be very careful with that though because its easy for the friction of you packing them into the ball to set it off
My cousin apparently tried to do the same thing with a pvc pipe as a teenager and it went off as he was packing it. Thankfully it wasnt that big so he was fine but it couldve been bad
Now y’all have the minds of post apocalyptic survivors. Now what I want to see is a string tied to the matches, so that when yanked, the ensuing flame ignites a small gas can.
When we were kids, we'd snap the heads off a box of strike anywhere matches, put them into baggie, then wrap them (extremely carefully) with a whole roll of electrical tape (the kind with fiber in it). Just throw it and hit something hard. Much louder, and more dangerous, with flying lit match heads. Never tried the tennis ball one, but sounds like it would work quite well.
This is one of those anarchist cookbook type things, whether it was an internet improvised weapon or from the book I don't remember. I do remember there was also gas and styrofoam napalm, pool cleaner and break fluid bombs and PVC pipe bombs.
OMG... I did this when I was 12 years old in 1976. It took me a while to finally figure it out what you are doing in the video but I always messed around with matches and fire along with firecrackers and rolls of caps. With the caps which is small dots of black powder all rolled up, I used a small handheld sledgehammer to make a loud bang. or cut open all the black powder and made a big hand made fire cracker which was very loud

Unfortunately probably not. Magnesium can be a pig to ignite. Now the dirtiest home made black powder you can come up with? That should ignite quite happily and produce a cloud of smoke. *Then* add in the magnesium and life could get...interesting! :D

@@TheAttacker732 Mostly as I was thinking along the lines of flash, bang, smoke (and low quality black powder generates a *LOT* of smoke) as a distraction and evasion tool. Shouting "Ninja vanish!" as you throw it is, of course, entirely optional...

I've worked with people that could screw this up bad enough to get hurt. Hell, I've gotten stuck trying to train some of them to use industrial machinery without grievous injury.
Trust me, there are plenty of people out there that it's genuinely dangerous for them to do anything like this. And that's not counting the people without steady enough hands for this sort of semi-sensitive work.

I have some interesting match based pyro!
take a couple boxes of safety matches
scrape the red heads off a few matches with like a razor
pestle and mortar it into a fine power
take a few striking strips
scrape that off with a razor
pestle into a fine powder (use a seperate pestle or wash it out between)
Get a ratio of 50/50 match head powder to striking powder
gently mix them (i like putting them on a bit of pre-creased paper and folding them over eachother)
then its ready to be ignited, or used as a makeshift bullet primer, but friction or impact will also set it off
orrrr you can put the mix into a folded bit of paper and hit the paper with a broom handle and it will be the loudest bang you've ever heard (wear hearing protection, i got tinnitus this way)

We used to make a version of this with a small box of strike anywhere matches, cut the striking strip off of the outer layer and place it inside against the match heads then tape together
