The Germans were at the forefront of a number of technologies. They also built the first vertical take off aircraft, similar to the V-22 Osprey. There's footage of it actually flying into the Deutschland Halle in Berlin, the largest hall in the world at the time, and landing in front of Hitler.

I worked for a ww2 vet who had lost one of his legs when a tank shelled the house he and some others were in. He told me several times that if he had been captured and taken to a German hospital he probably wouldn’t have lost his leg because their medical technology was also better than ours. Fortunately/or unfortunately he was picked up by two German soldiers but by this time of the war they were surrendering in droves and these two carried him back to the American lines.

@@dieterdodel835 Cause our nation didn't technically even invent the helicopter, it was arguably pioneered by the Breguet brothers in 1906. And as impressive as the flettner was, it was never in serial production.

They were also at the forefront of animal welfare, implementing many animal welfare laws, even managing to ban vivisection for a time.

Wow. German's tech. was crazy advanced. Just mindboggling!

The first helecopter to cross the English channel was German, flown by a German pilot.
I think it was a Dragonfly piloted by a British officer with a German pilot on board. Or not.
Wow!
The H-43 Kaman Huskie used the same configuration. It should come as no surprise that Anton Flettner was involved in its design.

Without penicillin if you got blood poisoning in a German hospital you died.
