Thank you for doing this! Eternally grateful and enjoyed every minute of it.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that listens with headphones on analyzing how the receiver deals with noise and handles weak and strong signals. Weak signal hunting is my passion and this will not disappoint even without any apparent passband tuning (IF Shift) which I've grown accustomed to.
In high noise bands like 40 meters I always lower the RF Gain and ride the volume control thereby improving the signal to noise ratio. With a low noise floor like yours this was not needed. Also a special mention for the superb rich audio on SSB coming out of that front firing speaker.
All of this aides a person in making a decision to later purchase a radio like this. I'd been partial to Yaesus before this, but I've learned now that this receiver is no joke, and was priced accordingly when new! All in all, not bad, not bad at all. Thank you again

It was a quick rushed through look but hopefully it gives some idea what goes on here. I hear UK stations all the time on all the bands. Hoping to get my licence this year so I’ll be able to reply!

16:40 G4VMM is always heard coming through well to Miami on 40 meters

Matt thanks for this detailed 40M bandscan, your R2000 is really doing well! That antenna also really helps, although for me the temperature seems like you are operating just over “SuperConductor temperature “…😂!
    73! Have a great day!

The Kenwood has been operating in minus degrees for a few weeks now but it’s always brought back in to a cooler place inside the house to warm up, not directly into a warm part of the house. Trying to be careful of the radio with extremes but it could suffer capacitor failure at any point as the caps are original.

26:49 not jamming, that's Olivia! Or another similar sounding radioteletype mode which I forget the name of now. Also known as the "ice cream truck sound". A fun to use digital mode which was very popular before FT8 existed. One could hear those tones on the air almost daily down around 7077

At (-) 2C the “Icecream truck sound” is appropriate…😊!

Could you take the amateur radio exam in an English speaking country and then get a reciprocal in Finland?

I will do it in Finnish, possibly I could but not explored that option.

Matt you may be interested to know the guts of this receiver was used commercially in maritime under the name Furuno RV-206A, but in a different enclosure, do a search on here and you will see it explained alongside the R2000. I was amazed after being involved in Short wave for over 40 years to find this out only recently!
