  • Why should you get a Polar Parrot? Cichlids are known for large personalities. Unfortunately most of them get very large too. A possible solution to that is the Polar Blue Parrot Cichlid. In this video I discuss my top 5 reasons to get a Polar Parrot.
    If you are interested in additional information about Polar Blue Cichlids I recommend checking out my website that includes a care sheet at aquariumapi.com/wp/polar-blue...

    I have had PB cichlids for a little over 6 years now...I have two breeding pair and a hundred million trillion fry!!! I love these fish!!! They seem to be a little more engaging than other fish... They know the difference in my husband standing at the tank and myself... FYI... They like me better... lol

    Hi, sorry I'm not a native English speaker so my English is not that good. I really love your channel, you explain very well! I'm at the beginning of my passion for aquariums, I'm studying everything I can about aquariums and fish. I think I would like fish that interact with humans. I was thinking of a 200 liter aquarium with a blood red parrot, a polar blue parrot, 3-4 angelfish (scalars) and some clown loaches or corydoras. Or instead replace angelfish with tiger barbs. What do you think about it ? Will the polars manage their aggression? do they interact with humans? Another question: I saw some wonderful yellow tiger parrots in a fb group dedicated to blood parrots, with lots of lines. Are you saying the lines stay or go away? Will the character be the same as the Blood Red Parrot? For you yellow or red pearls also have the same character as blood reds ? Have you found blood reds who remained very shy or did they all open up and become curious sooner or later? Other advice is welcome. I love fish that are not too small, very colourful, have personality and interact with the external environment. In fact, I also wanted to make a small aquarium with a betta but the fact that Betta doesn't live long stops me

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, thanks for the comment! Those species should work in a 200 liter. If you get Clown Loaches you'll eventually have to get a larger tank for them. I'd go with Corydoras if you don't want a larger tank in a few years. Otherwise all of those fish should get along. Sometimes a Blood Parrot, Polar Parrot, or Angelfish can be very aggressive but often not.

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The lines sometimes stay and sometimes fade or change. If you buy them at a medium or large size they'll be more likely to keep them. In general they should be about the same as a regular Blood Parrot behavior wise. I haven't kept them personally though

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you can keep 3 in a 29 but keep in mind if two pair up then they might bully the other. The best chance for success is 3 of the same gender or a single pair. And yes platinums stay the same size.

    I bought a version of these a couple of months ago. It was from a tank holding this striped colour and pure whites. They were labelled as Balloon Convicts. I bought just one striped one which has the red belly of a female as it's in a mixed tropical tank and did not want the extra risk of breeding aggression. It's a great little fish. I'm assuming this is different to yours and that it will stay even smaller than yours. .....yours having the extra size of a parent Parrot cichlid. Nice video , they look like great pet fish !

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for checking out the video! Yeah they go by a few names. I think that was a good idea to get only a female as they are likely even more peaceful than a male. Best of luck to yours! I'd be curious to hear back in a year on how large they get since these are a newer fish.

    So we just actually got 3 of these a couple days ago and they are very small. At the same time we were given 4 platinum parrot fish. They are also very small. Maybe even still fry. I am reading they are a bit mean to tank mates. We have a community tank with plecos, a krib, bolivian rams, cherry barbs, mickey mouse platies, horse face loach, 1 betta, a swordtails. We just them in there with them. Do you think they are gonna be ok with them in the long haul?

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the fact that you have a bunch lessens the chance for over aggression. They probably will chase each other around a bunch. If any pair up and breed they likely will get decently aggressive but hopefully just take a single section of the tank. The one first you have that I would keep and eye on and be worried about long term is the betta. Parrots likely will damage the bettas fins quite easily. If you see that start to happen then a different tank for the betta is probably best.

    Hey man, I have 3 of these guys - two paired up but now the female is super dominant and the other two (one male, one unknown) are hiding a lot. Thinking about rehoming one or two of them. Do you think they'd be happy with just one in the tank?

    • @TheAquaticCoder
      @TheAquaticCoder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I think they will be fine by themselves. There are many cichlids who are kept alone. Which are you thinking about rehoming? I have not had a known female yet (I have two unknown younger ones now). But the two adult males I've had were beautiful so I'd personally keep at least a male.
