I was so lucky to have him as an animation teacher in the late 90s. He was as kind and gentle as he was brilliant. I regret never contacting him after graduating, but then again he taught for over 40 years so he wouldn't have remembered me anyway! A great artist and a great soul. R.I.P. Dear Mr. Pindal.
I had no idea until today! I accidentally wound up looking up Joan Cusack (I first looked up Joan from Animal Crossing and was suggested Joan Cusack), and then I saw on her IMDb that she was the narrator for Peep (2004), and found myself watching the 1988 short films and now I'm here!
So this is how the PBS Kids series originated! The PBS Kids series originated as a series of shorts on 1962 and again in 1988. This is the very old 1962 version, where the main birds are all male, but they have all slightly almost the same designs as the 1988 version and the series. Chirp is the one noticeable, because he has a slightly smaller beak than the 1988 version and the final series.
Peep show was remade in colour into Peep and the Big Wide World in 1988, and then spun off into another show called Peep and the Big Wide World in 2001.
@@emily91303 The characters are technically 60 since the original show (not the 2004 one) aired in 1960 (The peep show) Technically you’re right because the newer show (PATBBW) aired 18 years ago But I think the original comment talking about the peep show
I noticed when I watched this, this looks very similar to the 1988 Version, Though, this was in black and white, But the ‘88 Version is in color, Also Being Modified.
I thought Peep and the Big Wide World originated first created somewhere in the 2000s, I did not know this existed, since 1962 like 30 years before I was born in 92!
The characters have some major design differences from the much later PBS Kids show. For example: Peep has 3 toes on each foot, whereas in the show, his feet are only made of one line, meaning he either has one toe or no toes. His 3 "chicken hairs" are also seperated. Chirp has a much smaller beak then in the show, and is male here and female in the show. His/Her toe amount also decreases in size, just like Peep. And Quack's feet appear smaller and more webbed, like a real duck. The areas between his toes are more lighter and semi-transparent. He is also purple in the 1988 version.
Does anyone remember there being more to the story? I was shown this when i was little and now im hunting for the other parts because i remember a selcene with them in a forest and a scene where they talk to a dog??? And it wasnt the discovery kids show(also watched that growing up) it was from the original shorts?

Oh really? They're all male in the old one but I think they made Peep and Chirp girls in the 2000's one
@Aiden the Tech Boy Quack was voiced by Jamie Watson
Peep was female here
Edit: I mean in the 1988 version sorry
Their genders and pronouns have changed in 2004, except for 🦆.
@Aiden the Tech Boy Peep and Quack (He/Him) Chirp (She/Her)
It took decades for this pilot to be picked up for a full series.
Aww their soo cute even in the 60's.
I agreed
I am great
I'm amazed how it all started out as.
Well, the art style of the characters clearly wasn't something you'd typically see in 2004...

This is just "Story 1". Story 2 and 3 from 1962 are either still missing or they weren't made or completed.
They’re most likely lost, due to poor storage at the time this film was made. As storage wasn’t exactly as common or available during this time. 🤷🏽♂️
It looks nice for the 1960's.
