I simply love the fact that you're showing people that our love for the boys isn't an age based thing and regardless of age or where you're from can enjoy the message they bring. Before I fell down the rabbit hole I felt I was too old to be a fan girl but now I happily embrace it. Yes the boys are down right gorgeous but it's their humble nature, their quirky chaotic relationship with one another and the REAL love they have for Army that keeps me here along with the incredible message in their music. I was a 90s teenager and wish that we had artists back then who focused so much on getting us to love ourselves - I think I would have been a lot happier back then.

As a more than middle-aged fan of BTS surrounded by friends who don’t get why, This is so much fun to watch! I’ve tried to get convert friends to K-pop with little success; Southern biases are difficult to overcome. However, I still trumpet my love for BTS and K-pop.
I’ve been talking about them for 2 years and only recently have my friends come around. Lol.
I'm also a "more than" middle-aged fan. I thought I was going through a second puberty. Knowing there's more like me is very calming.
I'm from Tennessee and I'm 45 years old. I've been trying to get my friends to see and understand my love but not many of them have even tried. Frustrating because they are missing out! But I do have a couple of girlfriends in their 30's who are big fans!

36 yr old Army here 🙋🏻♀️, and Yoongi biased. I, too, in the beginning found it challenging to accept the whole pretty boy look. I was a little judgmental and didn't catch on right away. Once I started started down the rabbit hole there was no coming back.....I fell hard and deep 😆. I'm not a kpop fan, but I love BTS💜💜💜 I really enjoyed this video. Looking forward to more.

I'm a 62 year old Army. Good to see another older fan. It's interesting that your friend needed the haie color to tell them apart. Remember the saying that,"All Blacks look the same."? I think it takes exposure to get past our racial blindness. Not just visually, but also auditorally. I have learned to love the sound of the Korean language, but the subtitles really help a new listener to relate. I'll check out your channel as I need fellowship with other older BTS fans. Thank you.
I think whenever you are confronted with a lot of people at a time, it’s very hard to differentiate. I am Asian and used to Asian faces and bodies - and I still have a hard time when there are so many people and they’re all moving and singing in a different language. And I have had at least 2 years practice. I have the same problem with all races. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️But yes - you’re so right that the more exposure we have, it becomes easier to tell people apart! I am happy to see her bringing awareness to K-POP and especially BTS. However I found in doing this you should know your audience and what type of music they are attracted to. When I am introducing BTS to my friends and family, I choose songs with a drop in the beat such as Mic Drop, Fire, Stigma, Singularity, I Like it, Like PT 2, Paradise, Bullet Proof, Home, and Pied Piper, Outro Tear, Cyphers 1-4, Hope's Mix tape. I love all of their music by the way. To me those songs have a hip hop/R&B sound. I am a black American women over 55, so I try and choose music that I think will appeal to those in that category. I personally do not feel that Boy With Luv is the best representation of BTS in this reaction. I could especially see that in Ms. Allen (the middle lady) facial expressions. I don't think she was particularly feeling this song. But I could be totally wrong.
My 13 yr old daughter introduced me to BTS through a concert we attended. After that I have been hooked. Truth be told, most Americans are not familiar with male masculinity in other countries. So they react to the visual based on whether or not they can relate. Otherwise they may not give it a chance. I would like Mandarin Mama to react to the songs that I listed in hopes to get a better response from the women. I would like to recommend a reactor who I love to watch. His name is Kito Abashi, a black hip/hop song writer based in Atlanta. I must preface this recommendation with he uses profanity quite a bit so if that is not your thing, I do NOT recommend that you watch him. His love for BTS and heart is in the right place. He started out reacting to Chicken Noodle Soup and has been in the BTS rabbit hole ever since. I can go on forever about BTS, American Hustle Life, videos about their rise to stardom. But I think I've said enough. Check out Kito's channel. I hope to see another reaction soon :-)
I love Kito!! Yes, I totally agree with catering songs to the audience! We started with No More Dream, Cypher Pt 3, BWL, then Singularity so my friends could see a spectrum. I asked ahead of time to see what kinds of music they preferred so I stayed in the hip hop and RnB side. But they asked to see a more recent video so hence, BWL. :)

I listen to everything and everybody - but I only stan BTS (mostly bc I have limited brain capacity and time and space). i pondered if i should comment this. but you've stated your opinion. hence, since this is a public post, i'll state mine. you're correct - kpop artists/groups are versatile. the genre, they do mix it up and tap different styles yet mostly edm and pop-centric. the choreography, usually robotic or cute, not that that isn't visually satisfying. but bts is different. i've known kpop since 2010. i've never supported anyone except bts though. yes, many westerners are known to write and produce their music but that is because it's a different environment where that method is actually promoted - but not in the kpop industry. also, the lyricism and the messages in the songs are leaning towards superficial in the kpop industry - if it bops and it rhymes, it's cool, generally. however, since debut, bts are heavily involved in their musicality. they talked about taboo subjects (politics, social awareness and injustice, mental issues, self-actualization, etc.). given that koreans are very conservative and follow strict guidelines on how to do things - in the kpop industry, they're called idols because they are expected to portray perfection - bts came and shattered that concept. idols can be artists too, as seen in bts. and you feel them, in every dance performance, in every song.
artists express rawness and genuine thoughts and actions - they're more real. that is what bts is.
the breakthrough of bts isn't a cause for their fame now. it is a result of them being like no other, on a different level, in the kpop industry or anywhere else around the globe. no one has accomplished what bts managed to do because they are bts. i'm keen on this because all my life, i've loved music and artists and all sorts of genre. i once was in a choir and was also in a band, listens to pearl jam, and composes too. i love dancing as a form of expression. and i love to read. usually, these interests of mine are compartmentalized to get satisfaction. bts is the only artist that was able to deliver all. there are many good kpop acts out there but it's a shame to seemingly discredit a group as extraordinary as bts and say it's just like all other kpop groups. there is nothing generic about bts. also, i guess we armys feel a little disappointed when bts is pushed to the kpop category because since time immemorial, that industry shun away bts for they've come from a small group and yet was a threat. now that bts has gone international and they can't deny or reject the talent and abilities of bts, they have to recognize. but, bts and army took that growth step by step, organically.
there really is nothing generic about bts.

Desiigner never physically featured in their Mic Drop MV only Steve Aoki, and Nikki Minaj wasn’t physically in the same room as BTS when they made IDOL with her.... Even though it opens up with Halsey doesn’t mean it’s her song, this was always BTS song. They met up with Halsey at 2017 BBMAs stated by RM during one of their interviews and finally was able to collab with her for their comeback “Boy With Luv” which connected to their 2014 “Boy in Luv” storyline. Halsey’s bias is RM and they even do their cute handshake while sitting on the couch in the MV. *She’s the first female international artist to literally be singing and dancing in person along with BTS for the first time in MV and on stage at BBMAs.* BTS were on SNL recently for their comeback debut for the first time. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can check Saturday Night Live youtube channel for both live performances of “Boy With Luv” and “Mic Drop”, also their Dionysus live performance on korean music shows. They performed “BOY WITH LUV” with HALSEY ON 2019 BBMAs stage and they won awards too! *Halsey does get more lines in their album & spotify versions of track*
Our just became the first kpop act to perform at the #grammys with Lil Nas X, Mason R. and Billy Ray Cyrus singing “Old Town Road” which turned out to be “Seoul Town Road” Lol Even though they didn’t get nominated or have a solo performance with their new track “Black Swan” like they deserved, they still killed it on stage....Also, recently interviewed with iheart presented by Hot Topic and let me tell you they are a HOT TOPIC

But other than that, I can tell you I love these boys, I love that they are NOT just pretty faces and they are not just dancing like puppets. They have substance and a back bone. They are inspiring the youth to be better and to be happy without hurting others. Reasons why they are so constantly compared to the Beatles.
