    This tractor is so sweet. Its problem is its trans. The 540 only had 5 or 6 more hp than the m and it had transmission praubs. I could see this blowing silage 150ft high and not even breaking a sweat but the h only had the slower PTO. I love this tractor though. What I would really desire is something like this or the old md with a 20psi turbo.

      Pinseeker Gaming your post confused me. The guy asked what modifications and you said “none”. Not knowing what’s actually inside, I do know the 7.3 bell housing pattern was either big block Ford, or, without the adapter plate, a pattern to fit an out-sourced trans for Navistar trucks. The Farmall M for its entire production run was neither one of those. You are correct, there were V-8s in tractors, but not that tractor.

    • @jeremyjustice1358

      Half tons of today are more truck than ton trucks 30 years ago... ford ecoboost pushing 365hp. F150 is a lot cheaper than a 6.7 powerstroke. Why pull a bumper hitch if I can pull a goose neck? Lol definitely better weight distribution.

    • @centraltexasfoxbodies
      @centraltexasfoxbodies 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jeremyjustice1358 half tons dont have the sunsion or the axle that 3/4 or bigger have. Half tons have decent power than some school buses and straight trucks but the bigger engine isnt working as hard as a half ton would be.

    • @jeremyjustice1358
      @jeremyjustice1358 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@centraltexasfoxbodies for price and weight of what hes hauling the half ton is just fine. I was just stating that a gooseneck would have better weight distribution than a bumper hitch thus reducing the rear axle weight. Also air bags are pretty cheap. Again an ecoboost with 6 speed will tow better and get same milage as a 7.3 idi of 30 years ago. I never said a 3/4 ton wouldnt be better, I was just stating for the price difference between a half ton and 1 ton is significant. If hes hauling 10,000+ I'd say that's excessive, but this tractor weighs 5 tops. Again a gooseneck pulls amd rides so much better. If I had my choice of trailers for the truck I would pick the gooseneck over a bumper hitch for reasons I've already explained
