I've loved RC since i was a little guy following tiny little awful RC cars around the house with a wire connecting the car and controller. They were remote control because there was no radio involved. As a teen i worked to buy the best radio control vehicles that Radio Shack had to offer. I never made the leap to hobby grade until Traxxass made RTR attainable for regular folks. I left the hobby for a while and only returned a few years back when i saw a monster of a truck i didn't even believe was possible. The v1 Xmaxx blew my mind. I had no idea battery tech had improved and didn't know what 6s meant but i see it making a Xmaxx do stuff i never imagined possible. Many, many, many thousands of dollars and dozens of Traxxass trucks and cars later i discovered Horizon and Arrma and now only have a couple Traxxass rigs in my collection. I've never been bit by the crawler bug but the basher bug has a firm bite on my jugular. I've got a trx6 and SCX6 as my crawler section but more because i thought they looked really cool rather than because i enjoy driving them. Hearing stories like this do make me want to give it a shot. Would one of the Vitavon SCX6 rock bouncer kits make a decent crawler or is that more rock basher territory? They look really awesome either way. I'm just not interested in the scale aspect of crawling. I can't make myself purposely sacrifice performance for looks.
Merry Christmas John 🎅 My son and I got into rc crawlers back in the mid 90's with the Nylint Jeep thingy. It wasn't very capable but we modified them and learned how to crawl😮
Honestly what got me into crawling was you! That video you made for the very first brushed puller pros that had the brushes on the inside. That's what got me into rc i was like I gotta have one of these puller pros an a axial ax10 it's been a wild ride since. Sill have my original axial ax10 I have modded to the max. Nothing really left of the original car except maybe a few diff screws an stuff.lol thank you for growing this hobby an Making these videos. Merry Christmas ya filthy animal😂 an a happy Festivus
Merry Christmas and for me I was always into rc always trying to swap motors and other parts in toy grade rcs and fit bigger tires to try and off-road better my first hobby grade crawler was the losi mini crawler that’s what hooked me then when the original trail honcho came out the green one I had a job and saved up to buy it and I’ve never turned back I have about 14 rc crawlers and I drive them regularly and always tinker and try different things to improve they’re capabilities yet keep some of them more scale I’ve been playing with leaf springs lately on my tf2 getting it to not flex like a brick
Funny you mention your one of your first transmissions… my first one I used about ten years ago was out a a Losi jrxt I was trying to convince myself it was the strongest one cause it came out of a truck….right 🤣
Merry Christmas John. I got 20 years on you, but the story is the same from Airplanes we built out of balsa wood kits and covered in cloth, hand painted details, and either a rubber band driven propeller or a Cox .49 nitro motor and control line controls. Then the early radio control units came in. My friend had the radio but I had the planes. Fun while they stayed aloft, most ended in crash landings. I then went onto Rally rc cars for the off road fun. 1st crawler was the Vaterra Ascender. Now it's the TRX4 Defender.
Merry Christmas 🎅. Funny, I was born when I was 96. I'm 52 now, so I'm looking forward to my 20s. I would love that hat, how much are they? I know about 6-8 months ago, you had questions about black holes 🕳. I think I've figured it out. I think I figured out how to solve the infinite ♾️ singularity property. I don't have the math, but I think I have a good theory. I'll send it to you. After the history of crawlers, can we learn how rc motors can pull 100-1000 amps without the wires just melting? My race esc is 160-760a on 13ga wire, how? Thanks and have a great new year 🎉
Very similar to my experiences. I had a modified txt with twin integy 55 turns. Ended up with a novak hv maxx 4400 and some proline 40 series wheels and tyres. Was going to do a conversion to the txt that included an old emaxx 2 speed but never did it. Have rc4wd rigs atm, but im looking at buying a new rig.
That’s where the real fun lies!!
Crawlers are insanely addictive!
The best hobby!!
I take every rig apart and make new beasts!

My 1st rc was a duratrax f1 car with a mechanical esc.. you were rich if you could hit 23 mph..
