    Hi would there have been any other way of retrieving the code if the cover didn't want to come off?

      Yes, you can always use a lishi lock pick and pick the lock on the door, read the cuts, and then punch them into a key code calculation application like Insta code. However, all the covers should come off, if anything, they would only be a couple of torque screws to remove and maybe even a few Phillips head screws off the steering wheel cover

    hello i don't know if you have this cylinder removal tool but it works great without having to turn the ignition,.

      Yes, a good tool. But if you remove the cylinder, and the code is illegible, or scratched up and hard to read, it would still be good to have the skills to pick the lock, get the cut and confirm through InstaCode

    hey Louie, since you were able to pick it with the lishi..wondering why you just didn't read/decode cuts that way?

    • @Lock-Pick-Louie
      @Lock-Pick-Louie  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Because the tool is very sloppy in the keyway and you can get different reads, and a lot of times you’ll also get up to 10 possibilities. If there is no other option, then I will read with the lishi go through all the possibilities till I find one. But since I know the key code is on the cylinder it’s much easier to pick the cylinder, remove it, and just read the code.

      @@Lock-Pick-Louie would process be the same for a gmc sierra '20? i think ignition is an 8 cut. wondering though if same process to remove the cylinder.

      @@iskooobydoo
      The process is a little different on the GMC Sierra 2020 and up. First pick the ignition, then turn the steering wheel to the right until you see the screw in front of the steering wheel that holds the steering wheel cover in place. Remove the screw then turn the wheel to the left until you see the screw that holds it on the left side. Remove that screw as well. Then underneath the steering wheel, you might have about three more screws that have to be removed until you can take off the steering wheel cover. once that has been removed, when you turn the ignition to run, The release hole for the cylinder will be underneath the ignition cylinder housing instead of on top.
