    Exactly what the person below me said. Clear. Concise. Detailed and ON POINT. Thanks so much! Needed to replace my window shade and I just wanted to make sure that the removal process was not significantly different than the process for my old E34.

    Perfect timing! I need to replace my rear window regulators in the next couple weeks, so this tutorial couldn't have come at a better time.

      +Jacob Merrill (TheSilentEmpire) Awesome to hear! Just be sure to seal that vapour barrier properly, otherwise the door will leak when it rains. Had to fix that issue on my E39 when I bought it.

    Thank you. I just bought a 1995 BMW 525. The car is clean except the door panel is off. Thanks for helping me figure out how to replace it.

    Had to replace the ashtray on my passenger door, because the last owner broke it. Don't ask me how, seemed like they've smashed it in. Your video helped me out a lot on that problem, Thanks a lot!

    Very important! If you see some dirt between down clips like in scond minute of video thats meen the door soundproofing (this foam) it came off. This is in 90% of cases the reason why water gets into the car. The rear carpet gets soaked and water stands under it. To glue it you need butyl string available at any building materials store. It is worth heating it with a heat gun. Then it sticks better.

    Great video, step-by-step explanation Thank you.
    Had to remove the whole door panel to find out why on the rear left door the lock pin wasn't going down at all at the locked position and this left that door open and triggered the car alarm on my Bimmer 1997 E39 540i Top Line. The adhesive that bonds the inside yellow fiber to the leather panel/liner went loose and the hole for the lock pin was misaligned not allowing the pin to go all its way down to the locked position. I fixed it by re-gluing the fiber panel to hold both lock pin holes aligned. At this point I would like to give a heads up on the panel dissasembling process I found out that there are 2 more Phillips screws hidden behind the wood liner, that hold the leather and the fiber liner to the plastic frame of the window shade roller, so in my opinion, the first step of the process should be popping out this wood liner, I almost broke the plastic frame when pulled to pop out all plastic fasteners. My advice is that you take your time and if the panel isn't popping out easily look for hidden screws otherwise there is a high risk of breaking plastic parts. Patience is of the essence in this Task. Good luck!👍

      Thank you for the kind words and sharing those tips. Unfortunately mine didn't have rear shades so I didn't run into any extra fasteners. The side shades on the E39 are pretty rare to come across.

    What about getting to the door actuator in there? Mine is getting pretty slow, and don't want it to fail locked. Already happened to me once on the other side, major pain to fix.

    I have a ‘03 540i....BEWARE of yanking on the upper panel near the door hinge. I have rear roller shades. The shade holders have a Phillips screw holding the panel to the plastic roller tray. The screws NEED to be removed prior to yanking out the panel. Two screws are behind the wood trim and one is near the door hinge

    The clip in the centre of the panel that slides out of its place in which direction do you have to pull it out?

    my rear right doors are stuck....i cant open them at all....i tried opening from inside while someone else is opening on the outside....i tried everything and its just stuck....can you make a video how to remove rear door panel while doors are closed from inside the car ? or just how to open doors without damaging car ?

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like the deadbolt is activated. Try operating the keyless entry, use the key in the door locks, and the main lock switch button in the center console. If that failed, then unfortunately the door panel will need to be removed and it most likely will get damaged in the process.

    • @asmircar1
      @asmircar1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      4DIYers ill go try right now, but i have no idea what u mean...mybe u should make vid about deadbolt...whatever that means...ill google it.

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The deadbolt is a locking feature BMWs have. It prevents the car from being manually unlocked, on the other model BMWs you could activate the system and actually locking people inside the car lol. So they're unable to pull up on the door lock levers, newer BMWs there really isn't a spot to pull up on that door lock lever as they retract in the door panel.

    • @asmircar1
      @asmircar1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      4DIYers anyway i tried everything, problem is only my right back door is stuck....all other doors work and i can open all windows...so i didnt deadbolt the car...just 1 door.

    • @4DIYers
      @4DIYers  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then the actuator has failed unfortunately. You might be able to pry the lock knob up. But there is a good chance you'll have to remove the door panel and it most likely will get damaged in the process.
