One little note to point at -- if you re-watch and go back to after the raid on Roger's house, you see Jake standing outside the car and Alonzo walks over on his cellphone and gets inside. If you listen closely, you can hear him say, "yeah, just make sure that bathtub's clean". Alonzo knew that once Jake didn't go along with their cooked up scenario about what happened and didn't take the money, he could never be one of them. He was a loose end that needed to be cut off quickly. So that's why he took him to Smiley.
Denzel's character is loosely based on a real LAPD officer. Ray Lopez was the central figure in the LAPD Rampart scandal... which you two are too young to remember. The license plate on Lonzo's car is a direct nod to this.

It's amazing how many people are persuaded by Washington's charisma. Deep into to the movie they are still looking for excuses for him. He's the purest form of corruption/dirty.
The end with the press release from the police department and the meeting with the judges and higher ups showed corruption ran a lot deeper than Alonzo... The classic "King Kong" line was Denzel adding lib. Anquan Fuqua the director said before when working with Denzel he tells his crew to have plenty of film and to keep shooting, as long as he's on set. The script is just a guide for Denzel, but he gives him range to do his own thing. That's why they were great in the Equalizer trilogy
Yea you head Denzel when he said hes been planning this all week. If it had not been for that situation in Vegas Lonzo would not have wanted to take this guy down probably he literally just need that money so when he heard he would be getting a new trainee that week it probably fucked up his plans so he had to plan around it unfortunately for Lonzo and Jake as well, his morals was too high and wouldn't allow himself to accept that money especially after he witnessed Rodger murdered so after Lonzo saw he wasn't cool with that he knew he had to go
What makes Alonso so dangerous is that he's blood thirsty. He has blood on his hands by committing heinous crimes and then tries to convince people that his crimes are necessary. He rather intentionally pursue the goal of trying to put blood on their hands in order to manipulate them to commit more heinous crimes. Btw Jake is the "snail
Please react to Denzel Washington Movies : 🔥 *American Gangster* (2007) ★ *Flight* (2012) Directed by *Robert Zemeckis* Please keep your reaction full screen. Too many editing changes are visually exhausting. You only need to edit scenes from the movie, not your reaction. The old edit style was better!
The character Denzel played in this movie was beyond crooked. It is never a good thing to be a crooked cop. You can't protect and serve if you're breaking the laws as well. That's a bit hypocritical. You will definitely realize that if you ever have the unfortunate opportunity of being on the receiving end of a crooked cop. Regardless of whether you're a law-abiding citizen or not, your life could be changed in an instant dealing with one. The end does not justify the means. The young guy is the type of cop you want in your community. He hasn't been corrupted yet.
Check out the movies Den Of Thieves(2018), 2Guns(2013), American Gangster(2007) (This movie is based on a true story), and Paid In Full(2002).

"I really want to know what his endgame is... By breaking so many rules as a cop..." I haven't finished the reaction so I don't know if you figured it out by the end... But it was because that was the only way he knew how to pay off the Russians in such a short amount of time. He thought he would be able to get away with everything (since he was a cop) and run off with his wife and kid to some foreign country. It didn't quite turn out that way for him though...🤣🤣🤣
The great thing about this film is it makes you hope Alonzo is a good cop at the end of the day despite bending the rules but once he leaves Jake to die the mask is completely ripped off
There's nothing lame about a cop helping someone with a flat tire. That's providing an actual contribution to society. There's far more dignity in it compared to what Alonzo was doing.
Man on Fire is a great Denzel movie, he plays a troubled/depressed man who is hired to bodyguard a very young Dakota Fanning in Mexico. The bond between them grows and he starts to enjoy life again until the unthinkable happens..
24 mins for this movie isn’t enough lol, good reaction otherwise. Edit: 16:04 I like how they instantly believes his excuse, they did it for the cash he stashed, they don’t care about the law.
New subscriber here with a suggestion for 2 great movies from the '90s of the same calibre as this one that none of your competitors are reacting to. Oliver Stone's magnum opus JFK and Steven Spielberg's AMISTAD. A lot of people out here would like to see first time reactions to these movies and it should draw people to your channel if you do. Besides that, you will love these movies. They've been forgotten for some odd and undeserved reason but they are also great.
Liked the scene where the residents had Jake's back. I got a movie reaction suggestion for you guys to react to its one of my favorites, The Final Countdown (1980) The U.S.S. Nimitz goes back to December 6th, 1941. It's filmed on the Nimitz. It's like Top Gun meets Back to the Future.

The most fascinating thing to me about this movie is how they kept referencing the idea that Alonzo had started out as idealistic as Jake.
Everyone starts out good and with good intentions. It what happens that cause them to be bad. Power and greed are two vices
Alonzo lives in a Blood neighborhood and Damu is Swahili for blood

Yeah I watched a video on that. That was wild dude.
His name is Rafael Perez 😂 that's also who Officer Tenpenny from grand theft auto san andreas was based off.
Perez was a menace in LA.

I swear to God, to this day, there's no better actor than Denzel Washington.
Don't swear to God over things you may be wrong about. You're swearing to something you can't take back.

SHE BASICALLY SAID BLACK STYLE IS GOOFY LMAO
I peeped that
Good movie? 😂 Fn movie is phenomenal.... Oscar winning too. 🏆 BTW Tristan did not see any of this movie 😂
I heard someone say Training Day is Before Sunrise for dudes with Scarface posters on their wall 😂
One of my favourite movies
Denzel has incredible range for an actor to be able to go from the Equalizer to Alonso in Training Day 😅
Dismissing an entire culture in the beginning as “goofy” was kinda disappointing

People are so suprised at the corruption, this shit is so common when there is money/power, when you dig or get an insider perspective.
“That guy” is the Sandman. That’s why Alonzo killed him
The point is that it doesn't matter what his endgame is. The outsome never justifies what you do to get there.

Alonzo was always a dirty cop, going back to the stole from the lady giving her a fake warrant. The signs started right there.
