Good video. I wish I had seen it a year ago. I never loaded straight wall before and it took me a while (some trial and error, some more error) to understand the differences. I still struggle a bit. This video makes it way more understandable. Thank you.
Always good to see another dude's practice of loading this cartridge. I pretty much do the same process besides charging the cases in a separate process off the press for quality control of the charge. I use 26 gr. of H110 w/Hornady 170 BT bullets. Creates a tack-driver for both my Savage 110 and AR stainless 20" barrel @ 100 Yrds. Great round for 200 yard deer shots. Mine is a meat stick!
I think you’ve done an excellent job with your video. I encourage you to keep making videos especially if you enjoy the process. Just finished a 20” upper with a Faxon barrel in 350 L, don’t need one I just like to experiment with different cartridges. Good luck with your video work…..
I love the 350. Ive got a 200 grain cast and pc load at 2000fps but i want to get a 214 grain noe mold which will probably throw a 220 grain with a 50/50 ww/pure lead mix. 1900 fps should be easily achievable with plenty of pressure headroom . H110 is OK but not the best for the 350. Definitely try shooters world blackout or a-1680.
Thanks for the suggestions. I do want to try some other powders. I cast as well and have considered trying some cast loads for plinking. Not sure I'd want to use them for hunting though.
@razorbackpiperguy2898 you can't find a better deer bullet for the 350 than a heavy cast hp. Tin alloy around 11-13 bhn holds together pretty well with great expansion. Definitely need a PC and gas check for the higher speeds but I can get 2 moa with 200 grain at 2k from 16" ar15. Within 250 yards it works like magic. Huge holes and deer go down fast. It's interesting I think it comes down to the individual animal. I've blown a does heart in half and she ran 50 yards and I've double lunged others and they drop on the spot. Generally they all go down within 50 yards if I hit them right. Shooters world blackout is a great powder for the cartridge probably the best if you're wanting to try something new. See manufacturers load data or compare with others on shooters reference website. You'll love it.

In terms of being economical how would you compare this to the 30-06 and 243? I know 350 legend doesn't take much powder but perhaps other components are not as cheap? I was hoping it would be something that could be super cheap to reload bc of the lower amount of powder but I don't know much about reloading
I wouldn't call it super cheap, at least for hunting rounds. There's not a lot of difference. The powder is the main thing, taking about half as much as .30-06 does. The projectiles aren't much different, and new brass is similar as well. It just takes standard small rifle primers. You could save money on projectiles if you were just target shooting.
In general, 350 Legend bullets will cost more than 243 or .30-06 bullets. If you just want to shoot, full metal jacket or cast, is lowest. The 350 Legend bullet is a 9mm. I have heard of people shooting 9mm pistol bullets in the Legend. For hunting, the Hornady Interlock 170 gr. shoots well from my Axis. Looks like powder cost will be less for 350 Legend. Primers vary. Locally, they are the same. Brass is less. These days, nothing is "super cheap" to reload, not even just "cheap".
Be careful of some of the responses you get in these posts. I have been loading over 30 different calibers for over 50 years including shotshells. Long story short I've been loading 450 Bushmaster for over a dozen years, just an oversized 350L and I bought a barrel and converted an AR to 350L 2 years ago. First off just use 1oz of liquid lanolin mixed with 12oz of ISO Heet fuel line antifreeze in a Dawn PowerWash bottle. Throw your brass in a plastic bag, pump a couple sprays in and shake. It's Dillon Precision's recipe and it's the slickest stuff ever and it won't effect powder or primers. The 350L has to be one of the cheapest rounds to load ever. For plinking and practice I load a 147gr .355" 9mm FMJ or my home cast and powder coated 158gr bullets sized to .356" with a couple of grains of a fast pistol powder, like 15c/round cheap. For hunting I load a Hornady .357" 158gr XTP and a good load of H110 or Ramshot Enforcer, 2400 works also. Do not use a .358" bullet, you're pushing the outside of the envelope and the round might not chamber and even if it does squishing a bullet down that far will cause pressure spikes. You could resize those .358" bullets down to .356" or .357" with a Lee resize die ($20) and then load them without a problem. Now, the one thing to remember is that the 350L headspaces on the case mouth like a 9mm, do not roll crimp. Once you've loaded your bullet of choice just use a taper crimp to hold it in place and you're done.

@@lanemerrill Do you buy bullets from a manufacturer, or do you cast your own? I'd be interested to hear what mold you use if you do.

What is your barrel length?
22"
Been thinking about getting one in bolt action. Also looking at other ones like 400 legend.
