Main reason why they are selling so high is supply and demand as well as the power of internet. I remember back in 1990s, I used to find Marantz 2245s for only $5.00 at garage sales. Now over $500 dollars, it's just insane to me. I would never pay one hundred times for any Marantz. I had so many brands of receivers, preamps and amps in the past and most of the half decent receivers will sound just as good as Marantz. Marantz is just a famous name brand so people tend to pay more and feel good to own. But decent model Sanyo receiver will sound just as good as Marantz. To me what really affects the sound is the type and quality of speaker. Half decent receiver with very good sounding speaker will deliver very good sound. For example, find a very good JBL speaker with bullet tweeter, horn mid range and good 15" woofer, like JBL C-50, will make your lesser brand, decent receiver shines.

Marantz is good stereo receivers same with Sansui 9090 DB and the price is way high now
