I remember living in Chicago listening to this beautiful song, the good old days.the memories of the 80’s was so timeless n endless fun,I that tell my children bout it now, I just turn 50 it has been an amazing ride of my life.time waits for no one enjoy your life to the fullest!
This song was not even written in the 80's though, and this version was only recorded in about 1997. (Earle's original was written in the fall of 1994.)
Here's another song that chilled me to the bone during my lifetime. I have trouble opening -up, so my final songs my loved ones will be playing, the one's that chilled me to the bone, have to say it for me. This is one of those songs that give me up. What better way to say Goodbye.
You have the lyrics wrong here - It is "Was I off somewhere, just too high." The song was written by Steve Earle when he first got clean and is about regretting the damage done by the drugs. Chrissy was well aware of that. It is also recall, not recalled.
NUNCA RECUERDE SI TE DIJE ADIOS TEMA DE LA PELICULA HASTA EL LIMITE CON DENNI MOORE UNA CRITICA A LA CAPACIDAD DE RESISTENCIA DE LAS MUJERES QUE EN REALIDA NOS HACE DEBILES A LOS HOMBRES EXCLENTE TEMA MUSICAL Y MELODIA
He shows up and cries. He looked like in from the roadway rain. He doesn't want to say it, he met a handful of women that had my same features that were very young and freshly presented while I was held hostaged and unspeakable. We never spoke again,.not just about it. He was gone the next morning. My wounding as recoverable but he did it again later the next week and my mistreatment in hostaging made me critically disabled. It was unspeakable what had happened in the matter of greed. Getting control of the coverup was a different matter. One of us dead to thee other, I don't know which.
nilradem...i think you will find that any one doing a cover version of any song "has to change at least one word for copy-write reasons,..and yes i have heard Steve Earls original,..quote.."high"
You will find you are incorrect that a cover has to change a word. That is not how copyright works. When someone covers a song, the writer gets royalties, whether or not the words are changed. Second, Chrissy and the band had their own demons with drugs, and clearly related to the song's original wording. The only place I have seen the "hide" lyric is misheard fan posts like this one. And there is no bathroom on the right, either.
This song reminds me of a lost love every time I hear it. I will always think of the good times when I listen to it. Thank you to the Pretenders.

That's what the drill master said te Demi Moore in the film G.I. Jane! damn good film, and this beautiful song proves that! :)
