I read somewhere last week that athletes can only stay in the village for a couple days after their event ends. Lots go home to family or back to train after their events are done. I think Penny had also flown to Canada and back when she was chosen for the closing ceremony as well.

Maybe she should’ve competed only in the individual events as she won medals in all 4 events but lost in both relay events. All those events take a toll on the body and affects performance not to mention needing rest in between events
Summer is a mid (200-400m) distance swimmer. I think the coach just wanted her magic to lift the team to a medal, but it didn’t work. Sprinting is not her specialty.
