Trippy, yes. Especially in person. Some of them literally put me in an altered state of ecstatic wonderment as I stand in front of them. In other words, tripping balls naturally.
I got to see this painting when it traveled to Seattle in 2004 as part of an exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum. It is stunning. A larger painting of a shady path at the asylum was also spectacular. I stood in front of these two paintings for over an hour.
How did he feel when he painted it? For me. It feels like a cold night 8-9pm, people came from an exhausting day of work. The solitude can be felt at the end of the street, lights are out as If there was nothing there besides empty builds. I see an old guy and his daughter walking towards the café to warm to themselves, they could have gone anywhere but nowhere would warm themself besides the bonfire. At the café I see people drinking, smiling, dating, as If they were a bonfire of lights. The stars look so bright at night, I can't count how many are there, but they seem to be heading towards each other. After some time I look down at the café and I realised that we're all lost stars trying to lift up the sky.
One day I will copy this work. Van Gogh puts lots of hidden images in his paintings. Notice the two 'Ginger Tom's' at the left hand side of the Horse and carriage, not so hidden but nevertheless it shows his sense of humor and mischief.
Have you ever like to show the whole public LA County, Museum of Art May lease you I I exhibit hall you’re around, and in every major city, there’s a museum and I’m sure has exhibit
People wanted to win Superbowls rather then get paid that was 2nd priority.. when your winning your not worried about money. Plus winning vrings your sponsorships, foubdations and numerous other things that pay you bank. There's always multiple ways to make money outside of your xonteact and incentive. No when your team isn't so good and toy dont see them winning a Superbowl anytime soon thats when players rather solidify their bank accounts for their future.
The writer Kristy Puchko : "Café at Night was exhibited in New York in January of 1942, right as Hopper was working on Nighthawks. It's probable that Hopper would have seen Van Gogh’s painting, as his own works were also on display at the same venue. "
Why didn't you mention Van Gogh was a Christian and there are 12 people surrounding one man in white in the center, a depiction of Jesus and the disciples.?
My favorite painting! Why? Van Gogh makes me wish I was there at night in 1888.
Well said.
Thank you!
His painting are so different from any other I've ever seen, very trippy, yet beautiful
Yes, he's great. A truly unique painter. Thanks for writing.
I found an original reproduction of this in the trash by the side of the road. It now hangs on my wall

It's wonderful how this painting conjures such images for you. Truly great works can do that, that is, stimulate the imagination.
What's interesting is also back then you could see stars at night in Paris.
Any body watching this for home work quarantine
That certainly would be a good use of anyone's time.
Thank you for helping me with my homework 😊
Glad to be helpful for you, Megan! Thanks for watching.
splatoon :D
Fun Fact: *Van Gogh’s Cafe Terrace at Night is a reference to the Last Supper*
Iconic, yes. But no, Starry Night is quite obviously his most iconic.

I wonder if Hopper had this painting in mind when he painted Nighthawks?
They certainly seemed close in outlook. I wouldn't doubt you can find a connection.

Of course he painted this at night. There's public record in the local newspaper.

Fascinating interpretation. I'll have to read more about that.
Why does he talk like that?
Who can say...
He sounds great
Pity, how, especially american narrators, cannot pronounce names of historical figures or places in the correct native way!
