Mr. Birden, what I really liked was how you guys started out trying to establish the outside passing game early against the number 3 pass defense in football. Loved how you guys loosened them up. I feel that if you can loosen a team's defense up, then you can usher in that second dimension. Most defensive minded coaches, like Coach Schottenheimer, like to establish the run game early on so you can play-pass off of that. But it seemed very clear to me that you guys said "Hey, we have to throw the ball early because the Eagles had the top rush defense in football at the time." And you guys did a FANTASTIC job doing so!! Great game by the Chiefs!! By the way, how about those Chiefs last night?
I like that they don't have the scoreboard and clock constantly being shown on the top/bottom of the screen. It allowed the viewer to focus more on the game being played on the field.
It was unheard of in those days for a Marty Schottenheimer-coached team to start the game off with five straight passes. Yet they did, and it yielded them a touchdown on their opening drive against one of the better defenses in the league. You just know Dan Fouts (the color commentator for this game) had to have been smiling the whole time.
There was a book written about this Eagles season called Bringing The Heat. It was about the 1992 season following Jerome Brown’s death. The part about this game was interesting as Marty Schottenheimer said you couldn’t run against The Eagles you had to throw as it made no sense to try and run.
Amazingly this was only the second all-time meeting between these teams and first since 1972 - they wouldn't meet in Philadelphia for the first time until 1998.
@@chasez0508 The NFL used to use a complicated algorithm to make the schedule - who you played was based on where you finished in the standings the prior season - and the odd number of teams in the divisions meant that a lot of matchups would get missed.
If I had Cunningham, I'd be running away from chiefs D, Neil Smith, derrek Thomas..Ross and whittemore pretty awesome safeties too. Just don't understand how they couldn't win a super bowl in 90s, but 90s was just completely full of some badass talent.
Rich Kotite had a 14-6 record as HC at that point? It would get alot worse! Kotite was decent with the Eagles but horrible with the Jets! Poor guy lost his last seven games with the Eagles in 1994 and went 4-28 with the Jets in 1995 and 1996. Pathetic!!
I agree about underachieving. They did that under Buddy Ryan too. Those 3 straight playoff losses in 1988-90 where they averaged 8 points per game were completely unacceptable.
@@chrisuncleahmad789 That's because Kotite won on players who were disciplined and all those good-great players were drafted by Marion Campbell (Cunningham and White were) and Buddy Ryan. same can be said for the 1995 Cowboys. Strictly won on discipline and Jimmy Johnson's drafts.
Sam Mccorkle Yes they decided to go in the tank after the death of Jerome Brown and the loss of Keith Jackson to free agency and go 11-5 and win the franchise’s 1st playoff game in a decade. Really? Oh maybe the rise of The Dallas Cowboys also had something to do with it
My guy little Winston in 5 years threw for 121 touchdowns and he could barely get a job. Most of the quarterbacks on this list could not play in todays football.who on this list threw for 33 touchdowns and over 5000 yards and got released
when the game was played by PROS not the clowns of today, none of today`s players seem to give a shit about the game, just there stupid next celabration.
graciemaemarie11 jones What? The Eagles came back from a 14 point deficit and beat The Saints in the Wild Card game. They lost to Dallas in the divisional round but it was their first playoff win since 1981.
What a great memory! I remember this like it was yesterday. A two touchdown game for me too which was nice. Arrowhead was rocking!

Thanks for sharing and awesome input. Chiefs 4 - 0, loving it!
Ugh Dave Krieg killed the Birds that day with the play fakes!
Very talented receiver!
I often wonder how the Chiefs would have fared if they’d stuck with Krieg at QB. In other words, Paul Hackett without Montana in 1993.
I'm enjoying the classic NFL games better than today's NFL.
Love that Hank Stram has more hair in 1992 than he did in 1967
That's cold. Lol.
The Astro turf was rough for the players but boy did it look beautiful on tv, especially on a sunny day.
Good to see you posting again............Especially with Classic NFL on CBS
The Original NFL on CBS just seemed more better when they had the NFC Package.

Randall was the original dual threat QB -
I was at this game! To this date the only NFL game I’ve been to.
This takes me back being a kid watching the chiefs with my dad.

Incredible quality! I appreciate your uploads.
Still looking for a Deron Cherry highlight video. He was my favorite Chief player.

The. Cheifs went to natural grass. Two. Yrs later.
How did that happen? They didn’t play each other for 20 years.

Classic...these were the days.
WOW, THANKS!
Kansas City Chiefs gameday atmospheres with the band use to be the shit.
What a good game by the CHIEFS
I remember this game live 😂

Carter, McNair, Thompson.. talented D.
And.. Bayless, can't forget Bayless, I never heard of Bayless until I seen this game

Qb play just couldn’t deliver when needed for the chiefs ... the rest was there team wise

Good game but I’m having a hard time concentrating while under the influence of these percocets. Might have to watch later.

The Rich Kolte Eagles were a disgrace. I'm convinced that they purposely underachieved to get Kolte fired

IDK. How can you purposely underachieve your way to 10 and 11 wins plus a playoff triumph in 1991-1992?
Yeah that Kolte was terrible
