The horse with the scout saddle is still the way to go for fastest travel. The rhino is tougher, with typically more health and higher armor. The gore attack can also be pretty effective, especially if the mount levels well in strength. I think going to full speed is really only useful for the trample damage, which will often one-shot weaker mobs. The fast run-down of a rhino's endurance, and the slowness of it's recharge, make it ill-suited for hurried travel. Because the rhino can't jump, it can also be tricky to maneuver around some rocky or uneven terrain.
Haven’t done a pet yet but will soon. I wish pets (and thralls) also had the inverse of ‘attack this one target’. It would be sooo handy for capturing npcs if you could run into a village mounted on your battle rhino after clicking ‘don’t attack this one guy’. You could both attack everyone else and then wail on him with the truncheon.
ive said from day one (when i first got a rhino) that the horse is better used for crossing the map quickly, and the rhino is better if you're going slow and exploring the map and possiblly getting into combat. tl:dr horse for diatance/speed, rhino for exploration/combat
I was thinking the same stuff but i gave up using rhino in the long run because we cant attack simultaneously(i mean your char and your rhino cannot attack together in one time). It also didnt aggro attack enemy if we didnt ride them.
Rhino's should be able to do simple seige damage to specific parts of structures (such as doors and pillars). That would make them a considerable option on PvP servers, beacuse right now no one wants to use them there.
not a single player would use rhinos in pvp, because endurance is the king and you forgot some very important factors: turn rate, jumping and endurance recovery speed. i hope they come at a next episode though
You can cheese all the skelleton and most 3 skull bosses with a Rhino. Poke/Charge a boss into a wall, corner or object. Place your rhino with the head over the boss and start smashing the spacebar!
IDK why you would compare the WORST Rhino endurance saddle to the best endurance horse saddle.... why not compare the best Rhino travel saddle to the best horse scout saddle??? Nobody will be running around on a rhino with the the worst saddle for very long anyway (if they bother to use the worst one at all). The best Rhino travel saddle is *significantly* better than the lowest level one, so much so that its really not even worth building the 1st tier travel saddle.
Really dumb they went with rhino's instead of elephants as the next mount imo, elephants could've been way more unique like an archer tower saddle or something

Tried the rhino on war saddle, really depletes the stamina really quick, the advantage on combat doesn't worth the pain using it... I'll keep using horse, is better for exploring and has the same carrying capacity.
Nice to show up the real speed difference, for me the rhino feels a lot slower than horse when playing. But it´s not that easy. Only on this "short" way this little difference works. You point out that the horse use significantly less endurance, so it can hold top speed longer. But there is also a big difference in time to refresh the endurance between horse and rhino. So you can not only use full speed a lot longer with your horse the time you have to wait speed up again is lesser. Final the horse feels more agile moving beween stones and trees or juming over things. With a horse you can use a lot more weapons to fight. Ok for posing riding on a rhino looks nice...
I wish the rhinos could also farm for materials. I would at least imagine a rhino being a useful pet for gathering barks from trees. Or maybe rhino can be used to farm the ????s. Cause as of now its super annoying to get off the mount to farm the corpses.
Arguably the horse's 'walking speed' is a basic canter, while the sprint is more of a gallop. Only way to be absolutely sure would be to actually watch the legs from alongside since the two gaits look very similar but do actually use a slightly different rhythm. (Either way, trot is not involved, that's a completely different gait that isn't used in the game at all, while 'over-encumbered speed' is the horse's actual walk.) And this pedantry is all Firespark's fault as well ;)
I wouldn't exactly call it useless. A lvl 20 rhino with good defensive stats is basically a free win in almost every situation. If you want to cheese things up a little bit, you can even get bosses stuck within your rhino, which will stop them from attacking you, while you can kill them relatively quickly by spamming your spear attack (which stacks bleed) and your rhino attack without having to use stamina at all for that. . Rhinos can take an extreme amount of beating and their mount attack has a pretty big radious. The only thing dangerous to them except for the storm are sand reapers due to their insane poison damage.

No, you can't ride it and yes, it has 30 slots. I've found that black rhinos are the best use for crafting caravan rhinos, since they aren't as powerful as greater rhinos if you want to use them as a follower and can't be used as a mount like the grey rhinos. Anyways, whatever you use for a caravan rhino, it will always have the same stats as a grey rhino would have.
Well that sucks that you can't ride it since the trailer has someone riding one I was hopping you could ride it and it keep the 30 slots so I could real go nuts on farming by brining a bearer thrall with me

Yes, Isle of Siptah allows you to do that. You can only ride the grey ones and the three different skin versions the dlc comes with (which are all crafted out of grey rhinos exclusively) though.
Really wish you'd test how easy it is to get knocked off of rhinos vrs horses. Also how much damage you'd do with lances to eachother. It's all of PVP now.. if you don't have a horse you're fucked.

rhino - my tank-backpack for dungeons. And in common combat - its a good tank. Rhino+spire+follower = good ranger combination

Take him out on the map, see how much foolishness the Rhino gets fetched up on. It's useless on most of the Siptah map.

If the rhino can damage structure I'm calling it pay to win in PVP as a siege weapon. Your not using any wear n tear when hitting a wall with a rhino.
