I had the opposite happen. Early 90's, the pub was still open and we moored outside it in October after lots of rain and spring tides. Had a meal and a few beers but when we left the river had risen over the banks and up to the pub door! Walked through the garden frontage to our boat and climbed aboard. Went to bed but was woken about 2:00 with the feeling the boat wasn't level. We had been lifted up onto the quayside and then left tipping over as the tide subsided. I climbed out of the boat which was almost now out of the water but was able to rock the old wooden 25' cruiser. It suddenly slipped sideways back into the river and I was able to climb aboard, have a whisky and go back to sleep....All done in the pitch black of night. No warnings that that might happen.😂😂
It might not have been stupidity, the engine might have failed. Don’t jump to conclusions folks. Get the facts before you put your smart arse comments in.
People should watch what they are doing on Breydon water and always follow the instructions and stay the right side of the green posts its really very simple, this is a dangerous piece of water !
What a total waste of the services time and tax payers money ! In my day you waited for the next tide ! I spent eight year's operating Yarmouth boat station tow boat ! went to so many stupid people doing just that ! Just take advise !

ah well if thats fact they had no choice, then I do feel for them, I feel for them anyway I mean its not nice having your boat at an angle like that. If they knew nothing about tide tables that could make it worse, and is there phone signal there?

Back in the day you waited for next high tide
Theres a reason why theres a handbook with all books, and always a map and info about breydon! But they wont be the last!
I meant handbook with all the boats!
@Jamie Saunders 🤣or strength at avoiding embarrassment at being winched off a mudbank!
"Sir, Madam did you enjoy your holiday with Richardson and when can we welcome you back?"
I can forgive daft, but stupid is a whole new level.

If the Broads Authority were to allow hovercraft to be use on Braydon then thus would be cheaper and faster to rescue crews.
That's very probably engine or steering failure and we're paying for the coastguard helicopter anyway and it's a great training exercise.
Why all that expense? Why not leave the daft buggers on there until the next tide.
Apparently they were there for over 24hrs

Everything is over the top why not just wait for the tide everyone is over dramatic these days.
They had engine failure and drifted off the channel
It gets choppy at high tide half of them hire boats aren’t even powerful enough to get across there at high tide that’s why they say cross at low

Both had engine failure at the same time? There were 2 boats at the end of the video.
Must have been scary for them
