Thank you. Helpful video. Another video suggested spraying this 4 times begging early in the season, in addition to keep the leaves cleaned up - Bonide (BND148) - Infuse Systemic Disease Control, Fungicide Concentrate (16 oz.)
Dealing with this issue now, and I'm grateful for this video. You basically told my story almost verbatim. Hard to solve this problem without the cooperation of others. Bummer. Thank you kindly for this important information!
You said it’s a waste of time to treat the tree before it rains. But the rain is what causes the rot to happen, so spray it before the rain and that will prevent the rot.
The "Royalty Raindrops" species and "Coralburst Flowering Crabapple" trees are the most disease resistant kinds. Unfortunately they weren't easy to find 20 plus years ago like they are now.
You have to be diligent with spraying, and starting early before the buds. Some seasons are better then others. This year was not so good. Keep at it. Try lime sulfur as it is more potent. Thanks for the question and for viewing!
How did you pressure wash the trees? If you introduce water before treating with Captan, won't the water ignite the spores? Did you use plain water? I take it you pressure wash to get rid of any old berries, etc. before spraying? I'm trying to figure out the logistics. Thanks.

Most of the time it washes the spray off the tree rendering it ineffective. Thanks for watching and the comment!

The home builder (1979) gave the owners a few choices of tree. I wish they would have taken the Maple. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
I have a royal raindrop and it gets its ass kicked by cedar rust every year. I’m trying fungicide this year to see if it helps.
Any update on this? Having the same thing + the tree suckers growing in the lawn.

Get rid of any leaves and old apples. I pressure washed my trees after I pruned. Then treated with “captain”
Good to know. Thanks for watching and the comment!
