They tried making Staff of kings. But that game went into a development hell and the PS3 and 360 versions got cancelled. Sadly the Wii and PS2 versions weren't that good imo.
That Terracotta Maze where the chase was happened led to the portal you mentioned. It already existed there. Von Beck just waited Indy to deal with him personally and he didn't cause the portal to appear.

I remember as a kid constantly dying to this, and had to get my dad to beat it for me!
That final Chase is too hard that I tried more than 30 times till I got successful end in 32nd attempt because that requires more concentration

This game NEEDED quicksave, or at least checkpoints within each level. Plus, that chariot was a real artefact found in the real emperor's tomb.

That lightning ball puzzle is horrible. Way too hard and failing means doing the whole level over. Thank goodness for invincibility codes.
