I know I'm a couple years late, but I'm going into my senior year of high school and I'm one of the three drum majors, I'm super excited

Try out. You will never know, if you don't try.

Alumni here. Audition. We aren't as picky as you might think. Its about building people up to be better than they came in. People with a wide range of talent and ability are accepted and seeing how we all grew is extremely rewarding. (I played mellophone)

@Grey Dragon alumni means people who have gone through and graduated. If you have graduated high school, you are now alumni of whatever school you went too. After you are done with college, you are now alumni. I went to Boise State and majored in music education. If you are worried about your skill I'd recommend to audition. Absolutely worse case scenario, you don't get into blue thunder your first year, and you spend it practicing. Boise State has a regular band that every one is accepted in without audition. It's called "all campus concert band" People from all over the music department play in it and it's a relaxed environment for fun. Great place to improve your skill. You can then audition again. And now you have to bonus of having established relationships with people in the music department. It's also currently taught by joe so you would get ample opportunity to talk to him about your goals of being in blue thunder.

@@AmazingAlex114 You should try! I almost didn't try out because of that fear. But I am so happy I did. Being in Blue thunder was one of the greatest experiences of my life. The worst that happens, is you are told ways you can improve and try again the next year. I am an alumni like Red Dragon above. I played Alto Sax. I would say practice in front of others one on one to help you with the nerve of the actual audition. and go for it! :D
