The weird semi-unnerving sections do genuinely work better because the rest of the game is so silly. It's the same effect that all those shitty video game creepypastas try to emulate, but not written by a 12 year old.
The biggest implication about Gerson is that he worked as a teacher until his passing. A sudden passing that required a teacher to take his place. This is why Alphys may seem a little inexperienced for a teacher.
She was pretty awkward and nervous in undertale as well, but she seemed to know what she was doing when it was science related. Also, if Gerson really was the teacher before alphys, in both undertale and deltarune, she replaces someone who passed away anyways.
25:48 I'm pretty sure they called each other "bro" in undertale as well, and even if they didn't, I still dont think they're bothers in either game. I think they're using "bro" equivalently to "dude", not as an indication of family relation. I think the real spin on their dynamic relative to undertale is just that they aren't guards anymore, but rather just townsfolk.
I was thinking that in Deltarune there seems to be a lot less advancements concerning the LGBTQ+ stuff from Undertale: Alphys and Undyne aren't together, Mettaton is still hidden in their home and not out of the closet and the Dog Guards aren't a couple either. I wonder if that's a parallel to Undertale where the protagonist eventually helps them finding love and acceptance. Maybe we get to ser that in future chapters or maybe it is a setup. Now hear me out: I think Undertale and the Dark Worlds specifically seem to represent a persons desire to create something fictional. Maybe Gerson is the one who created the world of Undertale since he's a story teller and, as mentioned in the video, strongly connected to his Deltarune self. The first chapter dark world seems to be created mainly by Susie since the King likely parallels the relationship she has with her father and the dark world in Chapter 2 seems to be created mainly by Noelle and the Queen paralells the pressure she feels coming from her mother (the mayor). Deltarune seems to be all about the thought that people create fiction as a form of escapism and the characters beeing together in Undertale eventually might be a form of shipping by Gerson ;) Well maybe not, but that's my theory.

Something that caught my eye in Gerson's text: The Deltarune emblem "predating written history" could be a reference to the fact that the game Deltarune was conceived before Undertale.
For all we know, Kris could actually have tried to commit suicide, jumping down the hole, leading to the events of Undertale, which is actually a Dark World on the mouth of the cave, and where Kris meets UT Asriel, and all that fun stuff happens. This explains the shirt and hair color similarities, the red eyes at the end of a UT Genocide route, the fact that, as far as we know, they both love knives, the fact that they presumably have the same soul color, AND could very well be our third "Don't Forget" human.
In chapter one, in toriels room, there is a stack of chairs known as the throne of the gods. In the mansion room with the water bottle there is a stack of tables that says it would need the throne of the gods to sit at.
I realized recently that Spamton’s yellow is the same as the spare color, and his pink is the exact same color as the spare color you get if you get the monsters to throw away their name tags in Undertale and then ask them to change it back. And when you do change it from yellow to white to pink, the yellow ones are found in the trash. I don’t know what to do with this information, other than tell you.
When you encounter queen before entering her castle, she'll say that "a certain bird will take a ride on the acid River" unless Noelle joins her with "True" being displayed on her face. If you check the swan boat after getting off, it will read: "a certain bird is taking a ride on the acid River", so technically queen wasn't lying, she just wasn't talking about Berdly. Another thing to add is if you check the hospital beads in ch1 it'll read: "The beads March grimly along their set path", but if you kill Berdly in ch. 2, it'll read "the blue bead is broken and torn off" possibly implying that the beads represent the characters marching along their set path (since our choices don't ultimately matter), but perhaps snowgrave is a divergence from that path since even Ralsei says "Wait, but we were supposed to-" when Kris ignores him in the weird route outside of Noelle's room which didn't trigger the cutscene. Or maybe it's just referring to Pipis, I dunno.
i think it probably means, even if you're removing berdly (the blue bead), the remaining people will still have to follow the same path and replace him. it's like a deconstruction of the role swap au or maybe the curtains were just blue
i think the bead one could be a reference to kris or berdly berdly, for the reasons you mentioned before - getting put in a coma (or something like that) or possibly dying or kris, for breaking of the intended path of the game, subverting the code and story into something it never should have been
My crack theory is that Intro Guy (presumably Gaster, but we don't know for sure) is the Knight, who is simply creating the fountains because he wants to make an adventure for the player. The promotional posts on Undertale's twitter account seem to be written by that same character, actively asking you to play the game. It's also heavily implied that Gaster is the one who Jevil and Spamton made a deal with. It doesn't seem like he'd have much to gain from this, unless he specifically wanted them to become secret bosses for the player to fight. If this is true, maybe the idea is that the pacifist/neutral run is the story as he intended it, but you can mess it up by doing the Snowgrave route.
It's shocking how much more there really is! I *think* we've covered all the big extra scenes and major events like that. Now it comes down to dozens of highly obscure references
Something that I have like, never seen talked about even despite how blatant it is is the fact that the special stat the Thorn Ring gives Noelle is “Trance”. This leads me to believe that she‘s not just being desensitized into thinking killing is okay - No. she’s genuinely lost control of herself. The scene with Berdly is further proof of this, considering how she asks if he is an enemy before snapping out of said “trance”. Idk why it’s never been talked about but I just. Haven’t seen it yet.
This is a technicality, but experimentation has revealed that the box of chocolates does not deal damage, but instead sets Kris' HP to 19. Just an interesting fact about how that interaction was programmed. In all seriousness, I think the reason it deals 1 damage is simply because that was _way_ too much chocolate to eat at once, even for someone who loves it. It doesn't matter how much one likes chocolate, it'll still harm one's self when consumed in excess. One will just enjoy it while it tears one's stomach apart.
both of them have eaten moss and chalk and from what susie describes about what is in the fridge she has eaten worse things . so the chocolate was so bad that it made the susie-eat-all and kris sick .
I interpreted the "unhesitatingly devoured the Box of heart shaped chocolates" as Kris not even bothering to take the candy out of the box and eating it too due to their eagerness to eat the chocolate which is why they took damage when eating it as the box itself could have been the one "destroying their guys" lol

I'm absolutely positive that Bratty is pretending to be Burgerpant's girlfriend. There are pizza JPEGS similar to the "bikini pic" he got that are available for purchase at San's store, so rather than falling for some random person online, I think whoever is catfishing him has to be someone in town. Plus when you first talk to Bratty in chapter two, she brings up "Pizzerina" unprompted and is snickering the whole time. She and Catty did mess with him in Undertale, so it's totally in character for her to prank him like that.
in the Cyber City, there are Swatchlings sweeping in the street saying they're preparing for "something big", i think they're referencing the eventual Giga Queen fight that takes place through the city
Suggestion: Kris' outfit _might_ be a retroactive Super Smash Bros: Melee joke. Berdly's outfit resembles Fox/Falco's, but with Kris and Berdly being known gaming rivals it's possible Kris played Marth, considering he's the most commonly accepted top tier character alongside the two spacies.
@@mattgreen7692 In one of the Smash presentations Mr. Sakurai (lead dev of Smash) talks about Toby Fox being extremely good at Smash, to the point of beating him at his own game! And Toriel's dialogue describes Yoshi in all but name. I have also heard a rumor with no real proof that Toby Fox spent a bit of time on the competitive Melee circuit back in the day. (Well, no proof except for the fact that Toby Fox is _really_ good at Smash...) Thus, the guess going around is that Toby Fox mains Yoshi, and that beating Mr. Sakurai at his own game is why Sans is in Smash. Though nobody has ever verified anything like that ever happened.
I dont think toby would make the important outift of his main character a silly smash reference, kris in their dark world outfit resembles frisk's shirt colors mostly, sometimes the shoulder cloth even has stripes, and theyre a knight likely because of the high possibility that theyre the roaring knight, idk, i just think it would be lame if their outfit was just a marth ref
When Toriel’s talking about the Super Smashing Fighters, I noticed she’s wearing the Heart Locket in her dialogue-box portrait. Given Asgore’s flower shop, we can maybe assume he still has the Worn Dagger for tending to the plants. (Or maybe that’s where your own ‘knife’ came from and why Toriel is ok with you having it). Those were the items you got in Asgore’s House at the end of Undertale.
I actually really like that theory. I always thought it was kind of weird for Kris to just, own a knife (Toriel even refers to it as their knife when its left in the pie tin) but pocketknives are kind of common gifts so it wouldn't be *too* weird for Asgore to have given Kris the knife as a gift at some point, especially if it was during a camping trip or something like that

A few I noticed: -If you battle Spamton on a normal route and lose, the basement music is replaced with a slowed down version of Spamton's theme -If you do Tasque Manager Says with Jevil's Tail equipped, she notices and comments on it. -In addition to NPC dialogue changing if you backtrack, if you go back to sections of the Cyber City where you were alone or were accompanied by Noelle with your normal party, the messages in the save points change. -Alphys' bike is described as looking like it might give a "honk of despair," which is exactly what the rusted bike from the garbage dump (somewhere Alphys went frequently) did. If you already mentioned these and I missed them, sorry!
The "Royal Guards" are NOT brothers. Guard 01 calls 02 his bro all the time, that's his way of being affectionate. In undertale 01 uses the term "bro" constantly when referring to 02. They're still a couple in Deltarune.
Adding on to Gerson talking about the deltarune. He knows you cant hurt him in his shop in the genocide route of undertale. Which implies that he knows more than he lets on.
One little detail that I like is that when you examine the bowl of milk in Chapter 2, Susie mentions how she thinks it's magic that it fills up every night, and since Alphys is the one who's filling it up, thinking she has some sort of pet that's drinking it, that oddly implies that Susie is the teacher's pet, in contrast to everything about Susie.
I want to point out that you can call Toriel during the opening sequence when you have the garbage orb, after her discussion with Alphys, for a bit of extra dialogue. I mentioned this in a comment in the vid where you showed Toriel and Alphys's convo, but I might've been too late for you to see it.
If you answer during the hall before going down, before the convo in the hall when you can see them, and after the convo, all have different dialogue for calling. My favorite is after, when Kris days that they are being “Normal.”
About the Orange Cat Poster: It’s a lot more than just a little pop culture reference. It’s a popular theory that the items in the room where a dark world is created determines the theme of the dark world, the line about how different Kris’ day would have been confirms that this is true because it implies that had the poster still been up, the dark world would’ve featured an orange cat. What’s even more intriguing about it, is that it also implies that Kris knows how a dark world functions!
Is this not specifically confirmed with the second chapter? Like I felt the end of chapter 1 explained it fairly enough but the second one confirmed this without a doubt surely?
10:40 if you talk to Undyne in chapter 1 and mention Alphys, she'll say something like "got it. If I see Alphys, I'll tackle 'em", so I think the implication is that that's the reason she crashed her bike.
When defeating Spamton Neo [whether its killing or sparing him] you obtain an key item called “ShadowCrystal.” Once you have completed the game and can explore HomeTown your ShadowCrystal will turn into “glass” in your inventory in the over world. Using it in the dark world in the room where you leave gives you this: “For some strange reason, for a brief moment… You thought you saw the computer lab” When using it anywhere in the over world with Susie gives you: “For some strange reason, for a brief moment… You thought you saw Susie glaring at you, coldly… But when you moved the glass away, You see her looking at you, smiling and making a rude gesture.” Then when using it when alone [bathroom or any moments where Susie stays behind for a scene] you get: “For some strange reason, for a brief moment… You thought you saw through your hand.” Those are all the possibilities i could find! I’m not sure what they truly mean but if anyone wants to help fee free :-D
Is this implying that Susie is actually the evil one who, in actuality does not like Kris very much but pretends to anyway? Or does she just not like it when you look into the shadowcrystal

The shadow crystals may show alternate worlds. In the dark world, that's just the light world, so nothing strange. When susie is around, Kris may see a reality in which they never became friends, so she is just staring at them with creepy lack of emotion and flipping them the bird. And when they are alone, they may just see a world where they don't exist.
@@lpfan4491 the shadow crystals are deeply connected to Gaster, because Jevil and Spamton are. So I found your theory very clever. "Showing another dimensions, times and spaces" is pretty much like the dialogue "shattered across time and space" from Gaster. Also, I'd like to point out that shatter is a word pretty much used for glass or crystals.
Susie saw it too so I guess there's no much secret into this. If there is, probably is something that connect Kris, Susie and Ralsei and that would be much likely the soul, after all in chapter 1 in Susie's battle with Lancer, the soul that was with Kris battled with Susie. And if the Soul is Kris' why does it inflict damage to everyone in the party and not only Kris? There might be some connection between this things
Damn, did anybody realized that Gerson's book "Lord of the Hammer" is refference to "Lord of the Rings"? Alvin says that Gerson wrote stories to entertain his kids which eventually became his book, just like Tolkien wrote Hobbit for his kids and published it later.
I caught that too! That was the first thing that came to mind. I'm glad someone else noticed. The similarities between Gerson and Tolkien are pretty striking. Both historians, teachers, and authors... There's even similarities with Undertale's version. UT's version of Gerson was a war hero, and Tolkien fought in WW1. Food for thought I guess

HEY! I love pointing this out! but when you talk to spamton, one of his comments is "TOO MANY EXCESS VACATION DAYS?? TAKE A GOD DAMN VACATION STRAIGHT TO HELL" which is a reference to when you talk to burgerpants in the genocide route in undertale, when you talk to him he says "Sorry kid, I can't go to hell. I'm all out of vacation days"
One of the interesting aspects of Susie is how she reacts to homes. When she's given her own room in Ralsei's castle, she mentions having her, "own room," as if it was surprising. When she walks into Kris's house, she seems star struck, staring at the spacious home. When she calls home she doesnt hesitate so it doesn't seem like her family is bad, but they might be impoverished. What I gathered is she might live in a living room or just lack a room of her own. A 1 bed 1 bath apartment scenario of the likes.
Well i dont Think Its Cuz of kris’s Home that susie is standing like that, i think(or rather know) Its Cuz she has to “behave” infront of toriel(since she seems to have been susie’s teacher at some point) And then theres the fact that susie avoids saying “hell” and such.
i dont think she calls her family, it seems like she just walks to the phone and picks it up but then walks back over to kris as soon as toriel isnt in the room
@@RowanTS when susie gets caught off guard or plans something risky she stalls for a moment, giving a couple "..." before launching into her plan. In the home, she goes to the phone without hesitation. No thought, no plan, just genuine Susie.
Has the rare occurence of Miss Pipis been mentioned yet? I believe it's about a 1/100 chance of seeing her when you encounter the Pipis in the Snowgrave Route, and a 1/10000 chance of seeing two of them in the same encounter.
In the battle against Sweet, Cap'n and K_K, if kris dies with enough hp to where they cant recover in 2 turns, if you dance with ralsei and susie you get two of the music trio dancing, then dance with the one who isnt dancing, it'll show kris's downed sprite in the battle won screen
I just realized that many characters from Chapter 1 seem to know Queen. Isn't it odd if they are in SEPARATE dark worlds? Perhaps the civilizations could communicate to eachother somehow or they know of eachother's existence. Could you please look into that for me? Thank you! Also, another thing i feel like we should look for in the future. Perhaps darkners from the dark worlds of chapters 3-7 would know our current gang somehow. Toby might even throw us the answer in the main story. Edit: I thought about it for a bit and I believe the dark worlds before being created still exist, but in the void somehow. I don’t know how to describe this dumb theory but to be simple I believe all dark worlds exist before being opened to the light world. I think the knight is making wormholes to the dark world and when we seal one the dark world vanishes from or sight due to us taking down the wormhole.
Not just that, but the dark fountain that creates Chapter 2's dark world doesn't exist yet (or so I assume). And when dark fountains get sealed, those worlds disappear... if we assume the dark worlds only exist because of the fountains, why do these dark worlds have histories that go back further than their fountains' existence? Do these places exist without the fountains? Do they exist in some other form before the fountains? Is this some weird last-thursdayism kinda thing where the worlds' histories are retroactively determined as the world gets created? Is all of this just a metaphor for fiction itself, and all of these weird worldbuilding choices contain no deeper meaning beyond how they fit the metaphor?
@@anonymone453 I interpreted it as Last Thursdayism, to some extent. Characters like Jevil or Seam can see through it a little, which is how Jevil would know about Queen, or how Seam knows why we need the shadow crystals.
I also found it weird that Spamton seems to have a long background and history, even though the Library Computer Lab Dark World was freshly made. Do the Dark Worlds still exist somewhere even when there's no dark fountain around?
@@anonymone453 I think that history of the items in room where you create fountain determines the history of dark world. Classroom where was first dark world is UNUSED and king says that lightners abandoned them. Also Seam says that "lightners were like gods to us. Our protectors. Our creators. The ones who gave us purpose." And if Seam and other darkners in light world toys that's exactly what was happening. Also if Queen is laptop I think someone might bring to the classroom and that's why king and Seam know her
I think it's like a playtime story thing with kids like how when you play and make a story and the next day make another story and try to connect it to the original story you made. I think that's what's going on here.
I just realized something pretty funny Queen says that she only plays mobile games Yet she knows how to play an arcade machine Therefore, she probably said that just to annoy Berdly.
Even more fun thinking who Queen is a Computer, who can´t run movile games because the programs used in phones and tablets are incompatible with home computers like PC or Macs (maybe with emulators, but still) so obvioulsly she must be trolling Berdly XD
These are so fun to watch, thanks for making these videos! Also some things i found that I thought was fun: 1. you can force Noelle through the very first mouse puzzle if you keep walking down 2. if you check on the sink in the hospital in noelle's dad's room he asks you if youre "practicing for tonight's handwashing marathon" (yummy foreshadowing) 3. This one is probably a lot of people saw but Susie is the one who's drinking the milk that Alphys puts out for her imaginary "cat" 4. When you return the spincake in chapter 1, you can get another one is chapter 2 and it's stronger. Top chef also mentions that the cakes will get stronger, so i'm assuming the healing increases with each chapter (If any of these were already mentioned before my brain cant remember 3 hours of content at all times)
Fun Fact: That desk that Undyne breaks originally was interactable. When it broke and you interacted with it, it said "* [NO TEXT] (obj_npc_room)". Turns out that's dummy text left in the game on accident. In a later patch, this was fixed by making the desk not interactable at all.
EASTER EGG: In the scene near the end where Kris and Susie are watching tv, there is a show with an orange cat wearing a chef hat. I think this is a refrence to Cooking cat from A hat in time. It might just be unintended tho.
I can't wait for the rest of the game. This was honestly more fun than Undertale and probably because it takes itself less seriously, but at the same time more serious. So many more Easter eggs and I love it
@@sid6645 I'd say the battle mechanics are objectively superior. TP is such a good, natural feeling mechanic it's hard to remember *not to* graze going back to Undertale.
@@Colddirector True my biggest complaint is the lack of variety when it comes to combat, Now you can either play safe or risk hard for TP depending on your preferred playstyle, I honestly use the graze mechanic when I'm really desperate because I don't trust my eyes to keep in track of the bullets
I think that at least in Undertale, Sans reading car magazines calls back to Papyrus wanting to drive a car if he ever made it to the surface. It shows yet another time that Papyrus is really the only thing Sans cares about, presumably because he wants to find some way for Papyrus to have a car like he wants. As for Deltarune, I think it either shows that Papyrus might be working in the store (or maybe making requests/suggestions for it), or might be a small amount of additional evidence for Sans being a darkner (or at least able to travel between the worlds of Undertale and Deltarune).

Queen's "Noelle Come Home I Made You A Battery Acid Pie" as well as Berdly's offer of a "Gamer's Delight" is a direct reference to Earthbound. In Earthbound, there's a hidden mini cutscene where Paula's father is searching for his missing daughter and runs past, saying, "P P Paula!! Where are you? It's time for a yummy slice of pie!"
This is likely just a coincidence, but I think the "lackey" scene in Queen's castle could be a reference to Dragon Quest V. In that game, there's a green character that repeatedly refers to you as his lackey. Ralsei being dressed in green and talking about being your lackey isn't necessarily too strange to be a coincidence, but I couldn't help but think of Dragon Quest when I got to that point in the game. Especially considering Toby's obvious affection for RPGs.

After explaining the Legend of the thing that references the True Pacifist and Genocide-routes, he just says he thinks it looks neat. This is both referencing the neutral endings(Because the Prophecy just simply isn't fulfilled in most of them, so it wasn't binding to begin with) and it also serves as metacommentary on...well, we shouldn't get worked up about every little thing that may not even be relevant. Though I can't exactly say I am really following the message myself because I am actually going nuts internally about how I can see a deltarune chapter 3 that would blow me away completely and how I know that isn't how it is actually going to be in the slightest.

Actually, it fit with any class system from classic rpgs, like for example Dungeons and Dragons. Susie is a Barbarian, Ralsei a Druid (but with elements of the Dungeon Master) Kris is a Paladin, Noelle goes between Sorcerer or Warlock (depending of the route) Berdly is a Ranger (or maybe Fighter), Lancer is a Rouge...

I'd like to say that I don't think RG01 and RG02 are actual brothers. One of them just used bro to refer to the other, which doesn't really imply a biological fraternal connection. At most, it shows us they aren't dating, or aren't comfortable admitting that they are.

Something interesting I discovered: As is well known by now, at the beginning of chapter 1, the first save point already has a save file, Kris LV1 00:00, and it doesn't matter if you play through the entire game without saving, it will always stay as Kris LV1 00:00, but if you complete chapter 1 without saving and go to chapter 2 on that file, and go to a save point, it will now be displayed as Kris LV2 and it will display the time from both chapters combined (as usual) and it will update it in real time (also as usual). I don't know what this could mean, maybe it implies that Kris kas went off into a dark world after the ending of chapter 1, but just thought i'd throw this out there.
The stats menu show kris susie and ralsei are all lv2 in chapter 2, after sealing the cyber world fountain, they go up to lv3, this doesnt seem to apply in the light world however, kris remains lv1 there To add to it, noelle is lv1 So your lv in the dark world goes up everytime you seal a fountain The implications for this are weird, since LV meant LOVE which was an acronym for Level Of Violence, so.... Why would your level of violence go up every time you seal a fountain? The "heartbeat" sound when you seal one is also called "revival" in the files... Weird

@@leedlelel2373 LV Being level of violence has _not_ been confirmed to be a thing in Deltarune. We know the worlds are separate, and Toby has constantly said that there isn't a direct connection between the two games, besides re-using characters. LV could literally just be a standard game abstraction in DR, and with the info we have, I personally believe it's more accurate as that. As an addition, because this has come up a bunch with the snowgrave route, we don't know if monsters turn to dust when they die, and with no mention of anyone 'falling down' at all in either chapter, I think it's safe to say they have a similar constitution to humans

Notice when you become like a Level 2 Bed Inspector, etc. So don't worry; sealing the fountains is indeed just leveling you up for the next challenges ahead, & isn't currently correlating with killing or not. 🙂 (And by the way, you can get Noelle up to Level 2... By finding the moss with her! She becomes Level 2 Moss-Neutral. So funnily enough, the moss IS actually useful & important! 😆)

heres a fact/easter egg thing- Kris does have a save file in chapter 2, saved over your save, documentation of this happening can be found from watching the first episode of Bornlosersgamings lets play of chapter 2 part 1 at 15:51 where they save before getting the darkeners back into castletown, I tested it on my second save file after playing through chapter 1 again and continuing on from there, also saving before getting the castletown residence I'm unsure if it would still appear on a save file that's already had the save deleted/reset by game standards so I think its been difficult to document but I thought you should know now that I can provide proof of it being a thing and theoretical conditions to make it occur on a fresh save, I'll be on the look out for it next chapter as well as soon as I reach the first save point!
A theory I found on 2LT discord- Instead of undyne going to the dark world with Toriel because- Noelle and Kris are neighbors, so Noelle might see Susie at Kris's house and fall into the fountain. Also as most know the thornring is in the combine item menu. When naming your character Noelle, Susie, or Kris you get interesting diolauge. And I don't think toby would just discard Noelle after chapter 2. Also if Noelle, when fighting Toriel makes the room so cold she can't use fire magic and uses snowgrave on her and kills toriel it would make a good setup for c4 where Kris goes to asgores shop.
I certainly do doubt that Toby would just completely throw out her character along with Berdly, yes, but I also doubt chapter 3 will see her involved. At least not in the normal route, and very much not replacing undyne/napstablook, since those 2 actually have more of a reason to come to the dark world than Noelle does. I hope we see more of her as the weird routes proceed, but with the whole "your actions don't matter" theme and Toby literally saying "there will only be 1 ending", it seems unlikely that we'll get that much different of a story with them. I don't like it, I think it's kinda dumb and not worth doing an alternate route where you're an asshole if there's no major changes to the story, but it seems possible, unfortunately (Also, why would Toriel attack Kris???) So in either route, I don't know how likely it is to happen, but I do think it would be cool at least in snowgrave's case. Let's just hope that they're right

The biggest implication about Gerson is that he worked as a teacher until his passing. A sudden passing that required a teacher to take his place. This is why Alphys may seem a little inexperienced for a teacher.
But wasn't alphys like this in undertale as well?
She was pretty awkward and nervous in undertale as well, but she seemed to know what she was doing when it was science related.
Also, if Gerson really was the teacher before alphys, in both undertale and deltarune, she replaces someone who passed away anyways.

I was thinking that in Deltarune there seems to be a lot less advancements concerning the LGBTQ+ stuff from Undertale: Alphys and Undyne aren't together, Mettaton is still hidden in their home and not out of the closet and the Dog Guards aren't a couple either. I wonder if that's a parallel to Undertale where the protagonist eventually helps them finding love and acceptance. Maybe we get to ser that in future chapters or maybe it is a setup. Now hear me out: I think Undertale and the Dark Worlds specifically seem to represent a persons desire to create something fictional. Maybe Gerson is the one who created the world of Undertale since he's a story teller and, as mentioned in the video, strongly connected to his Deltarune self. The first chapter dark world seems to be created mainly by Susie since the King likely parallels the relationship she has with her father and the dark world in Chapter 2 seems to be created mainly by Noelle and the Queen paralells the pressure she feels coming from her mother (the mayor). Deltarune seems to be all about the thought that people create fiction as a form of escapism and the characters beeing together in Undertale eventually might be a form of shipping by Gerson ;) Well maybe not, but that's my theory.

Something that caught my eye in Gerson's text: The Deltarune emblem "predating written history" could be a reference to the fact that the game Deltarune was conceived before Undertale.
For all we know, Kris could actually have tried to commit suicide, jumping down the hole, leading to the events of Undertale, which is actually a Dark World on the mouth of the cave, and where Kris meets UT Asriel, and all that fun stuff happens. This explains the shirt and hair color similarities, the red eyes at the end of a UT Genocide route, the fact that, as far as we know, they both love knives, the fact that they presumably have the same soul color, AND could very well be our third "Don't Forget" human.

I realized recently that Spamton’s yellow is the same as the spare color, and his pink is the exact same color as the spare color you get if you get the monsters to throw away their name tags in Undertale and then ask them to change it back. And when you do change it from yellow to white to pink, the yellow ones are found in the trash.
I don’t know what to do with this information, other than tell you.

When you encounter queen before entering her castle, she'll say that "a certain bird will take a ride on the acid River" unless Noelle joins her with "True" being displayed on her face.
If you check the swan boat after getting off, it will read: "a certain bird is taking a ride on the acid River", so technically queen wasn't lying, she just wasn't talking about Berdly.
Another thing to add is if you check the hospital beads in ch1 it'll read: "The beads March grimly along their set path", but if you kill Berdly in ch. 2, it'll read "the blue bead is broken and torn off" possibly implying that the beads represent the characters marching along their set path (since our choices don't ultimately matter), but perhaps snowgrave is a divergence from that path since even Ralsei says "Wait, but we were supposed to-" when Kris ignores him in the weird route outside of Noelle's room which didn't trigger the cutscene.
Or maybe it's just referring to Pipis, I dunno.

My crack theory is that Intro Guy (presumably Gaster, but we don't know for sure) is the Knight, who is simply creating the fountains because he wants to make an adventure for the player.
The promotional posts on Undertale's twitter account seem to be written by that same character, actively asking you to play the game. It's also heavily implied that Gaster is the one who Jevil and Spamton made a deal with. It doesn't seem like he'd have much to gain from this, unless he specifically wanted them to become secret bosses for the player to fight.
If this is true, maybe the idea is that the pacifist/neutral run is the story as he intended it, but you can mess it up by doing the Snowgrave route.

Something that I have like, never seen talked about even despite how blatant it is is the fact that the special stat the Thorn Ring gives Noelle is “Trance”. This leads me to believe that she‘s not just being desensitized into thinking killing is okay - No. she’s genuinely lost control of herself. The scene with Berdly is further proof of this, considering how she asks if he is an enemy before snapping out of said “trance”. Idk why it’s never been talked about but I just. Haven’t seen it yet.
This is a technicality, but experimentation has revealed that the box of chocolates does not deal damage, but instead sets Kris' HP to 19. Just an interesting fact about how that interaction was programmed.
In all seriousness, I think the reason it deals 1 damage is simply because that was _way_ too much chocolate to eat at once, even for someone who loves it. It doesn't matter how much one likes chocolate, it'll still harm one's self when consumed in excess. One will just enjoy it while it tears one's stomach apart.
both of them have eaten moss and chalk and from what susie describes about what is in the fridge she has eaten worse things .
so the chocolate was so bad that it made the susie-eat-all and kris sick .
I interpreted the "unhesitatingly devoured the Box of heart shaped chocolates" as Kris not even bothering to take the candy out of the box and eating it too due to their eagerness to eat the chocolate which is why they took damage when eating it as the box itself could have been the one "destroying their guys" lol

There are pizza JPEGS similar to the "bikini pic" he got that are available for purchase at San's store, so rather than falling for some random person online, I think whoever is catfishing him has to be someone in town.
Plus when you first talk to Bratty in chapter two, she brings up "Pizzerina" unprompted and is snickering the whole time. She and Catty did mess with him in Undertale, so it's totally in character for her to prank him like that.

And Toriel's dialogue describes Yoshi in all but name. I have also heard a rumor with no real proof that Toby Fox spent a bit of time on the competitive Melee circuit back in the day. (Well, no proof except for the fact that Toby Fox is _really_ good at Smash...)
Thus, the guess going around is that Toby Fox mains Yoshi, and that beating Mr. Sakurai at his own game is why Sans is in Smash. Though nobody has ever verified anything like that ever happened.
I dont think toby would make the important outift of his main character a silly smash reference, kris in their dark world outfit resembles frisk's shirt colors mostly, sometimes the shoulder cloth even has stripes, and theyre a knight likely because of the high possibility that theyre the roaring knight, idk, i just think it would be lame if their outfit was just a marth ref
When Toriel’s talking about the Super Smashing Fighters, I noticed she’s wearing the Heart Locket in her dialogue-box portrait. Given Asgore’s flower shop, we can maybe assume he still has the Worn Dagger for tending to the plants. (Or maybe that’s where your own ‘knife’ came from and why Toriel is ok with you having it). Those were the items you got in Asgore’s House at the end of Undertale.

-If you battle Spamton on a normal route and lose, the basement music is replaced with a slowed down version of Spamton's theme

-In addition to NPC dialogue changing if you backtrack, if you go back to sections of the Cyber City where you were alone or were accompanied by Noelle with your normal party, the messages in the save points change.
-Alphys' bike is described as looking like it might give a "honk of despair," which is exactly what the rusted bike from the garbage dump (somewhere Alphys went frequently) did.

The "Royal Guards" are NOT brothers. Guard 01 calls 02 his bro all the time, that's his way of being affectionate. In undertale 01 uses the term "bro" constantly when referring to 02. They're still a couple in Deltarune.

Adding on to Gerson talking about the deltarune. He knows you cant hurt him in his shop in the genocide route of undertale. Which implies that he knows more than he lets on.
One little detail that I like is that when you examine the bowl of milk in Chapter 2, Susie mentions how she thinks it's magic that it fills up every night, and since Alphys is the one who's filling it up, thinking she has some sort of pet that's drinking it, that oddly implies that Susie is the teacher's pet, in contrast to everything about Susie.

I want to point out that you can call Toriel during the opening sequence when you have the garbage orb, after her discussion with Alphys, for a bit of extra dialogue. I mentioned this in a comment in the vid where you showed Toriel and Alphys's convo, but I might've been too late for you to see it.
If you answer during the hall before going down, before the convo in the hall when you can see them, and after the convo, all have different dialogue for calling. My favorite is after, when Kris days that they are being “Normal.”

About the Orange Cat Poster: It’s a lot more than just a little pop culture reference. It’s a popular theory that the items in the room where a dark world is created determines the theme of the dark world, the line about how different Kris’ day would have been confirms that this is true because it implies that had the poster still been up, the dark world would’ve featured an orange cat. What’s even more intriguing about it, is that it also implies that Kris knows how a dark world functions!
Is this not specifically confirmed with the second chapter? Like I felt the end of chapter 1 explained it fairly enough but the second one confirmed this without a doubt surely?

When defeating Spamton Neo [whether its killing or sparing him] you obtain an key item called “ShadowCrystal.” Once you have completed the game and can explore HomeTown your ShadowCrystal will turn into “glass” in your inventory in the over world. Using it in the dark world in the room where you leave gives you this: “For some strange reason, for a brief moment… You thought you saw the computer lab” When using it anywhere in the over world with Susie gives you: “For some strange reason, for a brief moment… You thought you saw Susie glaring at you, coldly… But when you moved the glass away, You see her looking at you, smiling and making a rude gesture.” Then when using it when alone [bathroom or any moments where Susie stays behind for a scene] you get: “For some strange reason, for a brief moment… You thought you saw through your hand.”
Those are all the possibilities i could find! I’m not sure what they truly mean but if anyone wants to help fee free :-D

The shadow crystals may show alternate worlds. In the dark world, that's just the light world, so nothing strange.
When susie is around, Kris may see a reality in which they never became friends, so she is just staring at them with creepy lack of emotion and flipping them the bird. And when they are alone, they may just see a world where they don't exist.

"Showing another dimensions, times and spaces" is pretty much like the dialogue "shattered across time and space" from Gaster. Also, I'd like to point out that shatter is a word pretty much used for glass or crystals.

I caught that too! That was the first thing that came to mind. I'm glad someone else noticed. The similarities between Gerson and Tolkien are pretty striking. Both historians, teachers, and authors... There's even similarities with Undertale's version. UT's version of Gerson was a war hero, and Tolkien fought in WW1. Food for thought I guess

One of the interesting aspects of Susie is how she reacts to homes. When she's given her own room in Ralsei's castle, she mentions having her, "own room," as if it was surprising. When she walks into Kris's house, she seems star struck, staring at the spacious home. When she calls home she doesnt hesitate so it doesn't seem like her family is bad, but they might be impoverished. What I gathered is she might live in a living room or just lack a room of her own. A 1 bed 1 bath apartment scenario of the likes.

I just realized that many characters from Chapter 1 seem to know Queen. Isn't it odd if they are in SEPARATE dark worlds? Perhaps the civilizations could communicate to eachother somehow or they know of eachother's existence. Could you please look into that for me? Thank you!
Also, another thing i feel like we should look for in the future. Perhaps darkners from the dark worlds of chapters 3-7 would know our current gang somehow. Toby might even throw us the answer in the main story.
Edit: I thought about it for a bit and I believe the dark worlds before being created still exist, but in the void somehow. I don’t know how to describe this dumb theory but to be simple I believe all dark worlds exist before being opened to the light world. I think the knight is making wormholes to the dark world and when we seal one the dark world vanishes from or sight due to us taking down the wormhole.
Not just that, but the dark fountain that creates Chapter 2's dark world doesn't exist yet (or so I assume). And when dark fountains get sealed, those worlds disappear... if we assume the dark worlds only exist because of the fountains, why do these dark worlds have histories that go back further than their fountains' existence?
Do these places exist without the fountains? Do they exist in some other form before the fountains? Is this some weird last-thursdayism kinda thing where the worlds' histories are retroactively determined as the world gets created? Is all of this just a metaphor for fiction itself, and all of these weird worldbuilding choices contain no deeper meaning beyond how they fit the metaphor?
@@anonymone453 I interpreted it as Last Thursdayism, to some extent. Characters like Jevil or Seam can see through it a little, which is how Jevil would know about Queen, or how Seam knows why we need the shadow crystals.
I also found it weird that Spamton seems to have a long background and history, even though the Library Computer Lab Dark World was freshly made.
Do the Dark Worlds still exist somewhere even when there's no dark fountain around?

Classroom where was first dark world is UNUSED and king says that lightners abandoned them.
Also Seam says that "lightners were like gods to us. Our protectors. Our creators. The ones who gave us purpose." And if Seam and other darkners in light world toys that's exactly what was happening.
Also if Queen is laptop I think someone might bring to the classroom and that's why king and Seam know her
I think it's like a playtime story thing with kids like how when you play and make a story and the next day make another story and try to connect it to the original story you made. I think that's what's going on here.

3. This one is probably a lot of people saw but Susie is the one who's drinking the milk that Alphys puts out for her imaginary "cat"
4. When you return the spincake in chapter 1, you can get another one is chapter 2 and it's stronger. Top chef also mentions that the cakes will get stronger, so i'm assuming the healing increases with each chapter

That desk that Undyne breaks originally was interactable. When it broke and you interacted with it, it said "* [NO TEXT] (obj_npc_room)". Turns out that's dummy text left in the game on accident. In a later patch, this was fixed by making the desk not interactable at all.

I think that at least in Undertale, Sans reading car magazines calls back to Papyrus wanting to drive a car if he ever made it to the surface. It shows yet another time that Papyrus is really the only thing Sans cares about, presumably because he wants to find some way for Papyrus to have a car like he wants. As for Deltarune, I think it either shows that Papyrus might be working in the store (or maybe making requests/suggestions for it), or might be a small amount of additional evidence for Sans being a darkner (or at least able to travel between the worlds of Undertale and Deltarune).

I also read it as a call-back to Sans/Asgore.
Queen's "Noelle Come Home I Made You A Battery Acid Pie" as well as Berdly's offer of a "Gamer's Delight" is a direct reference to Earthbound. In Earthbound, there's a hidden mini cutscene where Paula's father is searching for his missing daughter and runs past, saying, "P P Paula!! Where are you? It's time for a yummy slice of pie!"
This is likely just a coincidence, but I think the "lackey" scene in Queen's castle could be a reference to Dragon Quest V. In that game, there's a green character that repeatedly refers to you as his lackey. Ralsei being dressed in green and talking about being your lackey isn't necessarily too strange to be a coincidence, but I couldn't help but think of Dragon Quest when I got to that point in the game. Especially considering Toby's obvious affection for RPGs.

On the topic of Gerson, I personally always appreciated how he talks about the Delta Rune in Undertale. After explaining the Legend of the thing that references the True Pacifist and Genocide-routes, he just says he thinks it looks neat. This is both referencing the neutral endings(Because the Prophecy just simply isn't fulfilled in most of them, so it wasn't binding to begin with) and it also serves as metacommentary on...well, we shouldn't get worked up about every little thing that may not even be relevant.
Though I can't exactly say I am really following the message myself because I am actually going nuts internally about how I can see a deltarune chapter 3 that would blow me away completely and how I know that isn't how it is actually going to be in the slightest.
In a way, that's good. It means you'll still be surprised.

Something interesting I discovered:
As is well known by now, at the beginning of chapter 1, the first save point already has a save file, Kris LV1 00:00, and it doesn't matter if you play through the entire game without saving, it will always stay as Kris LV1 00:00, but if you complete chapter 1 without saving and go to chapter 2 on that file, and go to a save point, it will now be displayed as Kris LV2 and it will display the time from both chapters combined (as usual) and it will update it in real time (also as usual). I don't know what this could mean, maybe it implies that Kris kas went off into a dark world after the ending of chapter 1, but just thought i'd throw this out there.
The stats menu show kris susie and ralsei are all lv2 in chapter 2, after sealing the cyber world fountain, they go up to lv3, this doesnt seem to apply in the light world however, kris remains lv1 there

@@leedlelel2373 LV Being level of violence has _not_ been confirmed to be a thing in Deltarune. We know the worlds are separate, and Toby has constantly said that there isn't a direct connection between the two games, besides re-using characters. LV could literally just be a standard game abstraction in DR, and with the info we have, I personally believe it's more accurate as that.
As an addition, because this has come up a bunch with the snowgrave route, we don't know if monsters turn to dust when they die, and with no mention of anyone 'falling down' at all in either chapter, I think it's safe to say they have a similar constitution to humans

heres a fact/easter egg thing- Kris does have a save file in chapter 2, saved over your save, documentation of this happening can be found from watching the first episode of Bornlosersgamings lets play of chapter 2 part 1 at 15:51 where they save before getting the darkeners back into castletown, I tested it on my second save file after playing through chapter 1 again and continuing on from there, also saving before getting the castletown residence I'm unsure if it would still appear on a save file that's already had the save deleted/reset by game standards so I think its been difficult to document but I thought you should know now that I can provide proof of it being a thing and theoretical conditions to make it occur on a fresh save, I'll be on the look out for it next chapter as well as soon as I reach the first save point!
A theory I found on 2LT discord-
Instead of undyne going to the dark world with Toriel because-
Noelle and Kris are neighbors, so Noelle might see Susie at Kris's house and fall into the fountain. Also as most know the thornring is in the combine item menu. When naming your character Noelle, Susie, or Kris you get interesting diolauge. And I don't think toby would just discard Noelle after chapter 2. Also if Noelle, when fighting Toriel makes the room so cold she can't use fire magic and uses snowgrave on her and kills toriel it would make a good setup for c4 where Kris goes to asgores shop.
I certainly do doubt that Toby would just completely throw out her character along with Berdly, yes, but I also doubt chapter 3 will see her involved. At least not in the normal route, and very much not replacing undyne/napstablook, since those 2 actually have more of a reason to come to the dark world than Noelle does.
I hope we see more of her as the weird routes proceed, but with the whole "your actions don't matter" theme and Toby literally saying "there will only be 1 ending", it seems unlikely that we'll get that much different of a story with them. I don't like it, I think it's kinda dumb and not worth doing an alternate route where you're an asshole if there's no major changes to the story, but it seems possible, unfortunately (Also, why would Toriel attack Kris???)
So in either route, I don't know how likely it is to happen, but I do think it would be cool at least in snowgrave's case.
Let's just hope that they're right
