Excellent! You and your wife are hard workers! I don’t know how you do it! God bless both of you for all you do, in showing people how to grow their own food.
WOW thing's are looking GREAT !!! Yes you have to deal with the HEAT down south and we deal with the COLD up north. Need the middle ground ! You are so blessed. Look's like a bumper crop of stuff in the GH. Stay safe and healthy. God bless
Your green house looks Amazing Danny! I wish I had a greenhouse. Hopefully someday. The cow manure is great fertilizer for tomatoes. I use my cow manure mixed with rabbit manure and it does help the plant to grow well. Keep up the good work and will be looking forward to future greenhouse tours!
I built a green house in then end of an old grainery. 8x13 I over surpassed the limit of what it has room for. First year of this. I'm learning there's an art to it
I love that you have a variety of things growing in your greenhouse. Also, really like that your controlling pest naturally. I enjoy and am learning lots from the detailed videos you put out. Keep um coming.
Danny, why don't you take one of those self-opening panels out and replace it with an exhaust fan connected to a timer or temperature switch that will draw cool air in from down low where the screens are. It would keep it cooler with a positive airflow in the Greenhouse. We use them on ours along with shade cloth and it helps out a whole lot to keeps our stuff from burning up. You'd be surprised what a fan will do for your Greenhouse.
I'm so happy to see you using different methods to control the growing environment for your plants. Years ago you weren't thrilled with my methods of growing indoors, but now you can see that it works. In a few years you'll learn as I did that there's a never ending ways of growing year round and having more food than you can possibly eat and sell. I will continue to pray for your success that you may bless others. Have you tried growing with no sunlight, just led grow lights???
Here in AZ hot dry weather causes the leafs to curl up if they were out side there's a few things that would cause them to curl humidity can also be another reason. Your plants are looking great.
My grandpa calls that manure burn! LOL when he was alive and I garden with him, he was careful how much manure he put on any of the garden. He said that animal waste is high in nitrogen and will burn the ends of the plants. He also called a tomato a hot plant, what he meant was they take up nutrients pretty easy. Just my two cents Dan! Love seeing the greenhouse and thanks for all the insight and teaching you provide!
Because you used compost from your trash piles to fill your beds initially. It may not have the same consistency of nutrients also because they are next to the outside wall open to the air the orientation in the path of the sun might have some small influence as well. You might want to track the path of shadows in the greenhouse. It’s been my experience that tomatoes will explode if given more nitrogen so there may have been more pockets of that in your soil at that spot. They can also leaf curl to protect moisture evaporation due to wind and heat but I can’t remember now if that is an up or down curl. I think the MI Gardner channel had a very informative video on tomato diseases etc.
Could the tomato leaf issue be caused by roundup being used by hay growers that passes thru the cows and stays active in the manure? Charles Dowding Gardening Channel has been researching that issue and I think he is working with Monsanto to try to raise awareness of how that hay is causing problems in gardens because of the compost.
It's not 'roundup' it's a herbicide chemical called 'Aminopyralid' which is sold under various array of names but it's a herbicide used in treatment of lawns, grass fields, crops etc. Beans, tomatoes, roses are very susceptible to it among other garden plants. I found that horse bedding made from oil seed rape stalks contained it, so a years worth of manure was a toxic pile. Luckily I showed beans in it as a test before spreading on the garden.
@@wandawilliams3110 This is the link to his video about it. th-cam.com/video/w7vr-GlzuZs/w-d-xo.html He talks about leaf curling but also discusses stunted growth which doesn't seem to be an issue with those tomatoes.
@@mitchh9111 Yes, I had a problem with it a couple years ago in some hay bales I was trying to grow potatoes in. What a waste of time & money. I had to haul the bales to the landhill too - no good for mulch with that chemical on it. Sure wish that stuff was outlawed for use on animal feed or straw bales for bedding.
I have a thorn less Blackberry outside at my place in Tasmania. My Maya tree was attacked by a Possum and it has taken a two years to recover. FinalIy has fruit on it. I see how you have optimized your space with containers/pots. Great work guy's.
Hi Dan I put in some hybrid tomatoes too they took off over 4 feet now and the tomatoes are getting big already. The leaves are the biggest i seen and resist disease so far. I make compost but its not enough i need more. I can grow year round here which is nice. i wish i had the room you have to grow things. Enjoy your channel.
In the past I have grown some standard cucumber varieties with minimal success, partly due to inadequate pollination. I was even hand-pollinating them, and still not having much luck. This year, I planted all parthenocarpic cucumbers so I didn't have to worry about pollination. They're loaded down with baby cukes, on strong, vigorous vines. I'm having great luck with Socrates and Sweet Success here in Central Texas. You might try a parthenocarpic variety for greenhouse growing, so you don't have to hand-pollinate.
Thank you so much for this video. As a new greenhouse grower this information is so important to me. Couple of suggestions that would help viewers when doing updates on plants would be to tell the sun orientation and to give the date. Thank you so much.
That was my first thought as well. Too much nitrogen from the cow compost not being broken down enough. Anytime I see rapid growth with strange growth pastern, I'm thinking high nitrogen.
Beautiful! I'm jealous up here in MI I really need to get more poli for my greenhouse And on the plants I always get a few basil plants that go absolutely bonkers every year and the rest that were all started exactly the same time/ batch are just okay. I always wonder why just one or two plants take off from the rest. Lol. Maybe u should only save seed from those plants to pass on that gene for getting big lol
My Celebrity tomatoes overwintered in half plastic drums and are loaded with tomatoes. I'm already picking them, as well as yellow zucchini. I have a worm tower in the zucchini barrel. Wow, they grow like crazy with the compost available. I put a gallon of water through the compost every day.
Danny, you can put a temperature controlled fan in the Greenhouse and it can go in where your upper vent is if you like that location. Everything can work off the temperature switch and if you wire it so, the upper fan won't work until your vent door opens. All it takes is a limit switch to allow it to work. You can have a Solar fan so there is no power usage also. You can have a high temp backup fans too, in case the heat gets way too high. These can sit down on the floor someplace and blow up to clear the heat out of the top. I know you probably already have that figured out.......knowing you. LOL
You got a female asparagus plant. Awesome. The white blooms are flowers which will turn to berries. Looks like you're going to have some asparagus jersey knight seeds before too long. Awesome.
Great tour! There may have been chemical drift from somewhere or residue in feed product that stayed in the manure. If so, it should clear after this season.
The green house is beautiful Danny.I planted bush beans and didn't care for them the ended up being a tangled up mess, they might do better in one row like in the green house mine were planted in 4 rows and they just tangled up I think if I need to trellis them I would rather just grow poll beans and get more beans.
For cooling, I saw a video in AZ they used a water curtain with a fan blowing through it. It might be something to look into. It looked like corrugated cardboard.
I used to plant Contender green beans till I found Kentucky Wonder bush. I believe they're hybrids but in my area far superior to the Contender. Many hay growers use Graze-on to keep the weeds out of their pastures. I've heard it will not distinguish between potato and tomato plants. No signs of leaf rollers either. We never did know what caused it. I would suggest contacting a master gardener club or extension office.
I wonder if you could get some solitary bees to keep inside your greenhouse. You could hang or set a habitat up for them and they will repopulate themselves. They aren't honey bees but they are a super mild natured bees that don't sting unless you intentionally smash them in your hand
Danny, could you tell us, is that pepper plant a cayenne or a banana pepper. I've always had problems with banana peppers. I'm doing some Italian sweet pepper too.. So far no issues. Banana peppers, I've put them in containers. You can barely see them, and the same with cayenne.

Hello Danny.:: When you get a chance check out Spring hill farms. I have got many good ideas from them. Triming tomatoes plants and cucumber plants and stinging and clipping them to the string, then you don't have a bunch of stuff to store in the off season. Hope you check them out and it helps you like it has us.
I get leaf curl on my tomatoes and have for years, I have planted over a hundred plants at a time so I seen about everything. I live in a Carolina Bay in SC, Rich black dirt lot's of water. Keep those plants as dry as practical and limit nitrogen.air circulation is a must plants get too big and hinder air circulation. There is a herbicide used mainly on grass pasture that persist for about three years even in manure and tomatoes are super sensitive to herbicides, I've even hurt them irrigating from a small Creek that runs through my property but flows through several farms just upstream from me. God bless.
It's 16x36 price depends on what you get with it. We ordered a lot of extra with ours. Tyler from growers solution can help. Use our promo code Deep South and get 10% off your purchase.
Nitrogen being too rich will curl the leaves.. manure that isn't broken down enough is usually the cause.. water more often to dilute and they will be fine.. aphids are attracted to plants that have too much nitrogen, but tomatoes will out-grow the aphids..
Hey Deep South Homestead I recently subscribed to your channel a couple of weeks ago and I really enjoy watching every video that you post the very helpful and full of knowledge. I'm thinking about making a cattle panel Greenhouse for the upcoming fall weather in October here in South Carolina. If you get the time Deep South Homestead will you please go check out my channel and look at some of my gardening videos I would really appreciate the encouragement and some good advice to on some fall gardening tips
I have read a banana tree needs two years to make fruit. Most people dig them up every year, therefore they never have bananas on it. Don’t give up on your tree for three years the. You should have bananas forever.

Peppermint and Spearmint. He just said MINT.
I had black eyes peas run last year, never had that happen
Brilliant, looks great with the lighting. Is it Solar or Mains ?
It's main.
The compost may need to to be cut with peat or dirt because that is too much nitrogen making the leaves curl
Nice. Green. House
Thank you for great video, lots of food for thought!
I could live in a greenhouse. My parents had one growing up and I would often take my sleeping bag and spend the night.

This is amazing.
Love the shirt Danny. I need one. Lol.
How do you hand polonate Cucumber?
Love it ❤️❤️

No they have weep holes 4 inches from the bottom.

Tomatoes are sensitive to chemical. I hate when Farmers spray in all 4sides of me then things get set back and curl up the leaves
Nitrogen being too rich will curl the leaves.. manure that isn't broken down enough is usually the cause.. water more often to dilute and they will be fine.. aphids are attracted to plants that have too much nitrogen, but tomatoes will out-grow the aphids..
I thought tomato leaf curling is copper deficiency

DRAINAGE HOLES IN PLANTERS, SIR?
I believe he puts them 3 to 4 inches high around the sides
Yes around 3 to 4 inches from the bottom.
manure looks like it was too hot still, to much nitrogen is my guess
To much nitrogen in the cow compost can cause leaf curl.

I have read a banana tree needs two years to make fruit. Most people dig them up every year, therefore they never have bananas on it. Don’t give up on your tree for three years the. You should have bananas forever.
I wish my tomatoes would grow. I'm using rabbit poo in the water.
