Hi James, this is a late comments, as 1st producer of this type chipper in China, i have to say something if you do not mind. 1 good quanlity comes from experience, it is not possible for make good quality if the producer focus on profit, and to take the market. low price will definitely get the most customers, but honestly chinese products is everywhere, as chinese can make it cheap. but it is not good , the more focus on price, the less left for use, so quality goes worse and worse, as competition is going one and reseller/importer in US is squeeze the profit. everyone can make a good machine, if they really care the users.
for your problem, something you can do are
    - to adjust the gap, or tolerance between anvil and blade, it is designed to be 0.5-1mm, no more than 1mm evenly from left side to right side.
    - Sharp the blade, with 30-31degree.
    - reverse the anvil if the edge gets round.
    - order your branches and make them tidy in line, vertical to blade before feeding.
    - full speed of engine
    - random control the feeding, volume and speed manually
    something you can not change
    - blade material and processing standard. like JONCO standard, is 25-50 hours blade durability, which requires regrinding every 25-50 hours, if goes with mixture of dry and fresh material. if all fresh, you can do 100 hours, but you have to check before every use.
    - quality standard, such as 0.5-1mm is gap we set for all machines out of our plant. drum is well balanced to 0.3, gap should be evenly in line.
    - output, width of output chute is designed with many times test and updates. wrong design will clog material esp. for those moisture ones and while blade get blunt.
    - belt goes off, if the chassis, and all others are not in right position, it will be hard to make two pulleys line.
    - good engine, could supply power steadily. if not, it could also wear the belt faster.
    - also some special tools for certain maintenance...
sorry for this long comments. Our team is not good at conquering market with low price, but we goes up slowly and we focus on users and making machines simple but different. we are lucky that JONCO gets more reputation and competitive to brands made in US.
i wish the market image should be like: various machines are offered with all different ideas of different producers from their users. every machine should be designed and produced for use not for money...(i must admit that a reasonable price based on producers' efforts and users' trust is still a must)
    am i right?
    Jon from JONCO chipper

I am a tree surgeon running this chipper 100's of hours a year its powerful and it is very fast and effective, you need to make sure when setting the blades you use a credit card to gauge the gap between the blades as been mentioned. The other problem i see is that you are chipping mostly dead material- no chipper likes this! it also punishes the blades! Try and make it easy for your self by cutting the material into the most straight lengths possible.

We sell these exact chippers from Jansen. They are not to be started straight out of the crate. Blade to counter blade tolerance must be set before commissioning. Also belt alignment must be checked and adjusted. We have sold 100s of these in the last 4 years. No trouble once they are assembled properly.

You need to adjust the belt tension and the blade gap to run a machine properly. Dead wood will blunt any chipper blades quick. RTFM. Cheers

The gap between the cutting blades and the counter blade is way too big. You should make it about 0,5 mm. This will solve your problem. I own exactly the same chipper and mine runs like a dream.

I have the GTS2000, I have a problem with it clogging on twigs and leaves. I can get one blade set to 2mm per the manual but the other blade is 5mm on one end and 4mm on the other end. Anyone else experience this?

    • @simonparry3823
      @simonparry3823 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Rick Lemberg it's not the 2 blades on the drum you move they will not close up the gap. There is only 1 blade with 5 screws it doesn't move its stationary

    • @garymontesano5903
      @garymontesano5903 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@simonparry3823 I adjusted the gap on this very day by loosening each of the five bolts on the two blades. Because the holes are oval shaped, there was plenty of room to make the proper adjustment. Originally I intended to make the adjustment by moving the counter knife, but I did not have the right sized allen wrench to loosen those five bolts. In addition the location was difficult to access, especially when tightening them to the proper torque, for it is impossible to get a torque wrench into that tight space. So, in my experience, making the adjustment via each of the two blades was the proper approach.

You have to set the knives 0,5mm from the counter knife.

Sebastian Ferenczy is right you need to move the counter knife, I had the same problem wood chips to big and jamming all the time. Once I move the counter blade no more problems

I got the same chipper I had my for 3 and half years now and I still on the original blades and they are still sharp I had the problem with the belts, I had to reset the engine and I had no problems since. I really can say it’s the best Money I spent on it.

Your blade gap is way too big and you also should not chip dry branches (I clearly states that in the instructions). Very few chippers can cope with dry stuff, it’s just too hard. I’ve had the same chipper for 3 years and it has not missed a beat for me. I love it.

Hello Stuart. Excuse the random comment here but i saw you commented on that jansen gts 1000 chipper video, you said you had one yourself and it was good? Ru uk based? If so are the parts easy to come by and service agents?

Any chipper will struggle if not in proper adjustment.

I like the Jansen because of the gravity feed. What I don't like is the heavy price-tag and that I am buying equipment with very little information about it, except what people have posted on TH-cam, unlike another model I am looking at: DELEKS (Italian made?) where everything is explained. From how the machine is put together, how it works, how to maintain it etc., plus it has a 3-year warranty. Transparency at its best. The only thing I haven't figured out yet, is if its gravity fed/self feeding. Looking into this before I commit. It might not matter a jot if I know how to troubleshoot and carry out the maintenance myself and safe myself some money. I'm not sure I will be able to do that with the Jansen. I don't even know where the belts are!

price tag for all these are excellent compared to a little bigger one that takes the same branches, like frost and others start at 15 to 35k usd, and the branches they chop are pretty much the same as what these chippers take.
so getting this for 1/10 the price and doing the same branches, just that it might take a bit longer, (even though, these will be faster with no feeder as u drop it in and it goes through much faster and u go for next branch) so if ur quick these will actually be faster, as long its not like 10cm branches all the time, like 5-8cm and u can just drop it in rather often.

I habe the same chipper. Its not bad... But I have the same problem with the branches getting by. Its annoying! Far as the belt getting loose I went and adjusted the engine spacing by moving the engine up to tighten the belts. My nelts popped of 3 or 4 times after running maybe 3 hours.

I recently bought a GTS 1500E albeit not Jansen as I was new to this when I bought it. According the the manufacturer the distance between moving blade and fixed blade is 2-4 mm. Apparently for better efficiency they say. I guess the distance determined how fine the cut it??
