It's an odd style of whistling but I don't practice it enough. The more I use it, the clearer it is. As you can tell, I don't use it much at all. Great to see him catching on though 😁😁😁
I think I get it...going 80 meters for a drink from the birdbath or drinking from the source that's right in front of you - I might have done the same thing. What if I disappeared while he was gone and he missed out on a bale?!?? Better to stay close until after he's had his evening snack😁
I wonder if it's like the naughty Hungarian phrasebook sketch from Monty Python - am I speaking Magpie like a tourist with a dodgy phrasebook? He's as comfortable as Pauly was around me now. Maybe not as much as Mrs M but she was an exceptionally trusting and friendly lady. Cheers Larri 😁
@@mybackyard36 🤣 not even a dodgy phrase book, think it was like the scenes in Tracks where Eddie and the Camel Lady are just talking to each other in their own languages. Mutual respect and emotional bonding space invader keeps putting my phone in incognito for TH-cam. Hope you can see this
I'm not sure that he was whistling the Hitler song - but he was certainly communicating with you! I see you're getting the winds up your way too - it's been like a gale here today.
The tunes title is 'Colonel Bogey March' please not the Hitler song. Yes he was mimicking you and I'm sure he's added it to his repeteaure. Sometimes hose water will do. Not my first choice but I'm not a magpie with a thirst. Not much time spent on the bale patch today. A quick feed and he was off. It seems to be the norm of recent. Cheers Murray 👍😀🇦🇺
I just had a quick listen to that march and I swear I could hear the words to the song I'm so very familiar with over the top of it... What's also odd is that normally they'd show up later - either foraging and just passing by or sometimes asking for seconds. As you say, the quick bite and off is the new normal. The plovers had four chicks about a week ago. I wonder how long they'll last this year. Fingers crossed at least one makes it. Cheers John 👍😁👍
He was DEFINITELY singing the same song as you. 🤣 But he stole the show - don't give up your day job, Murray.

Agree- Definite conversation going on. Quite the friendly companion today 😁

Yep, there have certainly had some breezes lately! I like it when he replies to my madness but it probably only encourages me 👍👍
@@mybackyard36 Why not? You might as well enjoy yourself and the birds too, mate!.
That was awesome, I could listen to that all day! Bloody great job Murray! Cheers, Leo.
Cheers Leo 👍😁👍
