      Secret weapon: InEarDisplay Amalgame. It's a mad noises factory, a multieffect unit. Feed anything into it, and you have no idea what's going to come out. Craft something intentionally, or just randomise and tweak the result a bit. I will sit there for hours, saving my own new presets, recording long streams of sound, cutting it up. There's no telling that a preset you make will actually have the same effect on the next bit of audio, so sometimes I'm scratching my head wondering why I named a preset "Newsroom" because it made one sound into delicate evolving typewriters given that it's turning a new noise into hellfire. (To clarify: I make tons of sounds with this which then become sampler food, so I can play them as instruments or process them further. Great for weird glitchy sounds, classic techstep barks, or whatever else Amalgame feels like doing.)
      More expensive, more predicable but equally dramatic: Unfiltered Audio BYOME.

    Virtual Riot turned me on to Texture, but Stranjah you went way deeper with what it can do in this tutorial. I am working on a punk and dnb hybrid song using some of your's and TC's resources and some punk rock midi drum patterns, but I am altering the patterns to be a 2 step pattern at 174BPM. I have used Texture a bit in the past, but now I am way more excited to use it again and put it on the these drums to get them dirtier and to punch through and beef up the bass and vocalisms in the track. Thanks for these great insights on Texture.

    I'd normally do this all in the box using Renoise, so I usually tend to not have 3rd party plugins in the process BUT lately I found out, a plugin can really motivate to find something new and it brings aspects, that haven't been visible before. So, in this view Texture would be worth a try and also the filter plugin they now have. Thank you for sharing!

This is something I can get behind, as you said so yourself, this isn't just 'another, same old' boring, plugin. I could imagine adding this to so much and getting really good and unique results. This sure saves having to manually find samples to layer, as everything is self contained.

      @@STRANJAH it's hands down the best sidechain tool I've ever tried, no clicky/clipping artifacts, doesn't colour the sound and it's super flexible with tonnes of options.
      My favourite thing is that if you have it set up to be triggered it will show the waveform of your trigger source so that you can change the reduction curve shape to match really easily, you can get a real tight sidechain that cleans up the mix without that obvious "sucking" effect that sidechaining often creates.
      It's easily in my top 3 most used plugins, I've used it on basically everything I've made since I got it

    Maybe a stupid question, but this could work on any sound source right? It simply follows along with the outputted audio? What I mean is, this would work to add something to external hardware based drum machines, samplers and synths?

    • @STRANJAH
      @STRANJAH  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oooh that is an interesting question. Conceptually I think that should work if you patch this to the audio channel that the hardware will feed into.

  • @dnbsoldier7259
    @dnbsoldier7259 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Pretty cool plug-in. I can see this being useful. I already do this kind of layering manually, but I like the control level that this offers. Key tracking would be a huge addition and would likely cause the plugin to require a significant boost in processing power. It would need to have native pitch detection and be able to calculate that on the fly while triggering the layer accordingly. I don't know anything about coding, though so who knows.
