He isn’t physically threatening towards you, but he excessively tries to warn us about…something, only using and escalating the force necessary to stop you (Remember: you hit him first). It replaces “established elements” such as Baldi in Birthday Bash’s Principal’s Office (doesn’t he have his own?) to cover for a “missing file,” or character. But on a behind-the-scenes level, I could also see this as the dev’s way of giving filename2, or Null, a grand send off to this character made to craft a mystery. If we take Null Fight’s ending at face value, then whatever crap was in those previous games should really be considered non-canon - *And this includes filename2.* So mystman gives him character development, his own gamemode, and a boss fight, before killing him directly in front of the audience. Unless we see Null in BB+, I feel like this is the true end of filename2, and whatever obsoleted story he was trying to dissuade us from. Or, this _is_ part of the story, and the notebook *is* a 4th wall breaking metanarrative, and the “aimless story” the dev was trying to tell is still afoot. Only now, we’ve knocked over our dull red STOP sign for the first time. (Although this seems like it would be overcomplicating things. On a side note, I still love Null’s character development The idea of the way-too-relaxed dude start to give more sarcastic, and eventually demeaning responses the more times we find him, before we get to see him mentally break down so much that it affects the game world, _that_ is terrifying.
