Thanks for sharing Lee. The best 912 Resto that I have ever seen in my 34years of Porsche ownership. Well done and only at 750kgs. Great analog driving, such an experience.
Not many people can say they have driven or worked on 1965 912, I have. I recall having a friends 912 for repairs, the carbs were in desperate need of a throttle shaft re-bush, rather than replace with Webers we had the original Solex's re-bush'ed, with new butterflys. The difference was night, and day one all synced up the sound is all to familiar. In stock configuration that little 912 was pretty poppy...
Had the pleasure of seeing this at Goodwood. My Blue Clio 182 can be seen in the background during the in-car discussions. Wondered what it was but managed to zoom in to take some nice pictures from inside the car. I love it more now.
I ***LOVE*** the sound of the driver door closing at 2:47 and 7:37!!! So many things to love about this car, especially the engine! I think I also saw some new JPS valve covers! Gosh, this car is a jewel.
What a hoot of a car to drive I bet! I was absolutely captivated until the very end of the drive where you mentioned the price...unless I win a very, very nice lottery there won't be one of these in my garage! The best measure of the car and how it likely feels was the unfettered laughter and the look on your face Lee!
I've owned several 912's and many pre-74 911's, the 912's were indeed much lighter, when the gas tank was low the front end was light, I'd get a lot of understeer and the steering effort went to near zero. They could absorb bumps like nothing as well. Great cars.
This car is going in the right direction. Saving weight is the priority over fancy power figures. However, the same can probably be achieved by dipping the body without the need for CF but I suppose some people have to have CF which is probably why the car is expensive.
interested to hear how you're getting 200+ hp out of the 616... some pretty hefty numbers that are higher than the best 616 builders out there. A lot of power for those 3 main bearing cases. Probably why a lot of the high end 356 guys are switching to 4cy 964 builds for longevity's sake.
Can you really call it a 912 when most of the original panels have been replaced? The engine, fair enough. But the rest of it *looks* like a 912/911, but has basically all been replaced. The price is mind-boggling
You can build a relatively low cost 912 that will run with early 911's . 912 motor to 125 hp. Update to vented discs, aluminum M calipers and if you can find them 7" American Mags made of magnesium.
Blew a chance to get a red 912 for either 6500 or 8500 I can't remember about 15 years ago, thinking about selling my 72 Cuda clone and 2001 Boxster and getting a 912 or 912e.
Now, this is my idea of intelligence in hot-rodding. Remove unnecessary weight, including using a lighter 4 cylinder Porsche boxer engine rather than the typical 6 cylinder, and retaining a much higher level of reliability as well as handling. This car is beautifully detailed and so thoughtfully done. Intelligence, folks, not just horsepower. :)
Do you have any additional info on the engine? I have a 69' 912 with a 68' engine and have been looking for a nice rebuild. I love the Polo engines but they are very pricey and I don't have a 964 engine sourced. Also, I'm curious how the JPS cooling works with the 911 style fan. From what I've seen in the from other builds, that style doesn't translate well to 4 cylinders. Last, which model 901 are they running? I currently have a 911/01 which is supposedly stronger but was rough to get the push/pull clutch to work with the 912 engine. Thanks.
tell you wot though, a 356 with that motor or a tuned 4 cam mut have been awesome! or the original speedster must be incredible. must be easy to wipe out though
At the 1972 Sebring race I saw a 1963 Carrera coupe in Irish green with dawn leather interior. He wanted $4,000. I could kick myself for not buying it.
@@thetumanshow needs at least a harness bar to keep the straps on your shoulder. You could slip right out of those. I have the same problem, very light in the front. You need downforce or weight in the front otherwise the brakes won’t work, and you loose grip in the front.
Bs this thing had like 85 hp I remember the old porches and they sucked over priced and super low power and very plastic inside non adjustable seats ans ac ans switch’s broke all the time
Being part Hungarian, it's awesome to see a Hungarian co doing this! Awesome job!!
What a fabulous 912. Love what they’ve done with this. Keeping the old looks with modern updates.
Yes it's a great blend!
I am fully pro of the 912/912E and the 4cyl Porsches in general! Better handling and far cheaper to maintain!!! ;)

Wow I've never heard a 4 cylinder that sounds this good. What an awesome car!

It's an excellent restomod and sleek concept.
What a blast. Everything a sportscar should be. Well Done!!!

Wow. Excellent. Sounds like so much fun.
Gotta love the UEL header sound! :DDD
Such a nice car. Well done! The only thing I would change is the front seat to a seat with a headrest. Just for safety.
LOL. While I believe it’s worth the $325k, I think I’ll keep my 1997 Targa ❤ and call it a day. Fantastic car and video. Thanks.

Great vid, sounds fantastic!
Nine point 42 pounds per HP. AWESOME! Of the six running (and two non running) Porsches I’ve owned, the 912 was my favorite.
This is GOLD!
Wow best 912 I’ve ever heard and it’s a great looker as well. Brilliantly executed 912 restomod.
Credible! Kamm let out the essence of the 912 !
Great Video lee
I appreciate that pricing was discussed at the end of the video. While they don’t work on these models, it’s on-par with Singer and Gunther Werks.

Great car. Great presentation.
Thank you.

I had a 1968 912. It was really fun to drive, a great car. it rusted badly.
A type 4 engine (411, 914/4 etc) fits in this car. A type 4 could be heavily tuned, up to 2.8 l or more.
That sound!
I want one! That looks like a great treatment in restomod mode. Brilliant!😊
LOVE it !

Fabulous!
First Resto Mod that I’ve liked. Great car and great video Lee
Of all the many gazillion quid Porsche restomods, this must be the best interpretation. Thanks for the informed review.

Beautiful 🏆👍👍
Forget that, the six is worth it.
would luv to drive this! 😂
I'm seeing 205's in the front (at 1:22) and 195's (at 1:25) in the rear - but the narrator said it's the opposite - why put wider tires in the front?

Agreed except magnesium wheels have a limited (safe) life span as you probably know. It is possible to find aluminium wheels that are just as light.

interesting shifter set up, seems like a great solution to the only thing I never loved about early porsches. 964 solved it finally.

i prefer to have headrests but i guess it was part of the weight reduction lolz

Great build, but that harness mounting is horribly incorrect and is just asking to get someone very hurt if they got in an accident.

Probably an overkill having 5 point harness and only 175 hp, cool car
It set up for the track
Nice Beetle.
Dr Ferry Porsche designed the Porsche car series after the old "Volks - people" wagen.
Car is cool, but harnesses are a bit of a joke.
agree
Was shocked only one other person mentioned how unsafe those are…
