That’s why I appreciate seeing the folds on some of her other outfits, since it shows that they are actual fabric, and not just her hair.

I have The Eyes of Bayonetta art book and there is around 100 different designs/concept art for Bayonetta. And all those 100+ designs are so gorgeous and fashionable. ❤ I love all the outfits the artist drew before settling on the final OG character design.

I love concept art that really makes you feel the experimentation in the process.
@@Homodemon Oh, but the redhead on the prototype (the one with black clothes fighting against karate fighters lol) was just a model they already had around, and used it to get a sense of the gameplay - a placeholer, if you will.
Out of all the designs Bayonetta's had, her default look in 2 is my all-time favorite because it's this perfect combination of classy, sexy, and powerful. I think it's the shawl that really brings the entire look together. That and the metallic rose patterns. Fun fact. When Platinum Games were designing the Link outfit for Bayonetta and showed the preliminary designs to Nintendo, Nintendo wanted the design to be MORE sexy because they thought the first design didn't fit Bayonetta's character. Playing the Bayonetta games made me realize just how much of a character's personality can be shown through just their fashion choices (design, clothing, color schemes, etc). It's changed how I approach both character analysis and designing my own characters.
For the standard outfits, Bayonetta 2's has to be my favourite, first off I'm a sucker for silver jewelry, and if you notice her second outfit has a lot of straight lines and cutouts, her triangular earrings, the more square medallions on her clothes, the diamond cutouts on her legs, her pointy shoulders, all those things give me a strong Art Deco vibe and I love that aesthetic, it's so elegant.
Honestly my favorite part about bayonetta is she truly is an amalgam of uniqueness and a love letter to fashion and camp. The fact that her hair is her clothing and her weapon is just peak design. Thank you for making this video gained a new sub.

Little fun fact: Bayonetta's first draft had her hair down and in a more covered up outfit but it did not work because we play most of the game with Bayonetta's back turned to the player (imagine just a big wall of hair and some legs, lol). The low cutouts (especially that dramatic exposed back) were added to create more contrast against all the black and grey, same with the long white gloves. Both stylish and functional. Loved your video ❤
I really liked this one. I have never played Bayonetta, but I’ve always admired her fashion from afar. Thank you for the backstory on her inception and what it meant for the franchise. As an aspiring developer, I find that reassuring as I’ve always paid a lot of attention to fashion.
As a nerd who gets compliments on their fashion sense, when I'm literally just taking inspo from Anime/Manga/JRPGs/etc., finding this channel feels like vindication!!! AND you decided to talk about Bayonetta, one of THE most fashionable video game characters!!! Loved hearing your insight 💙
I need your opinion on Jeanne’s premiere outfit from Bayonetta 3 because I love the references it implies. It’s one of my favorite designs and it is criminally slept on. I feel that it’s super fashion forward and nobody wants to accept it now, but will adore it in a few years
Bayonetta 2 is my favorite! She very much gives Rich Auntie vibes to me. Speaking of some of her outfits from that one, it very much gives me Moschino, especially the police one. Given how they do different themes of everyday things, like their McDonalds, the lifejacket and the maid pieces in particular. Love how they love to accentuate her legs. All mini skirts and sheer black tights but still tastefully covered like you said, she gives those peeks of skin, mainly at her back. She doesn't want her breasts on display but the way she arches her back, showing off it as well, is just so 😚👌
There is a more secret skin in Bayonetta 3 that is very adorable and well done you may love. It's her young Cereza skin the Super Mirror 0 and the way they age it up for adult Bayonetta is so well done.
Great Style and loved the video. Never played Bayonetta before but I love her as a character. She just screams style and originality as well as oozing sexiness by just existing!
I’m with you about the French Bayonetta outfit; I honestly think this was more of a reference to the joke when Bayonetta joined the Smash Roster considering there was the meme going about that she looked like she could be Joker’s mom, and could be a reference to the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5. I also feel like that there was a missed opportunity when it came to outfits, like don’t get me wrong the outfit designs were stunning but I felt there should have been more or brought back all the outfits from the previous game to Bayo 3.
Literally yes yes yes! You 1000% understand where I'm coming from with Super Mirror B4. Joker is literally the perfect way to describe the vibe And I agree - while I love the Bayo 3 skin, Bayo 2 honestly had the majority of stronger and more interesting outfits
@@XDF seriously hope you get a chance to discuss the concept art outfits that were designed as well. Bayo 1 had a lot of alternate versions as shown in the documentary they did, there were also ones in the bayo 2 concept art book with that there are possibly ones in the bayo 3 concept art book that just now released
She awakened all the mommy issues I have, beat them up, and took their space just by walking in to scene. She is such a queen! I love her design as a whole, thank you so much for this.

I'm not into fashion at all, but your video was really good. Really easy to hear you talk about style and teaching what makes something unique and cool.
I've said this in your comments before, but im so glad these character designers are getting the read they DESERVE for their gorgeous, fashion-forward designs. Just because a model isn't wearing them, doesn't mean that the outfits are not *S T U N N I N G*
Great video! It was wonderful to get your take on these skins :) if you have time in the future I would adore a followup covering the outfits unique to Jeanne! She doesn't have so many that Bayonetta can't also wear, so likely a shorter video
It’s very nice to meet you just so happen to notice your channel because you were talking about Bayonetta I don’t really see many people interested in games like you like but you are it shows you’re just like everyone else Despite your beautiful looks and banality you’re a kind and awesome person😊
Super Mirror B4 looks the best with Abracadabra, a cloak , wand and hat weapon, they double as accesories , although you can't change the color scheme for those. Super Mirror 0 Outfit from the third game is not in the video, but is definitely cute , it's giving catgirl , but done in a really Bayonetta way with the hair. ❤ Love the video btw!.
I really like Bayo 1's default outfit, it has that "OG" charm, and also places her form in the modern times while also giving off "dark witch" vibes. The next outfit I like is from another character (Bayo 2's Balder), he has that peacock theme while also exuding grace and agility, all within the silhouette of a "sorcerer", something not exactly found from the other "sages" on popular media. If you're looking for the next "fashion review" material, if I may suggest, probably one of the popular Gacha games (Punishing: Gray Raven comes to mind with all their characters skins, as well as Tears of Themis for more male fashion) :) Looking forward to the next one! :D

Something that I love about the Bayonetta 2 Metal witch skin is that they keep the spiked shoulder pads which gives it so much more dimension and avant garde. They could have just made the skin her like naked but metal but they elevated it into art.
XDF I looooveeee your videos so so much!! As a fan of anime and video games and also fashion I'm just so happy listening your comments and analyze of each outfits!! Been binge watching your videos since I missed some of it! And I really love it. Just a weird recommendation for me tho, maybe you can do a video for villains costume and look in power rangers (especially Japanese tokusatsu & power rangers) as they look very camp-y and interesting (at least for me) and villains in other animes or video games, maybe like Sailor Moon?
You mentioned Rikku and I immediately wondered if you did a FFX2 analysis and I was not disappointed. You might look into Touhou Project. That series has a very wide variety of designs. Would advise to look up the fanart in addition to the official art as the creator ZUN is known for, and himself knows that, his artistic style is very... limited. Also, if you like League of Legends, I'd also suggest SMITE: Battleground of the Gods.
Thanks for the suggestions. And yeah - will eventually get to LoL - along with SMITE, which I barely discovered at the start of the year and absolutely love playing.
Haha im not a fashion man. This video was just suggested and i was curious. But i did enjoy your video. Her fun sexy attitude made me love the game but you kind of open my eyes to another huge point of her character that i failed to paid attention too, and feel gives me more to appreciate with her character.
It's always really interesting to hear your thoughts on the outfits, especially because I find our opinions aligning on a lot of stuff (e.g. the Bayonetta 2 default being one of her best costumes, purple being a top-tier color, stockings are always great, etc.) Don't forget her glasses, though! They're a really important part of her look. It might also be useful to look at her costumes from the first game in terms of aligning strongly with a number of types of classic fetish looks from Japanese gravure and AV, although whether this was intended to be played straight (i.e. to give the players the fanservice they want) or more as a deconstruction (i.e. using the designs to reclaim the looks for a character who wore them for herself, not for an audience) is a lot more debatable. But, as others have pointed out, there are definitely themes at play with her selection of outfits in each of the three games.
As far as the bayonetta 3 defauly costume goes, my only change personally would be to actually open up the ends of her braids. The floral accessories at the ends look nice but I think just letting the hair on its own would add to the silhouette
I been waiting for this video!!!! I hope in the future maybe you can take a look at some of the concept art for bayo and maybe jeanne too! I'm in love with her fashion taste
I loved your analysis on this and can’t wait to see more. Funnily enough the last one was my favorite of the bunch, but I understand how it just doesn’t work in all the colors. Definitely check out more of the other outfits for her and concept art for alternative versions because they have some interesting changes and ideas not just for Bayo but for other characters as well. If possible I’d like to see your thoughts on some of the outfits for Link from Botw and Totk since there are a few that look really neat. Cant wait to see more content.
What I really appreciate Bayonetta is the emphasis on strength in femininity throughout the game- a lot of her looks are great, but her formal Umbra hairsuits exist for combat while still being stylish. The gorgeous chain details are more than just flair; those chains are used to bind demons to her whims, and I think it gives us a very visceral window to look into how every aspect of her design is not only meant to be sexy, but dangerous. Her life is doomed to an eternity of combat, yet she flourishes and uses her situation to her advantage to live her life to the fullest.
@@XDF I think it just shows the research that went into the worldbuilding that people don't always give her credit for. Bayonetta was a small-time developer's first action classic, and yet EVERYONE knows who she is, because she is a testament to every aspect of being a Superstar; she's iconic manifest. This is who she is unapologetically, and she doesn't have to be a man in any sense to be any more deadlyz

I know for me personally, its something about the braids being right beside the shoulder puffs that makes her top half look blocky at certain angles but I definitely don't hate the look, it a nice call back to Litter Cereza lol just a bit awkward compared to every other custume
I saw you respond to a comment recommending Touhou, and I’ll vouch for it. BUT! I have another suggestion- Library of Ruina and Limbus Company, which take place in the same universe. There’s not much for fan service, but for the dark, grungy, industrial setting, there’s some REALLY cool outfits there.
Sewper entertaining and highly professional. Your content is mad dope and I’m excited to see what’s to come and follow the journey. Shit I started mine too lol. I’ll see you at the top⚡️
I was surprised how much XDF liked the Peach/Daisy costumes from B2 tbh, I always found the skirt to be to frilled out, which I understand is because it's an action game and her legs need to be seen and have room to move but I feel like they could have at least gone the route of Dress A/B where they just put slits in the dress. Basically I just wanted Bayo to be in full Peach/Daisy cosplay XD Would love to see analysis of other video game outfits.

I really liked this one. I have never played Bayonetta, but I’ve always admired her fashion from afar. Thank you for the backstory on her inception and what it meant for the franchise. As an aspiring developer, I find that reassuring as I’ve always paid a lot of attention to fashion.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video - Bayonetta definitely has several interesting elements to inspire ongoing creativity
i would KILL for an analysis of the styles of Persona 5's Phantom Thieves, great content and i'm glad i found the channel
I'll get to that franchise eventually
@@XDF i happily await it!
ooh i can't tell you ENOUGH how much i needed this video, i'm starting my drag character with a basis on Bayonetta and this was so helpful tysm
Yaaay - so glad the timing was so perfect 🙌🏽 Wishing you the best with your character
Such a great comment - thanks a bunch! :D
I need your opinion on Jeanne’s premiere outfit from Bayonetta 3 because I love the references it implies. It’s one of my favorite designs and it is criminally slept on. I feel that it’s super fashion forward and nobody wants to accept it now, but will adore it in a few years
I'll definitely be taking a look at Jeanna eventually
i don't know what part of the algorithm decided this was content i'd be interested in, but i'm glad it did. love this video
She doesn't want her breasts on display but the way she arches her back, showing off it as well, is just so 😚👌
Great descriptiveness - yes, heavy on the rich auntie vibes from Bayo 2 - I think game featured most of her best looks
I miss your videos. I hope you make some more when you get the chance!
Hi - yes, soon. I've just gotten so caught up with life 🙃
There is a more secret skin in Bayonetta 3 that is very adorable and well done you may love. It's her young Cereza skin the Super Mirror 0 and the way they age it up for adult Bayonetta is so well done.
I know - it just wasn't part of the video footage I found. I'll be doing a Short on it 👍🏽
@@XDF Oh cool! Cannot wait to see it! Just found your channel thanks to this vid and already adore your content
Great Style and loved the video. Never played Bayonetta before but I love her as a character. She just screams style and originality as well as oozing sexiness by just existing!
Yeesss - glad I'm not the only one who is able to appreciate her as character, even without playing the game
Oh my gosh, I needed this video in my life! I got literal chills watching!!
So glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching :)
Joker is literally the perfect way to describe the vibe
And I agree - while I love the Bayo 3 skin, Bayo 2 honestly had the majority of stronger and more interesting outfits
Love this video and what you’re doing here! Video game discourse really benefits from having your voice and observations!
Especially Nintendo discourse!
So glad you think so - thanks for enjoying the content
She awakened all the mommy issues I have, beat them up, and took their space just by walking in to scene.
She is such a queen! I love her design as a whole, thank you so much for this.
Lol - no problem 🕺🏽✨️
Always love these vids! I've never been a very fashion conscious person, but your videos are so well explained and fun they're bringing me around to fashion design. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the awesome feedback! I'm getting back in the content groove 🕺🏽
I'm not into fashion at all, but your video was really good. Really easy to hear you talk about style and teaching what makes something unique and cool.
Always love hearing this kind of feedback - really appreciate it
I've said this in your comments before, but im so glad these character designers are getting the read they DESERVE for their gorgeous, fashion-forward designs. Just because a model isn't wearing them, doesn't mean that the outfits are not *S T U N N I N G*
I especially love your last sentence. Exactly right - but the fashion world is slowly catching up to realize that.
Great video! It was wonderful to get your take on these skins :) if you have time in the future I would adore a followup covering the outfits unique to Jeanne! She doesn't have so many that Bayonetta can't also wear, so likely a shorter video
Yes - will def take a look at Jeanne and other character eventually
YESSSS BAYONETTA I love this game so much and it's perfect to analyze in terms of fashion
Yeessss - most definitely.
It’s very nice to meet you just so happen to notice your channel because you were talking about Bayonetta I don’t really see many people interested in games like you like but you are it shows you’re just like everyone else Despite your beautiful looks and banality you’re a kind and awesome person😊
Thanks Ashton - I appreciate the thoughtful feedback 🙏🏽 😊
@@XDF your welcome 🤗
Very interesting video and analysis, I was looking for something like this for a while. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching
Thanks! I didn't even learn about Super Mirror 0 until after I filmed the vid, but I think it's such a great costume. I'll probably do a Short on it.
in fact the original design is made with that weapon equiped in mind
love the fit in this one X. great video
Thank you 🫶🏽
I love your analysis in these videos, but I also really love seeing what outfit you put together for them! Great look & video, as always
Thanks for appreciating all of the video elements - I really appreciate the support 🙏🏽 🙌🏽
Commenting again cuz i was just shown one of your shorts. Hope all is well and youre successful in whatever it is yoire doing.
Finally back in action - sincerely appreciate the patience and support
I love this format of your videos
Thank you
Great video! I was looking for kind of this, bc I recently got really into sowing and making my own cloth. Thank you💜
I really like Bayo 1's default outfit, it has that "OG" charm, and also places her form in the modern times while also giving off "dark witch" vibes. The next outfit I like is from another character (Bayo 2's Balder), he has that peacock theme while also exuding grace and agility, all within the silhouette of a "sorcerer", something not exactly found from the other "sages" on popular media.
If you're looking for the next "fashion review" material, if I may suggest, probably one of the popular Gacha games (Punishing: Gray Raven comes to mind with all their characters skins, as well as Tears of Themis for more male fashion) :)
Looking forward to the next one! :D
Interesting perspective - I can dig it
I love those videos sm, so comfy and so passionate I love em,✨
Yay - such a delight to hear 💖
Again, another grand slam, your content just magnetizes me and I could almost hardly care about fashion lmfao, course I don't leave the house without thinking about what I wear but not nearly with as much descriptiveness and attention to detail as you. Keep on posting! I love this shit 👌
Oh but uh personal request, could you consider lowering the volume of your intro a little? for me I have to turn you up when I listen to your videos, and then your intro explodes my ears, not that I don't like it though lol. Buena Suerte 🍀
Thanks for the feedback! I kinda always noticed that the video intro was a little louder - but didn't know it get extra loud on some speakers 🤭👍🏽
I'm so glad the video could help shed some more light on the awesomeness of Bayonetta. Thanks for giving the video a chance 🙌🏽
YEEESSS!! ANOTHER FASHION VIDEO!!
Yeeessss
What i love most about bayonetta 2 is her short hair, she pulls off that pixie haircut so well. :)
Yeess - it looks SO good on her
I been waiting for this video!!!!
I hope in the future maybe you can take a look at some of the concept art for bayo and maybe jeanne too! I'm in love with her fashion taste
Yeeesss
I LOVED THIS VIDEO!!! Amazing
Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. I'll have to take a look and if anything sparks
Really great analysis ❤
Thank you!
Yesssss I love this!! I would love to see you do a fashion analysis on Nana :D
Yes - will definitely cover Nana eventually
What I really appreciate Bayonetta is the emphasis on strength in femininity throughout the game- a lot of her looks are great, but her formal Umbra hairsuits exist for combat while still being stylish. The gorgeous chain details are more than just flair; those chains are used to bind demons to her whims, and I think it gives us a very visceral window to look into how every aspect of her design is not only meant to be sexy, but dangerous. Her life is doomed to an eternity of combat, yet she flourishes and uses her situation to her advantage to live her life to the fullest.
Love the thoughtful summarization of her style - her fashion is definitely functional for her purposes
@@XDF I think it just shows the research that went into the worldbuilding that people don't always give her credit for. Bayonetta was a small-time developer's first action classic, and yet EVERYONE knows who she is, because she is a testament to every aspect of being a Superstar; she's iconic manifest. This is who she is unapologetically, and she doesn't have to be a man in any sense to
be any more deadlyz
Bayonetta definitely if very self confident. The walk is just so over its amazing ahha. Amazing analytical video too man as always❤
Living for Bayonetta's confidence 🙌🏽
@@XDF I wish lots of girls would have that Proud strut
Thank you for dedicating the time to put that difficult shirt on for us lol I am so grateful to grow up with such a Powerful, Sexy and Independent idol like Bayonetta.
Not sure if you discussed Lollypop Chainsaw but she is Bayonetta's tween sister if anything lol
Glad I was able to highlight this style queen
I'd love it if you did a review for Uma Musume whether you watched it or not, the Idol Fashion mixed with Horse Racing are really something to take a gander on!
Great review as always!
Didn't know I needed this lol ❤
Bless - thanks for watching 🙌🏽
LOVEDDDDD this deep dive ❤
this channel is now my home❤
Welcome!
The diamond shaped decorations on the front of each hip serves as buttons and the knot in the back can be pulled off, then the lower part can be push down like leggings 💅
Oooo - thanks for the specific bit of insight 👍🏽
QPOC + GAMIING + FASHION PLATFORMS ON TH-cam????? IT'S A NEW DAWN Y'ALL
This is our time to shine! ✨️
u should do a vid on the Umbran Elegances next! The Rakshasa one in particular is so prettyy
all the outfits ate
Pretty much
Metal Witch is the most camp Bayonetta costume for me, haha
Lol - it's so random 😅
Fantastic 💫
Thanks!
Super mirror B1 from Bayo3 is my fav ❤
I really like that one too!
This is everything! So much style knowledge, so much designer knowledge. Actual thoughtful critique. You are my new fave! Genshin style analysis please 🙏🏾
Glad you enjoy the content. Genshin will definitely be covered eventually
Thank you so much abt the bayo 3 outfit 😭🙏🙏🙏🙏 I feel like everyone hates on it so much for no reason
It's literally so elaborate and interesting. I don't see how people could hate it
@@XDF honestly
I know for me personally, its something about the braids being right beside the shoulder puffs that makes her top half look blocky at certain angles but I definitely don't hate the look, it a nice call back to Litter Cereza lol just a bit awkward compared to every other custume
Interesting and Inspiring content. keep making more please 😘 Fan from Hong Kong
Thank you
ANOTHER BANGER!!!!
LETS GOOOOOOOO!!!!!
love ur vids
Thanks for the hype!
Definitely would love to hear what you think about Jeanne, viola, and Lukas outfits
I'll do another Bayo video eventually.
Rosa has the best outfit
It is very interesting indeed
This is awesome thank you
Glad you enjoyed
Found this randomly and glad I did!
Awesome! :D
Love your videos!
Sewper entertaining and highly professional. Your content is mad dope and I’m excited to see what’s to come and follow the journey. Shit I started mine too lol. I’ll see you at the top⚡️
Love that energy dude - thanks a lot. Wishing you all the best with your content journey!
I love Bayo's Sunday best dress. Peak elegance ♥️♥️♥️
It really truly is
I was surprised how much XDF liked the Peach/Daisy costumes from B2 tbh, I always found the skirt to be to frilled out, which I understand is because it's an action game and her legs need to be seen and have room to move but I feel like they could have at least gone the route of Dress A/B where they just put slits in the dress. Basically I just wanted Bayo to be in full Peach/Daisy cosplay XD
Would love to see analysis of other video game outfits.
A full peach/daisy cosplay-esque look would have def looked majestic on Bayo - but I can't help but appreciate a mature/cutesy spin on the looks
The biggest compliment someone has ever told me was that one time a friend told me I looked like Bayonetta from the first game 😎 now I look like Polpo from Jojo, of course, but c'est la vie 🤣
Most definitely a compliment
The metal costume is based off of dural, a virtua fighter character. I'm surprised you didn't mention the perfumes you use in tandem with the weapons! Like the perfume with rakshasa gives her a an Indian inspired skirt and head cover or the numchuchs giver her a wraparound pants with crop top!
She's such a camp icon 💋
Yes indeed
Great video. I learned alot from watching this great to see your breakdowns ! are you a fan of yoshitaka amano ?
I would love to see you take a look at Jeanne and some other side characters in another video
Yep - I'm sure I'll circle back to that eventually
Funny that her og outfit designs like Umbra, the fabric is literally her hair
True
