I had a 86, 89, 93 & now 91 ZR1. The are all easy to work on & for me they are reliable. Just do the manitenace they will last forever. I always tell folks if you looking a Corvette on a budget get a C4. You will be cool wherever you go.
I took your advice and spontaneously bought a 92 6 speed. As soon as I saw it was a manual tranny I couldn't not buy it because so many are dogomatics.
I love early C4s. Especially with the original factory rims, round tail lamps and front/recessed driving lamps. Like many designs however, ensuing changes sometimes detract from the beauty of the first examples of a generation - I don’t like the changes to the driving lamps, the back end and the tail lamps that took place in the subsequent years of the C4. The 84 was a beauty!
I agree, I always said that nothing they did to the later C4s did anything to improve the appearance, although they might have improved other things. The original C4s are unique.
Good looking car. Have an 85 project. Also factory light blue. Tires were actually 255's. But they are hard to find now, so people use 245's. These C4's won't be cheap forever.
That's a really clean 84 Corvette, I remember when they came out, man I wanted one ! Best of luck , nice to see you stepping on that right pedal and having some fun with it.
The 1984 Corvette seems to get a lot of bad press, even by corvette enthusiasts. They say it was one of the worst years? If you are selling yours let me know!
I’m getting one this year I’ve sold mine back in 1990 because some mechnanic wrecked it and I’m getting one this year I love this car it was my favorite car
I also worked as a tech at a gm dealership when c4 was released always said if I got a Vette it would be that I traded a plow truck for an 84 been making drive line good been driving two years great car
I had a 1985 c4 corvette with 53,000 original miles. Had the Doug Nash 4+3, all of the original dealership paper work with Bill of sale and had the tuned port injection. I love the c4 and owned nearly a year until it was have problems, let me tell you there's a reason why the c4, especially the 80's c4's are so cheap, and the parts are expensive plus the technology was way ahead of its time and became obsolete very fast. I plan to own another one, I loved the c4 it just sat with the problems and someone offered me a very nice price for the car, These days everything is just so expensive.
@@RustyDuckGarage Right on, I have a low mileage 90 with an auto. Convertible with a hard top. I hear ya on the parts hunt. Remanufactured rear brake calipers are a challenge. Seem like since covid hit you can find left, but right hand is hard to find. But with all 30+ year old cars or trucks that's just how it goes. Living in S.W. Oregon we don't have much in the way of shops that are Corvette repair shops. So, some things can be a challenge. But like you said, it isn't that hard for the most part. Your 84 is a great example. Thanks for sharing. Funny how you don't see a lot of C4's until you buy one. I've seen a couple running around my area. but It's when I'm out with mine. strange. Oh, one other thing. I really hear you on how many you would keep. Same here. My wife and I share the garage, so that limits that.
Nice video of a nice car! I noticed the Retro Manufacturing radio - they are great and look good! Also - If you didn't - the previous owner put slightly smaller tires on it. These came with 255 tires -which are near impossible to find now. Going down to 245 opens up more choices. I also subscribed!
@@RustyDuckGarage Thanks for the reply, I totally agree! In my area I can buy a 2nd generation Mazda 3 or a 80's C4 Vette for the same money. Now's the time to buy them if you have ever wanted one. I'm specifically looking for an 84 as I like the options I have with it. It's new enough that you don't have to spend an arm and a leg upgrading things like brakes, suspension, etc., yet old enough that if I want to drop in whatever engine I want in it, or also able to revert to a carb, or upgrade the intake without major hassles with electronics that you would have in a modern car. I love that it's also a Targa Top and still looks great for its age!
@@ravendagreyhow is the cost of maintenance for that car. I wanna buy one but not many mechanics around my area work on that type of car😭. I’ve see many cheap ones around.
@lordprometheus9263 let me say this first, I love my 84 C4. I live in Canada, so for me, sourcing some specific parts are a bit of a pain as finding parts locally is basically out of the question. Now the good news is that it's a 350 SBC (small block chevy) engine so finding parts for that aspect of the car isn't bad at all, the engine was produced for decades. Also being a "Classic car" finding reproductions of certain items are easy. Switches, lights, steering wheels, boots and knobs etc. and pretty much anything that could wear out are all available on eBay. Things like tires are a bit more complicated as the factory tire sizes are basically non existent, but there are tire calculators out there to help you figure out a replacement size that will work for you. Now I specifically bought my car as I wanted something I could work on and put myself up to the challenge without resorting to a mechanic.
Actually looks like a pretty nice car!! Good condition it seems! The only thing you need to do to make this thing complete is swap the engine out for something with some good power and you'll smack down a lot of cars!!! Way more expensive cars!!!
My 84 Corvette was the dark blue metallic all original loved that but my current 85 Corvette is the same color as yours not sure why but the light blue looks so much better than the dark blue but that's just my opinion.
If it’s not going to be a daily driver go for it. You will easily spend thousands of dollars replacing aging parts on a 40 year old car. Driving a C4 Corvette is very fun
I have an 84 c4 Corvette,,I won him in Dec 22 ,2016 ,His name is Brutis ,He still looks sexy, but right now I'm sitting outside with my passenger door open and ,the paneling, back plate and wires all hanging out because my window is stuck down I'm going to by pass the motor,I hope this works,if not then I have to figure out what to do,the window is stuck down 😢😂 I'm glad to find somebody else with the same exact vette as mine, From Galaxy
As the owner of a 1984... avoid it at all costs! They didn't come out with the new Tuned-Port Injection L98 engine until 1985. The 1984 model has a massively choked Crossfire Injection that makes the least amount of horsepower of ANY other Corvette model, including the 1950's C1!
Due to the BABVVO and TEBBVO laws, all petrol cars will unfortunately soon be banned from public streets in the EU, CH USA and Scandinavia :-( In Germany, the Green People's Party has given the order to shorten the fuel supply from 2025 by reducing all conventional gas stations to just one state-run central gas station per city or county Now they even want to slow down all gas pumps by 20 liters per minute to 2 liters per minute... From 2027, some car spare parts will also be banned in the EU... such as exhaust systems, turbochargers and even some engine and gearbox oils. .. California and New York will do the same from 2027... So no more investing in petrol cars... They even created a new type of crime here called emissions and smoke crime . "Bundesabgasbespaßungsverbotsverordnung" BABVVO in Germany and HESCHLAVVO in Switzerland!!!
I had 85 coupe 40 yrs ago. Loved it. It was very reliable after the transmission was rebuilt.

I really like the blue color
The light Blue Metallic is a fairly rare color. Shined up nicely. I really like it.

It had a super hard suspension that was uncomfortable to drive

Hey man, I’m in the Portland area too. You looking to get this off your hands?
Sorry it is long gone.
Damn that is nice
Thank you! The car is a lot fun for the money.
Your unit directional turbine fit wheels are on the wrong way. The blades are supposed to be facing backwards.
Thanks for noticing!
I just paid $6k for an 85 and it's not that nice
You got an automatic?
