This early Stephen King story is both creepy and mesmerizing... I had so much fun working on this audiobook version of "Strawberry Spring" complete with visuals of foggy nights on the campus of New Sharon Teacher's College...
Stephen King's "Strawberry Spring" was originally written in 1968 and published in Ubris Literary Magazine.
Opening theme: "Sinister" by Anno Domini Beats - บันเทิง
This Reading is Very Relaxing for me. I'm Here. 2023. ❤ 🐰
I noticed by the end that I already read this short story in my mother language when I was a teenager. I remember getting the creeps when he says he finds the word “trunk” ugly. Stephen King is amazing
I’m really glad that I found these stories. Stephen King has been my favorite author ever since I was a kid back in the 80’s. One of the very first books I ever read was King’s “It” and then I saw the movie. I loved to read his books and then get to see them turned into movies. I started to read the “Dark tower” series of books,a process that took years to read. The narrator really does a great job bringing these stories to life and I’m hoping that I can find some narrations of the Dark tower books.
My first Stephen King book was The Shining.
@@jenniferlloyd9574Mine was ‘Salem’s Lot. Second was The Shining. I was hooked and remain so to this day.
Does anyone know the audiobook of eyes the dragon Richard Bachman book?
Salem's lot scared me took a couple of years to read his books😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Maybe you should try reading Dean Koontz I've read them All right from his 1st from yrs ago to his recent and for me he is much better than King .. it's just my opinion, I'm not saying King is bad as a few of his movies are my favourites and I have read many of his books too but if you like King you should really like Koontz. Happy New yr!
I was introduced to Mr. King in high school in the early 70"s. Strawberry Spring was a story printed in The Scholastic Reader which was distributed in my public school. Nothing had ever approached this short story within that publication before. I was hooked on this young writer!
I have been a constant reader for nigh on 50 years . May he reign forever .
This is a favorite of mine, because that last line just sticks with you.
"And, oh dear God, I think so, too." Goosebumps.
My all time favorite author
Then you've come to the right place!
This reading was superb! 🤌🏻
Thank you!

I came across this channel last night n I'm enjoying it so far....ur voice is really calming 😌
Welcome!
Actually I think your voice has a creepy quality. Keep up the great work lol. I'm hooked!
I guess it had to be a little creepy for the psyciatrist, though not too much like it's forced...just a hint of sinister in it. I've also just come across this channel and have watched the one about the history of the Overlook Hotel too. Great idea narrating as George Hatfield and brilliant voice acting all round (creepy or otherwise) 😉 I really enjoyed this and have subbed.👍🏻
1968 ... just getting into his groove. This is what began the repeating cycles. Not just another repeat. Good stuff special for its time
I listen to the audio book at work was hooked instantly! Great short story king never fails!
Solid reading! I'm from New England and this kind of weather is real.
Killin' it with these videos! Well done sir!
this is so good. Love the early Stephen King. That's when he was at his best.
He quit doing coke now his writing isn't so hot for some reason. Lol
Hahahahaha, his cocaine days weren't all detrimental lol
Great to find these stories. King and I are roughly the same age and I went to a college in New England, the University of Rhode Island. He captures that era very well.
How I had missed this fabulously creepy story until now is beyond me! Jeez, Steve-O... at 20 years old you could make a grown woman feel the need to sleep with the lights on.

@Afterlife7377 the creepiest acronym you could put here

One of my favorite King stories. Really spooky.
Beatles inspired
Well done!
What excellent storytelling.. 👏 Thank you so much!
Good reading 👍
He had me hooked with Salem's Lot. Been a steady customer ever since.❤😂❤😂
Another great job narrating from my favorite book of short stories by Stephen King. Nicely done-great tone, pitch, and timing. Awesome job, once again! Looking forward to more!!!
One of my all-time favourite King stories, and it's always been my pick for his most "underrated" one. I would love to see it done as a short film, although of course it works best in the format it's in.
Fantastic reading! You really evoked its haunting imagery.
Thanks! This one combines that eerie Gothic / poetic vibe found in some of King's best moments.
It's a good story but far from his best.
I hadn't read this one. Thanks. I figured out who did it early on, but kept listening because it was written extremely well.
I recently bought bathroom scales with the name THINNER on it and remembered reading an early story of King's under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. I hope I don't lose too much weight. :)
Jon in rural BC, Canada
lol I have one of those scales too and think of the story every time I read it.
I thought about this story today as I was getting home from work. The weather had been unusually warm and wet for this time of year and my bus was going past the University Park. I saw what it looked like: all foggy and dark, the lamps shining through the haze, making these big halos, all very magical and mysterious and remembered: "we're having a honest to goodness strawberry spring, like in that story!" I felt an urge to get out of the bus and walk around there. I don't think I did, and neither did I commit any wrongdoings on my way home, as far as I can tell.
Wonderfully read! Thank you!
I love Stephen King!
Then you've come to the right place :)
This reading was *chef's kiss*
Stephen King 😌 Ole Reliable
I just bought Graveyard Shift. I had no idea he had short story and novella collections. I’m not a fan of his newest work, but I like the older stuff. Great narration. Fantastic voice.
Thank you so much!
Strawberry Spring sounds like it should be lovely but this story definitely says that it is not good at all. Great narrator. I had read many Stephen King books but hadn't heard of this short story.
Smooth velvet nervesooting voice❤😊 7:53
This is the best reading of this 4:06 story that I have ever heard! Thank you.
Very well done. Thanks for doing this 😊

@@sparklemotion8377 😉😉
Simply, thank you.
Excellent reading!
Thank you!
Wonderful reading and I love the images you chose. I read this story before I went to college in New England 30 years ago. I thought of it every time I walked anywhere in this kind of weather and gave myself a chill. It's so evocative.
I'm looking for something to take my mind off my husband's appointment he has tomorrow. A sigmoidoscopy. To find out if the cancer is gone. Im trusting God it's gone. Glad I found myself here. This wasn't an accident. It's a God hug. Love one another. You never know
TH¢ oil research it on rum bumble. Ri©k $1mpsion. Info is heavily sensored

Praying for you both, I hope that all is well.❤
How did it go?
2 more days! 😢. Ok time to set the notification!!😊😊
now this is something else
Is this allowed? Love it before the strike.
Quite a twist at the end....don't forget king was only 20 in 1968....that's impressive asf...damn how did he do it
Quietly, he sneaks up on his audience and, in the end, reveals what I hated the most to believe.
Oh?
I've always loved this little tale. ❤
Thank you for sharing this story. 😊
Great job! Your voice is very calming and engaging.
Thank you so much for this!
Enjoyed soooo much
You are so welcome!
Excellent work with this. Still impressed that it came so early in his career...
One of his best, stays with me
I forget how much I loved his early tales.
Love the ending
So glad to have found this! Been a King fan since (1970?). Wasn’t this story eventually combined in a book with others, into a collection of short stories?
Yes, this was collected in the NIGHT SHIFT book. :)
One of the best of his early stories. That, *twist*.
LOVE THIS THANK YOU YOU TUBE AND STEPHEN KING ❤
Good story - great storyteller ❤
That was something else. Awesome narration 🤌

Oh, such a treat!!!
Lovely nod to Sandburg. Your visuals are very effective.
Easily my favorite of his early stories. Such a creepy one
I love this , wish there was more
Excellent job reading this one, dude.
Thanks this was such s good story❤
Your voice is so smooth. Wish I could also do that for my videos.
The name came from the way the original killer lept over fences and walls to escape unidentified. Not because he "left no footprints". "It was as if he had springs in the heels of his boots."
Makes quite a bit more sense, does it not?
Well read! Subtle sound effects. No AI. Well done. 👍
Hey great story. Glad this was the first I heard
The ending was amazing.😊
Love this
Thank you, very nice💗
Welcome 😊
Stumbled on your channel after listening to the Appalachian Story Teller. I'm subscribed whatever that means cuz youtube never notifies when something new comes up.
Awesome! Thank you!
Stephen King is the Elvis of authors❤. I love his short stories, short and to the point!!
Nicely read.

My pleasure!
Just found you, loved your reading 😊
Thank you! 🤗
Future stories easily seen in this. 😊
I’m beyond appreciative of free audiobooks, but holy crap…I can hear the dry mouth in every sentence and my misophonia is triggered so hard 🤣 why am I like this?! 😭
Worked it out early on but well narrated.
Goosebumps
Another home run
"Not on little cat's feet." Best line ever..
I have to admit something, I can't listen to audiobooks at all. I don't know what happened in this story... But I liked the reading. Good job :)
spooky i loved it
I knew from the beginning predictable. Very much enjoyed it though. Thankyou. Now onto boogyman 😮
This is incredible! Loved the reading, it captured the creepy atmosphere so well.
Thank you! 😄
So the narrator was the killer
I knew it from the very beginning.
