A Telescope without a dome

The HESS (High Energy Stereoscopic System) telescopes are like nothing you have ever seen. Standing in the middle of nowhere, out in the open, without any protection from the elements!
This video describes a trip to this bucket list destination with some behind the scenes views of this most peculiar telescope that looks like a scene out of a Mad Max movie!

Willie this was very very interesting, besides that I never knew of this place the mere fact that there is no protection and continue to work is a miracle in many ways, will not try to wright here what astonish me, thanks for sharing

When I was a teenager I read a book called “First Light” by Richard Preston, that in some ways focused on the technical aspect of telescopes (in this case, the Hale telescope) that fascinated me. I love your content because you also focus on the nuts, bolts and electronics aspect of telescopes, an aspect of large scale astronomy that is often just glossed over elsewhere.
