Great sewing!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Thanks. BTW totally agree about Pattern Emporium patterns - they're brilliant, such good value & GREAT instructions, images, support etc. Fabulous brand. 👋🏼
I had exactly the same problem that you describe, with a hook and eye at the top of a keyhole opening in the back. I solved it by squashing the hook slightly, so that it was necessary to pull the eye a bit to get it out of the hook. I used a pair of small pliers but I am sure they weren't really necessary, as the force required to squash the hook was slight.

You're right, Kim. Sadly, I can no longer buy a pattern that used to come in one size and cut right into it. I didn't realize how easy I had it when I was first sewing my clothes as a teen. I also didn't know how to alter anything that didn't fit! Love that you are doing this series looking at all your garments and sharing the adjustments. Your blouses are absolutely beautiful in gorgeous fabric. However, I see a pattern flaw in that you choose all of your makes at least 1 size too small. What does that mean to use your upper bust measurement instead of your full bust measurement? I know what the 2 measurements are, but do you plug your upper bust measurement into the full bust measurement table and choose the size that has that measurement as the full bust measurement size? I hear vloggers saying that they are using their high bust measurement instead of their full bust measurement, but don't really know what they mean. I always go with the high bust measurement when it is included in the pattern measurement chart, like in Pattern Emporium. If not, I just look at the finished measurements, or measure the pattern if the measurement I want isn't included, and use that corresponding size, grading as needed.
@@sew_So_beautiful OK. I'll try to explain as best I can. The upper bust measurement is the same as the high bust measurement. The measurement is taken across the back and directly under the armholes across the front of your chest (top of your bust). Some pattern companies, usually the independent pattern designers, rather than the big 4 pattern companies, mention the upper bust measurement in their patterns. The process of fitting a garment is to work from the top of your body downwards; so the shoulders, then the upper bust, then the full bust, the waist and then the hips. If the full bust measurement is more than 2" bigger than the upper bust you should consider doing a full bust adjustment. If the garment has a lot of ease you can get away with fitting the blouse/shirt using your upper bust measurement. If the blouse/shirt is more fitted you'd be better doing a full bust adjustment. You have to decide what method to use in relation to your body shape. It's trial and error. I've made things where I've decided not to do a full bust adjustment and found that the garment would, in reflection, benefited from a full bust adjustment to achieve a better fit. Hopefully this helps! ❤️
