    I had all but given up on photography because of poor results, when I stumbled upon your videos. What a difference they have made! The quality of my photographs has skyrocketed, and I owe it all to you. Thank you, thank you, and thank you again. I'm now an enthusiastic photographer, instead of a depressed one. This video is terrific.

    That’s all true. Of all the photographers I follow on TH-cam, most photos from Serge Ramelli are consistently more stunning than all others all the time. And his explanations are great to follow too. Merci Monsieur Serge Ramelli. Joyeux Noël et Bonne Année 2024.

    Hello Serge. I'm Canadian spending 3 months in Europe. We flew to Paris where I spent 3 days there. I didn't have the chance to take long exposure, but did manage to take lots of photos of Paris. Your videos are superb and my photography went to bad to very good thanks to you.

    Hello Serge, I would like to thank you for the values you added to my photography. I met you 4 years ago. It made a great moral contribution to me during my asylum process in Switzerland. I see that their equipment has changed during this process. While you used to use more normal lenses, now you are using much more expensive lenses. Your old equipment gave me courage. Thanks

    I've been watching your videos on TH-cam for a long time. I learned a lot from you on how to process photos of cityscapes. Thank you for your positivity and love for photography.
    Unfortunately, there are not many such beautiful cities in the world as Paris, where a photographer can fully use all his skills.😊🎉❤

    Serge - I am instantly an avid subscriber. Love your lesson here. I have thousands of photos of Paris all taken during October through February over four trips to Paris over a ten year period; all with my Nikon D90. I'm now glad I took them during this time. I've gone back and compared some of mine with the examples your discussed . Its given me confidence that I did ok most of the time with composition and light. I wished I had known more about long exposure techniques then.
    I constantly ache to be back in Paris and yes, immerse ourselves in Montmartre we got to know so well. Having watched your lesson here, the ache/ the urge is now nearly uncontrollable - pack and go!!!

    I was in Paris a lot 20 years ago. One of my two favorite cities (the other is "the Paris of South America"--Buenos Aires). I do not do international travel any longer but, I will use what I am learning around my area of California. Thank you for the explanations & showing what can be done. (I loved walking around Paris-which I did a lot in the 2000's.)

    Magnifique Serge - that was wonderful and inspiring to see how you think through the composition and settings - thank you.
    I'm watching this with my daughter who is off on a school trip to Rome at Easter 2024. She says can you do another photowalk like this Paris one but next time in Rome and give some of the backstory to some of your AMAZING series of photos of Rome and - "Rome by Night".
    Also you had a Pro-Spec F2.8 lens and shot at F7, so please....can you get near the same feel with a Kit Zoom F3.5-5.6; 18-55mm on APS sensors - the sort of DSLR a teenager can afford for their first visit to the city? It may not be so good at ASA more than 16,000 (like most it gets noisy @32,000) but it can shoot HDR sequences.
    Merci pour toute l'inspiration !

    Loved this video and the new versions of your old images. I've been a fan of yours for years and I continue to draw inspiration from your videos and incorporate your techniques into my own photos. I'm a fellow Sony A7RV shooter and was about to give up on long exposure photography with this camera because it was taking the camera same amount of time to process a long exposure image as it took to shoot it. For an 8 minute exposure it was a 16 minute process from start to finish. Thanks to excellent customer support at Sony I learned that the problem was I had the long exposure noise reduction feature turned on. Can't wait to get out and shoot long exposures now.

    I'm a little confused about the statement 'We are here in Montmartre, the oldest place in Paris,' when the place was officially annexed to the city in 1860. Before that, it was a tiny separate village outside of the city limits. If anything, Montmartre is one of the most recent parts of the city of Paris. You literally have places near the Seine River with ruins dated to the pre-Roman era. You can find remnants of Lutetia on the Île de la Cité.

I bought a set of presets ($47) for Lightroom Mobile and all I got is xmp files, which I can't import into Lightroom Mobile, since I don't own a desktop PC nor other version of LR. Can I ask why you would shoot at F22. And then also reach that to someone. Anyone with some photo knowledge and lens knowledge should know at F22 you will have refraction. Causing your image to lose sharpness.

    • @christopherward5065
      @christopherward5065 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Diffraction rather than refraction. However, you need to consider if it is a real problem or not. To what degree is it a problem. Most lenses stop down to f22 so, f22 must be fine as an aperture. The focused image is there with some marginal softening from diffraction. I would say that post-production could limit the effects in practice. Received wisdom might not always be reality in every case and not a serious or debilitating problem in image making.
