- A ride on board the current oldest remaining bus in the Edmonton Transit System's fleet, 1998 New Flyer D40LF #4046, on Route 80 (Southgate/Capilano) from Ferrier Transit Garage to Southgate LRT station.
Specs:
Cummins C8.3E
Allison B400R5
1:57 I love the sound of the howl when it slows down than speeds up.
Oh yes! Good old classic MAN axles! They sound so good! Its like music to my ears! Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about!
19 YEARS OLD AND STILL RUNS GOOD!!!!
Kevin Northover now 20
I wonder why did ETS did not pick a New Flyer D40lf (1998-1999) with a Detroit Diesel Series 50 ?
Chuck Camarce Films Yea man! The series 50 is a awesome engine. But at least this bus has nice MAN axles even though it has a Cummins ISC in it but it’s still a great sounding bus
You sure this bus has a C8.3? We have ISLs that sound exactly the same, except they were made almost a decade later.
yes I can tell this has an ISC. ISL sounds similar
Replying six years later, it is an ISC you can tell by the idling.
We still have 1993s in Calgary. :P
+KigoTransit Nice
how many of the 98s are still in service?
Only 4086 retired so far (FIRE).
Dennis Hampton most of them are retired, there are only a handful of them left :/
please, MTA has 1995-1996 buses
They sound like Detroit diesel series 50
Not really.
carlgags Sounds like the series 50 to me but very little, it sounds more like the Cummins ISC to me
@KylTransit It for sure is a C8.3. Idle sounds very much like the ISCs we have in Calgary.
