Hello, I kept my d850 and d500 after my purchase of the Z9, and was loathed to let them go. My Z9 replaced my d5. I watched too you tube critics of the Z8 and kept it at bay. My problem was even though I loved my DSLR’s they became a pain to switch too as my Z9 was so easy to use. When Nikon released firmware 2.0 on the Z8, that was the signal I had been waiting for, and made the exchange. The Z8 is the perfect second camera for me, most menus and setting are in line with both bodies. Each camera has specific strengths for different occasions for me and I feel they will be with me a long time. The battery on the Z8 is the weak point, however, it won’t be that long before we see an upgrade I’m sure. Like your self, I carry spares with me mainly from my d500 days. Love the channel…….. thank you TonyH

Thanks Tony. When I got my Z6 in early 2019, it took me a while to get used to it. It has some weaknesses but I got to like it. The Z8 is almost perfect for me. Except for the battery life. But the batteries are so small and light it’s no problem carrying spares.

That you Ronald. I’ve been a Nikon shooter for over 50 years, but I try to be objective.

Thank you for your 1 year review and experience with the Z8. I don’t have one yet but definitely considering it. I have D850 and Z7, my d850 is such a work horse that I struggle to plunge into a Z8. I suspect that if I get Z8 the D850 will get retired to the shelf of old cameras. Anyway, thank you for your review.

That you Leo. Image quality from the D850 is about the same as the D850. The big advantage with the Z8 is frame rate, autofocus and video. Also the rear screen that works great for low angle vertical shots.

I'm waiting to see what they come out with for the Z7III. Depending on it's specs, I'll either get that or the Z8.

There has been so much on the Z6III for over a year. I’m curious to see have many of the rumors are true. Thanks for watching.

I do have a D700, a D810, and a Z8. The problem with the Z8 is that it makes me want to photograph all the time! Not perfect, but an incredible camera.

39,000 photos in the space of one year? Jeez! P.S. Like the ring-light reflections in your glasses. ;)

A lot of that was some sports and birds at 20fps.

While Jules apologises with sports, birds, and 20fps, it's only 107 shots per day, if shot every day. In the digital age, that's nothing, as you have to come home with 3,000 shots in the end of each day. I've seen that kind of photographer working, saying they hoped to have 2 or 3 usable shots in the end of the day. I would come home with 150, of which 75 commercially usable. A high-end wedding shoot in the film days would not exceed 100 shots significantly, way back. And we might shoot 120 shots for that.
