When I was pregnant with my baby with DS, I was looking for someone like you to speak to my heart. Somehow I wasn’t able to find your ted talk. My daughter is 16 months now. I feel immense love, pride and joy being her mom. I’m proud of us, parents of our beloved children. My daughter is my biggest joy and I know she will be ok. I just know it. 17 warm minutes. Thank you

I’m pregnant with a son with ds that has a congenital heart defect. I am going for my first fetal echocardiogram to see the exact and steps to take. I hope it is ok and I hope he comes out with less problems than I fear (which is quite a bit so that is highly likely) I hope he is happy and gets healthy I accept it will be a journey to get to. Me my self have seen other ds kids and adults and always felt they brighten up the room with the smile and there heart. A week before diagnosis it was the fourth I saw a ds teen with mom or aunt joking around it was the cutest thing so I am ready for the fight to get to that point where it’s mostly smiles. Right now I still have worries but we will get there

As a SEN teacher I have seen many students find valuable roles in their community and our society, and who just happen to have Down syndrome... a truely inspirational talk!

It is 2023 as I write. And I have seen this wonderful TED talk of yours, and also the one with Karen Gaffney, who swam the English Channel. Ideas (opinions?) about DS people - what they can and cannot do, what they are supposed to be able to do, what society tells them they ought not to do...on and on...Nowadays people with DS have businesses, act in films, perform onstage, go to school, get married, and the list goes on....

This is so much beyond being a wonderful mother - it is an inspiration to other mothers and fathers, a role that you must have been chosen to fulfil. As you said 'God does not give us more than we can handle' to which Mother Teresa added 'I sometimes wish He didn't trust me so much.'

I love your talks Charlotte, the work you have done at the UN is incredible, thank you for working so hard for our community. We are both working to the same end, to make people stop and think again about Down's syndrome, especially when they are pregnant. You are right, every parent feels differently when their precious baby is born and we can all only share our own stories I suppose. Thank you for watching. Much love, Hayley.
