Not super important, but the remote on the hose is not what's talking to the vac. The batteries have built-in bluetooth so when they give power they also talk to the vacuum directly to have it turn on.

You know I said that and immediately questioned if I had that right.

Just picked up that cordless Kapex. I’ve been a trim carpenter for nearly 20 years & 95% of the time a smaller miter saw with a deep cross cut is all you need. You’ll occasionally need the 12” for the large crowns and decorative beams but that saw can stay in the shop until it’s needed. I’ve switched to mostly cordless as well.

Been using Festool for over 20 years! They are simply the best power tool company, with Metabo coming in second for another of my personal favorites.

But you need 8 batteries to keep both going all day, and if you cant charge the batteries then what do you do?

Great video demo. At the 2:05 min video time what tool pouch is the carpenter using? It looks like a slim utility pouch for finish work👍🔨🪚.

I might have to get one of these. As i get older, smaller and lighter becomes a priority. The folding stand makes the setup huge though?

      Not really. It’s super compact.

I have the corded saw with the stand. The stand is by far the best part of the whole thing. Setup is really fast and easy and the functionality is better than anything else on the market. Looking at the cordless saw now

Their tools are often great but one omission like in the new portable finish carpenter tablesaw is it being battery only and in other cases their lineup could really use more tools with both battery and cord. Festool prides itself on solving unqiue tool challenges and this is one they have time and time again ignored.
I have a feeling with mineral shortages looming and the like this next decade is going to see a huge price jump in lithium ion batteries and I for one would want an alternative still if things come to that etc. So dual battery and cord just seems like the professional choice.
Any time one buys into a whole ecosystem the benefits can be obvious while the frustration and risk of some things not being right or addressed are just more annoying. Again I hope more Festool users when posting their reviews or experiences will start to address both sides of the challenges because they are great tools but they also have many oversights which would be helpul to discuss openly. Plus the cost issue with those oversights can many times feel not right to the average builder, craftsman or hobbyist.
Again I own a lot of their tools and still feel this way.
