The remake's biggest flaw is not including this intro. One of the most memorable iconic moments for me is experiencing this intro in the original as a boy and the music sticking with me forever into adulthood.

It looks like they kinda tried to go for that effect cause the shadows are heavy on her eyes, just not as big a contrast as in the original thanks to the newer lighting. I don’t mind it. Makes it feel just as strange to see her lifeless eyes
If you watch the scene again, they actually do give her eyes shadows like you said. The only difference is it doesn't show it until James looks away/leaves the room. The camera cuts back to Maria and she has a much more sinister look with her eyes shrouded in shadow, as if she were hiding her true intentions/feelings towards him up until he left.
this FMV literally spoils the whole game, sure it's a really cool FMV but it's actually really stupid to play this when someone plays the game for the first time. What's the point?? Removing it is absolutely the right decision

Even listening to the music before playing is a spoiler - a spoiler for the vibe the game is going for. Usually I don’t really care about spoilers, say, Dark Souls (which many ppl care about spoilers for) I didnt mind getting spoiled about because whether the next boss is a big snake or a big knight doesn’t really matter to me as long as they’re fun. But in Silent Hill (entire franchise) aswell as most horror/mystery stories and games, knowing anything at all is already a massive spoiler. I’m now watching the TH-camr About Oliver play the game, and he had never heard of a single thing about SH2, it’s his first time and watching him actually theorize that this might be a zombie game is awesome. I wish I hadn’t seen this intro when I played SH2 many years ago, because it kind of told me what the story is gonna be. I love seeing Oliver now genuinely discover the nature of the town and the psychological horror at play (and the fact that this even is a psychological horror game) on his own, the game becomes so much more fascinating when these things are discovered naturally. He still hasn’t figured it out btw, he still thinks there’s some experiment gone wrong in the town, and even had a theory about aliens (the game sets this up with the lights in the sky thing).
@@Drakleftw i gave it a shot but it uses bk2 video format which i have to pay a license for an encoder on bink's sdk. i then ran into the issue of the audio and video playing from 2 separate places and no way around having to buy a license

Though not perfect, the story trailer does pay tribute to the intro in its sequencing, albeit with Promise instead.

This sequence was supposed to play after the hospital, outside during the night. Laura would run off again, but you could talk to Eddie who was trying to figure out a way out of town by examining his map. 2. Angela running in the windows. This was supposed to be seen as you approach the Lakeview Hotel. This is likely her running from more Abstract Daddies, which populated that location in the base game, showing that she is still tormented and it never ends for her even after you saved her once. 3. Laura walking into the room. This was supposed to play after James watched the video tape as Laura entered the room and was happy to finally locate James. 4. James carrying Mary through the prison. This was supposed to play during the ending sequence, showing him carry her body after he picks her up from the bed when she finally succumbs in the final conversation between the two of them. ...The ones with the jail cell, the mannequins intertwined, and Maria laying on the stage were all probably just extra shots they made for promotional stuff. It's possible the Maria one was somehow implemented in the game (maybe she'd lay down on the stage after going ahead of you and there would be an in-engine moment where she'd get up when you tried to leave.)

Meaning that Laura has at the very least seen James during the visits, Mary told him who he was and thats why she was able to tell who he was just by looking at him physically without him introducing himself. So the line "huh are you blind or something?" is basically an 8 years old way of saying "You seriously dont recognize me??".
@@StudioMod she's the only one who sees Silent Hill as a normal town. She doesn't see monsters or even the fog. For a very deep dive into accurate Silent Hill lore I'd highly recommend Twin Perfect's The Silent Hill Experience series on TH-cam. It's very long but worth it.

Been waiting for someone to do this. EXCELLENT!!! Music drowns out the voices tho. I'm in a music studio with amazing speakers and acoustical treatment as I type this.
It's tricky with the audio. I used a dynamic software to level them out but it's actually the song that gets progressively louder. I tried to manage that too, but even still, the voices are slightly drowned out in one or two spots.
In the og you have this intro without the voices before beating the game, then they add them. It was very emotional to watch it back and reliving all these moments after beating the game. I don't know why they didn't keep it.

I was hoping they'd actually include that into the game along with Eddie and Laura out at night by the white van looking over the map. With all the stuff they were adding, I thought that would be nice. I sorely missed Eddie and Laura's scene together.
I remember back then, those years, by somehow, theres was a topic mentioning that Videogames could it be named as "Art", some movie directors did not like the idea of that. I always disagree and Silent Hill 2 was the proof that a videogame could it be very emotional and deep. Since then i defend that idea and with the technology of now, the reaction of the people of this remake, vocals, acting, real graphics, story and the involve of the player, THIS GAME IS (AND WAS) REAL ART. Always love this game and i always keep loving this very story.

I remember back then, those years, by somehow, theres was a topic mentioning that Videogames could it be named as "Art", some movie directors did not like the idea of that. I always disagree and Silent Hill 2 was the proof that a videogame could it be very emotional and deep. Since then i defend that idea and with the technology of now, the reaction of the people of this remake, vocals, acting, real graphics, story and the involve of the player, THIS GAME IS (AND WAS) REAL ART. Always love this game and i always keep loving this very story.
Another month until the official soundtrack release,... ugh November cannot come soon enough

No es para tanto. Es solo un remake, el original es mejor en varios aspectos, aunque claro, no se pueden comparar las gráficas entre 3 generaciones de consolas distintas.
