This video is so informative and beautiful! I watched it 10 times:) Hello, Sarah.💜 It's my first time leaving a comment. I converted a while ago. A year passed quickly! Your channel is my resting place. In the process of conversion, I followed other Jewish sns because I wanted to get to know them more. But Some people discriminated against reform Jews. Posting political, propaganda posts. Yeah, I might be less religious and secular. But I feel a strong bond with God. I think they were hostile because they were hurt by narrow-minded people.. I admire and look up at Jews of all denominations.(My ultimate goal is to convert to the modern orthodox Jew.) Your channel is not political and focuses on Judaism. It's comfortable and warm. Thank you for making the video even though you are busy! +I'm glad your channel is growing. Baruch tihiyeh♥️
Warm roasted beets are SO yummy! Me and Dad were terrible thieves when Mama fixed them she had to run us out of the kitchen or there would have been none left for the salad!
Hi Diana! Thank you for your lovely comment! I am delighted this could help you with your Shabbat preparations! You have a very musical ear: English is actually my 4th language after Alsacien, French, German ! Let me know if I can help you with anything! Kindest regards!❤️ Sara Malka❤️
Wow! If you’re organized and know what you’re doing, which you do! You definitely could do this in 60-90 minutes. Do you ever use Sumac in your seasonings? I’m familiar with that from Persian food…but I’ve never encountered it anywhere else. Also…celery root…I’ve seen it, never tried it. Does it taste like celery? The carrot salad looks great…so simple and so delicious looking! Question…are eggs meat or dairy or something else? I forget what things like vegetables and fruit (fresh not processed) are considered…and, if I’m correct, they are always Kosher? (I hope I don’t ask you too many questions..I just like to know and understand.) Thanks so much! So much healthy food, and easily and quickly prepared! Also, would be very easy to adjust seasonings to different preferences, or moods, lol.
Hi Gail! I am happy you are here! Please let me know if you have any questions or need any help: I am here for you❤️❤️❤️ Looking forward to reading you again soon with tomorrow’s upload for my Friday routine! Stay safe and blessed my new friend! Love Sara Malka
@@frumitup Actually I do have a question for you. 6:31, you are using the same hot plat system I purchased a while back and have not put to use yet. I have been learning for the last 7 years how to walk in Torah, Sabbath and festivals, etc. And trying to learn how to prepare meals in advance for Sabbath. Does this hot plat system typically get used only for Friday night dinner, or is it left warming overnight for lunch options as well? I so desire to learn how to walk out these details for sabbath meal preps. I understand there may be differences in how some do these things, but if you could expound on how you manage 2nd day meals would be a blessing. I have Sabbath mode on my oven also, but don’t fully understand how to set these things up. I would appreciate any input you could expound on. Thank you. And thank you for the lovely meal idea’s you shared 😊💕
@@gail7138 I feel so blessed and honoured you are reaching out to me and asking your wonderful questions Gail❤️ The hot plate or warming tray is set ion a timer before Shabbat to be on between 3-10 pm and 9-13h in the day As long as your meal was fully cooked before Shabbat you can reheat it during Shabbat on your hot plate that was turned on or set before Shabbat For us , Shabbat lunch is challah, salads and cholent/ dafina in the crockpot: so I do not use the hot plate BUT I would use the hot plate on Yom Tov/ Jewish holidays and warm my food on it then. For your oven Shabbat mode , it’s funny you are talking about it now because I am talking about it in tomorrow’s video all about my Friday Shabbat preparation routine!!! The Shabbat mode allows you to put things to warm up before Shabbat in your oven and allows you to take them out during Shabbat with no issues i.e. no oven light turning on, no change in temperature,… all that would be problematic on Shabbat! I hope it helps you and please let me know if you have more questions: I love to help you❤️❤️❤️
I love your presentation. But a couple of concerns. Strawberries. Is it enough just to put them in water to deal with the bugs issue? Also, I remember learning that we should not place something completely inclosed in a bag ( rice, in your case) inside a pot even before Shabbos. To avoid "hatmana", I believe, one is supposed to make a few holes in the bag. And, of course, for those living in Eretz Isroel, a lot more produce checking is needed ( not sure about other countries). E.g., beets. May I suggest to everyone to look things up in a book called " Birkas Hamazon" by Rabbi Moshe Vaye, shlit"a. Have a great Shabbos.
HiCapa! thank you so much for your comment I love the Sefer/ book that I think you are referring to : my book is called BEDIKAH HAMAZON ( not BIRKAS HAMAZON) by Rabbi Vaye and this is the book that I use to do the verification of all my fruits vegetables and grains I am not sure to what you are referring to as per only water for the Bedikah / verification I use a very specific method that is outlined in the book I just referred to and I did a video on how to verify rice and grain and I will leave the link for you th-cam.com/video/1MMupm_H2GQ/w-d-xo.html For the chickpeas, because it’s in a can, no verification is needed, if I would have used dry chickpeas I would have done the rehydration and hand verification ( I also talked about it in my hummus video) As per the bag of rice in the dafina, there’s no hatmana prohibition involved will not hasten the cooking process as it is not in direct contact with source of heat. The full melacha described in the Mishnah was to burry your baking good under the coals/ sand to cook/bake faster which is not involved in the case we are describing As usual I will refer you to your LOR to see what your community holds but as per this video, there’s no issue of Hatmana using this cooking rice and for the verification, it is not a subject that I addressed in this video ( it would have been way too long!!) but that I have addressed in other videos like the hummus and the rice checking. As per the beats, here in America, a simple visual inspection is needed, fresh green beans they only need to be soaked in soapy water/ salt then verified , no verification is needed for carrots, celery root eggplant and onions I hope it helps!! Let me know if you have more questions! Kind regards Sara Malka
Thank you for your detailed response. Of course, "Bdikas Hamazon"! I remember that in America, where I assume you are currently living, checking for bugs is not so tough as here in Eretz Isroel. But I believe that strawberries cannot be soaked just in water. Also, when cutting off the tops, one has to be careful not to cut too low. If the hollow middle is exposed, a strawberry needs to be cut vertically and inspected further, in case a bug has fallen into it. I will try to ask my rabbi, R'Barclay, shlit"a, next Wednesday, about the "hatmana " issue, but I am pretty sure that he holds that if a bag with food is submerged in a pot of liquid or food, it is a problem, even if it was done before Shabbos. If you have his "Guidelines " series ", you can check the "Bishul " book. It's after 3AM here, so I have no koach to do it at the moment myself. Thanks, again. Sarah (Capa in Russian letters🙂).
@@capa6137 hi Sarah, No Bedikah was shown of the strawberry in this video as it would again taken too much time as the tip need to be removed without making a hole in the strawberry, then it need to be soaked in a soapy solution for 5 minutes then put under a stream of water then visually checked . It seems perhaps you think that the images of the strawberry being put on water was the Bedikah? It was not it was simply a transition image to introduce the strawberry in chocolate! As per Hatmana , In the shulchan Aruch, a cooking bag in a secondary container is not hatmana. Of for example I would wrap up on top and at the bottom and on the side my main container like a crockpot yes, it would be an issue of hatmana but in this case it is a secondary container, there’s no issue it maybe your rabbi follow a chumcha concerning this? But halachically, it is permitted:) Thank you again for your comment!:)
@@frumitup , thanks for your detailed response. First of all, may I suggest that you should at least mention the necessity of checking strawberries and such ( the impression is that soaking in water IS the checking), and refer your audience to the videos you mentioned? As to the bag of rice, I asked my rabbi today. His answer was: if the bag is closed tightly, it shouldn't be submerged completely. The ashkenazim allow using such a bag, if part of it is not covered with the food in the "primary " pot. For sefardim even this is forbidden. The best solution is to make a couple of small holes in the bag before Shabbat, so that the flavor of the surrounding food can seep in. Kol tuv.
@@capa6137 thank you for your answer. We reviewed the shulchan Aruch and it is clearly stated that a closed bag in a secondary cooking vessel is NOT hatmana; we also asked Rabbi Elbaz posek Halacha who confirmed it too. I guess we follow different minhagin:) Stay safe and blessed!

Lovely video but I think it would take a lot of practice to be able to do this in an hour. I'm going to try though. How long can you safely keep the food on the shabbat heating plate?
Hi Frankie! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! First and foremost, I am so sorry for the delay in my answer, I see in my master reply list in TH-cam studio I answered your questions 6 months ago but when I answered Ruth Rachel questions, I saw that my answer was not posted! Sorry about that! You are right! It takes time to acquire a habit ! This particular Shabbat prep takes me about 45 minutes now because it is second nature but it took me around 1h ish before. With time Frankie, I am sure you will do it in no time!! For the time food is good on a hot plate: it depends on the temperature of your hot plate/Shabbat heating plate: 2-4h usually is the FDA recommendation For a crockpot you can go for 12-30h no problem I hope it helps! Thank you again for your comment Frankie! Stay safe and blessed!❤️❤️

PS I am so sorry I did not answer you yesterday for some odd reason I did not get any notifications from YT that I had comments..ahhh we love IT no??
Yes, it takes me a couple of days. I prepare all my salads on Wednesdays, and on Thursdays I make my meal and side dishes. On Fridays, I clean the house. But, since the Corona so many of us were laid-off so I can make and clean everything on Fridays. But since I started following you on YT, I am able to learn tons of tricks of the trade. Thank you and Shabbat Shalom to all!!

I love how a lot of the individual vegetables, etc., can be prepared in advance and either refrigerated or frozen until needed (to help cut down on kitchen chaos), or could even be purchased already-shredded/cut, ready to be steamed, etc.

I would love to better understand how you feel everything takes more time in the Covid era? Is it the action itself? The preparations?
For me personally, whether Covid era or not, preparing meals, tasks,..etc take me the same amount of time but gathering the supply takes longer i.e. to get what I need for the prep sometimes takes me 2-3 stores to get instead of just one like before!
Do you have the same phenomenon where you live?

I am from New York, where are you? from may i ask....i just subscribe to your channel.
This video is so informative and beautiful! I watched it 10 times:)
Hello, Sarah.💜 It's my first time leaving a comment.
I admire and look up at Jews of all denominations.(My ultimate goal is to convert to the modern orthodox Jew.)
Your channel is not political and focuses on Judaism.

Hi shalom
Hello. Your recipes look wonderful. May i ask why you keep the rice seperate?
Hi! because It separates the taste and gives more dimension to the cholent/dafina:)
When you add eggs to the dafina, are they already boiled and peeled? Or do you add the egg in the shell and cook it IN the dafina? Love your channel.
hi! i take uncooked eggs in their shells and place them as is in the dafina :)
The dish you made in the crock pot, how so you serve it? Could you show us please? Are the eggs raw and they will cook in the crock pot?

@@gail7138 I feel so blessed and honoured you are reaching out to me and asking your wonderful questions Gail❤️
The hot plate or warming tray is set ion a timer before Shabbat to be on between 3-10 pm and 9-13h in the day
As long as your meal was fully cooked before Shabbat you can reheat it during Shabbat on your hot plate that was turned on or set before Shabbat
For us , Shabbat lunch is challah, salads and cholent/ dafina in the crockpot: so I do not use the hot plate BUT I would use the hot plate on Yom Tov/ Jewish holidays and warm my food on it then.

Thanks for this great video. I am wondering how one heats the salmon on the hotplate without it drying out?
I leave it in the baking dish covered with its sauce and it is placed before shabbat on the hot plate and it stays moist:)
@@frumitup great to know, thanks!
Tu fais rever! Merci!
Hello, thank you for this video! I have a question about the Dafina is the bag you used for the rice an oven bag? Thank you
yes! it is an oven bag:)
What is the spice mixure though for the fish…
Love the celery root salad and the 🧄 🍆
I love your presentation.
HiCapa!
thank you so much for your comment
I love the Sefer/ book that I think you are referring to : my book is called BEDIKAH HAMAZON ( not BIRKAS HAMAZON) by Rabbi Vaye and this is the book that I use to do the verification of all my fruits vegetables and grains
I am not sure to what you are referring to as per only water for the Bedikah / verification
I use a very specific method that is outlined in the book I just referred to and I did a video on how to verify rice and grain and I will leave the link for you
th-cam.com/video/1MMupm_H2GQ/w-d-xo.html
For the chickpeas, because it’s in a can, no verification is needed, if I would have used dry chickpeas I would have done the rehydration and hand verification ( I also talked about it in my hummus video)
As per the bag of rice in the dafina, there’s no hatmana prohibition involved will not hasten the cooking process as it is not in direct contact with source of heat. The full melacha described in the Mishnah was to burry your baking good under the coals/ sand to cook/bake faster which is not involved in the case we are describing
As usual I will refer you to your LOR to see what your community holds but as per this video, there’s no issue of Hatmana using this cooking rice and for the verification, it is not a subject that I addressed in this video ( it would have been way too long!!) but that I have addressed in other videos like the hummus and the rice checking.
As per the beats, here in America, a simple visual inspection is needed, fresh green beans they only need to be soaked in soapy water/ salt then verified , no verification is needed for carrots, celery root eggplant and onions
I hope it helps!!
Let me know if you have more questions!
Kind regards
Sara Malka
@@capa6137 hi Sarah,
No Bedikah was shown of the strawberry in this video as it would again taken too much time as the tip need to be removed without making a hole in the strawberry, then it need to be soaked in a soapy solution for 5 minutes then put under a stream of water then visually checked .
But halachically, it is permitted:)
Thank you again for your comment!:)
I guess we follow different minhagin:)
Stay safe and blessed!
Love your videos, but this one is very ambitious. Maybe with 1 or 2 helpers I'd get this done in 1 hour.😀

For the time food is good on a hot plate: it depends on the temperature of your hot plate/Shabbat heating plate:
2-4h usually is the FDA recommendation
For a crockpot you can go for 12-30h no problem
I hope it helps!
Thank you again for your comment Frankie!

1 tsp cumin

1 cup of bread crumbs ( with gluten or gluten free we love Jason’s gluten free)not crumble apart
1 crushed clove of garlic
1/2 very finely chopped onions
