@@lucibellasandverse no I just finished season 1 yesterday! But I’m so happy to know she changes lol I wasn’t really feeling the way they wrote her character, especially with me being a DSBW as well. We don’t really get good character representation.
"curvey" women, thicc women, have always been promoted in BlackAmerican cultural ideals, heck we invented it. But the unfortunate obsession with slim-thicc women, being extremely limited as the only acceptable form of thiccness, is a pretty recent problem overall. Other than the occasionally conforming to the skinny obsession of Eurocentric runways, high-fashion & some cornball directors of strip clubs, AfricanAmericans always celebrated thiccness & bootyliscioiusness of our women. Colorism was taught to us by slavery&colonialism & remains a constant problem in AfricanAmerican spaces, as we are a majority-dark skin race of people & our ancestors had no such disdain for black women born with black skin.. And a woman's chest in many pre-colonial & pre-islamic religions/cultures wasn't considered genitals, like men they could show it off, as it wasn't nudity. Note much of the Zulu & some Xhosa still today, in traditional garb. Shoniqua Shandai is awesome! She'll go far!
These words “curvy” and “thick” need to be taught. She’s not curvy, she’s thick or plus size. Stop fooling yourselves! Angela Basset is curvy, Persefone is thick.
@@nygreek743 you‘re pretty much weird for trying to tell someone what to call themself. Especially when it’s words that were made up to further divide women. Also, you‘re weird for comparing women.
@@victoriad2791 So you’re telling me you never took an English class in school? Think before you type. Why am I weird for comparing women? You don’t compare men? again don’t be foolish. Think before you type
@@nygreek743I don‘t argue with dumb people that assume I do the same thing as they do because they know they‘re in the wrong and try to justify it. Weirdo
