I was privileged to meet Pa Elton in 1986. He never said Apostle Babalola was wrong. He said his followers missed it as the revelation of God became mere religion to them and eventually many were infected and died from polluted water

Technically, it is the role of the leader to explain things properly so that the followers don't miss or abuse them. There are some things leaders don't do not because it's wrong, but because their followers will not understand it. I still think the bucks stopped on the leaders table. Also, the leaders must be thinking about future generations who will take it further.

@@shalomkind4575 Moses used the rod correctly once, but the next time he used same rod it was sinful because he ignored God's word. Even though there was result, water flowed for the people to drink, but God rebuked Moses. That's the issue. To study and follow God's word consistently and not depending on one tradition which becomes idolatry because God has a new instruction or strategy which is not followed.

Mr Sunday Adelaja, have you taken your time to study the history of C.A.C and the calling of Babalola? Joseph Babalola was never an illeterate! He was never interested in getting result, and people were not copying hin to get result. You've never had any physical contact with Pa Elton to interview him on the issues you're raising. You are only interested in finding a fault in every life and ministry of every man of God. What or where has handbell becomes an error or a sin? You should have ask why they used the handbell. Definitely, you shouldn't have use drums in churches today as well. Pa Elton didn't trained Joseph Babalola; go and check when Joseph Babalola started his ministry and when Pa Elton came to Nigeria.

The apostolic Church in the new testament anointed people with oil for healing purpose but was not misused as we have it now. They also took aprons from the bodies of the apostles for healing purpose. However the apostolic church never encouraged people to rely on these things before they can contact God.

    • @IamGodSon

Many miracles in the book of acts wasn't by anointing with oil. It was an irregular practice.

I have my odds about your extremism but this is the best comment on church doctrinal practices I have watched. I was shocked when PST. Adeboye asked all the church members to come to church with hair combs. He prayed on it and said they should be using it morning and night. I said within me that we are getting close to peganism.

I agree that our faith shouldn’t be based on what can be seen, felt or touched. But that Pa Elton anointed these men you mentioned is far from the truth.
    1. Pa Elton came to Nigeria in 1936, the Oke ọyè revival that announced Ayo Babalola was in 1930 (That was 6 years before Pa Elton came to Nigeria). In this revival there were signs and wonders; for the dead was raised, the blind saw, the lame walk witches were arrested by the power of God there were manifestation of the Pentecostal power as of old. So how come Pa Elton was the Father of Pentecostalism in Nigeria?
    2. As for the substance used by Ayo Babalola, I want you to know that God deals with people according to the level of light they have, the early 20th century was full of thick darkness in Nigeria and God needed to introduce His power to the then already Idolatrous society who despite the presence of the orthodox churches and missionaries will still go back to their shrines and idols in the evening to bow to the gods that are not God. But within few days of Ayo Babalola ministerial exploits the then Anglican vicar (a white missionary) said “Brother Ayo, you’ve achieved in three days what we couldn’t achieve in seventeen years. All these account were prior to the coming and arrival of Pa Elton. The people were already used to substance as a means to connect the person they believed to be God. God needed to reach them, go and study the account of the lords of the philistine in 1samuel when the ark of God was stolen to the house of Dagon their God (1sam 5&6). Come to think of it, did God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul so much that from him handkerchief and aprons were taken to minister to the sick and the oppressed? Read Acts 19:11-12.
If you say doctrine shouldn’t have been built around uncommon miracles I would have said you’re in order but to assume it was idolatrous practice in the then primitive society is a fallacy.
I do not agree with the way CAC has taken the use of water today cos they ought to have grown into maturity now that the light of the gospel has shine upon Africans and God has raised teachers of the word all over Nigeria.
    4. That Pa’ Elton Mentored Ayo Babalola is not true cos Babalola has been a renowned minister of the gospel long before pa Elton came.
    5. Of Pastor EA Adeboye, it is clear that baba is compromising and I believe he needs serious intercession. But he was not mentored by pa Elton, for God’s sake where did you put Late - Pa Josiah Akindayomi (the Founder and general superintendent of R.C.C.G.?) Of cause Pastor Adeboye May have contact with Pa Elton but for mentorship the credit goes to Pa Akindayomi.
    6. To say Joseph Ayo Babalola was an illiterate shows you’re not even familiar with his history cos he was educated enough in those days that as at the age of 24 he was already employed as a road worker by the then British colonial masters and he could communicate with them without an interpreter. Not only that, I have historical records of Ayo Babalola’s diary which achieved the account of how he spent his life written by himself.
I think you were misinformed cos from your words you’re using the phrase of uncertainty in your expressions. I am typing this with assurances as a graduate of both international and a sound learner of church history in Nigeria and and globally.
    7. In view of these, I am not in support of the use of substance in the miracle ministry for “the Just shall live by faith” but don’t connect the Error to the Great Apostle Ayo Babalola.
For it is written “in the latter days some shall depart from the faith” And point of correction, Pa’ Elton never annoint Pastor Adeboye or Ayo Babalola Jesus anointed these two; Adeboye was imparted through Kenneth E Haggin; and Ayo Babalola by the Lord Jesus Himself after 7 days fasting and prayer when he eat yam given to him by the Lord Jesus Himself.
    Final submission.
Before you come online to speak things like these online study your history very well because there are those of us who are very much in the midst of history.
I stand to be challenged by this piece.

In Nigeria people believe you're a true man of God, base on your physical achievements, the miracles you do, the mass or crowd you command, the political influence you have, your financial capacity. All of these except the fruit of the Holy Spirit and the teaching of Christ and the apostles is the yardstick used in measuring a man of God in Africa and Nigeria. God will help the Nigerian Church.

Dr. Sunday Adelaja, I will like to quote you: " One of Pa Elton's most famous struggles was in trying to communicate what he believed to be a more biblical interpretation.........." He said what he believed, and not what God believed or the truth communicated to him by the holy spirit. I think it will be more dignified if you had by yourself inquired the position of using the physical elements, either is wrong or right from the holy spirit before you come on air and be airing your own view or belief, certainly you cannot claim that all your rhetorics are from God or the Holy Spirit. Please I expect you to be of the spirit and not of what someone else's believe or not. Search your scriptures well before you register your comments. God bless you.

There is a way we would sing ..there is a way we would praise God..there is a way we would preach for the people to be truly blessed..Paul had to behave like Rome to win the romans, not because the behavior of Rome is the standard for the Bible..or the gospel, the way we name our children is not the way Europe name their children. The way we do our weddings is not the way Europe do theirs..are their styles found in the Bible too?

In 1999 my sister invited me to winner chapel where Oyedepo was to wash his member's feet so that anywhere they go the will possess as their own. When I asked her where it is in Bible she told me Jesus Christ washed the apostle's feet. Being a very critical person I refused because I was thought that any message that do not point to the rejection of quest for material possession is not the message of the Cross of My Lord Jesus Christ.

Why did Jesus use soil to open the eyes of the blind ? I am sorry I will advice you to do something else. God did not call Babalola home because of his errors. His time was up. I have Babalola’s daughter cell contact with me. So Pa Elton is the ultimate Bible scholar? Who was your own mentor? Dr Sunday, do something else. Dr Sunday, let me tell you there are things that can cause temporary divide between teachers and prophets. You can initiate education for a student and the student might end up becoming better than you. Apostle Paul met Peter and others in the field and he eventually surpassed all of them in gifting. Paul went to Arabia’s desert to study Bible by himself and got many of the revelations without them. Even Peter confessed that Paul was difficult to understand sometimes. I am glad I did not enroll for your school.

Bro Gbile Akanni and some few men of God in Nigeria have been teaching this truth but it seems these things have become so popular now that many thought nothing is wrong with them.
