    Hi, how would this circuit work of I was to install an on/off switch? Looking to do a DIY lightsabers hilt but wanting to create a set up with allows me to remove the chassis and when the chassis is re-installed I don't need to connect wires back u because of the magnetic contact and still only be powered up by the on/off switch, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey, this is what I am looking for, as I want to build a game for the nature centre. I need to place an 8x10 x1/2 inch info pad into a cutout square..but I only want the right answer to LIGHT UP, not shut off, which I hope is possible? (the led light will go back to the right answer info block) ...is there a more flat magnet set up I could use for this purpose? Also, what plugin do I use and that centerpiece please, I will need to get those!:) We need a plug-in so it works longer for the kids, but we also could use a battery for each light set up. I need to set up 4 lights, so is there a 4 way splitter I could use, but still only have one light on at a time, or all lights when all are correct answers? Or do I use an individual pack for each light? Thank you!

      +Christian Perez Hi Christian, our magnetic switches are specially modified at our manufacturing facility in Arizona to include the wires and cable-adapter shown in the video above, this is how the switch will arrive upon purchase. While the image on our website does display the bare switch, it is always sold with this adapter pre-connected for your convenience. Once you have your switch, cables, LED lights, and 1 AMP power supply, installation will be as simple as plug & play!

    I recently saw a video in kickstarter that a lamp turns on when magnets attract each other, and off when they're apart. Is there a component that can do that? Magnetic switches do exactly the opposite (pass current when apart)

    • @Inspiredled
      @Inspiredled  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Switch can be put in an "opposite" position so that it functions the way you described. The above switch is no longer in stock, please refer to the link in the description above for Inspired LED's newest version of the Magnetic Switch. The switch will have to be modified before ordering and shipping, so please call us with any questions 480-941-4286!

    This may fit my needs. However, 3 questions: (1) is the switch available in other colors besides Ivory? I am installing in a dark wood cabinet, and Ivory would stand out like a sore thumb. (2) I need a MUCH longer distance from the switch to the LED lights than the short (I'm guessing 6-12") length of your adapter cable. In all, I probably need a length of about 6-8' from the switch to the power source, so double that cable length. (3) I assume I can easily put two of these in a circuit - in other words, think of two doors, with the switch working if either or both doors are open.

      +conserbitarian We do have a limited quantity of the switches in the black. I highly recommend shooting an email over for confirmation on the configuration that you have described. What sort of power/wire is needed to connect to the first lead that brings power to the switch?
    I want to have a configuration where I add a wall switch after a GFI outlet to power a vanity light. After connecting to the vanity light, I want to have a light inside a recessed medicine cabinet that only turns on when the door is open (if the wall switch is on). I believe the vanity light needs something like 14/3 wire or 12/3.

    • @Inspiredled
      @Inspiredled  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for contacting us in regards to our Magnetic Switch. This specific accessory operates on low-voltage lighting systems, between 12V and 24V. In order for you to incorporate it into your system we will need to ensure the vanity light and recessed medicine cabinet are low-voltage lighting fixtures. We would be happy to assist you with this lighting configuration. We recommend emailing our Design Team directly and they can come up with a layout for you. Please send images and corresponding dimensions to design@inspiredled.com. From there, our incredible designers will create a free installation guide for you, itemized list of products, and all corresponding spec sheets. We look forward to working with you!

    Hi. Would your switch and connection sizes work with the Ikea Dioder series of LED light strips? I imagine using their, 12v .42a power supply

    • @Inspiredled
      @Inspiredled  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately Ikea does not provide enough specifications on their product details for us to determine if the connector sizes would work.

    • @cpkdude
      @cpkdude 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Inspired LED connectors are 1.3, the same as yours I believe. Well, the barrel connector at the end of the power supply cable that feeds their led splitter is 1.3 - I took it to Frys to find the size :)

    • @Inspiredled
      @Inspiredled  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as the power supply is 12V or 24V with a 3.5mm x 1.3 mm barrel connector it should work! We are always more than happen to accept returns if it doesn't work out!

    Can you use several switches to turn on/off one set of lights?

    • @alemonster2000
      @alemonster2000 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Cameron Fast Of course. This will require a bit more electrical knowledge than is typically had by someone who asks that question (I promise I don't mean offense at that). Understand that daisy-chaining the switches wouldn't work, because you would then have to have every door open for light. The simplest (I say this, but it can still be dangerous!!) is to split the power a few times, and then run it through each of these switches, and then reconnect the line at the other end of the switches back into a single line. Then, whenever you open any of the doors, the circuit is made, and you have light! I recommend you get an electrition friend before you do this though, cause house fires and electrocution typically is best avoided. Happy zaps!

    Can you actually revers what you have demonstrated.
    Example - turn power or light off when opening the door?
    This is for a number plate light that comes on when lights are turned on but if a trundle tray under the Ute tray is opened the light obviously turns off.
    Reason being the trundle tray under the Ute is as long as the Ute tray length.
    There is no way wires can be not be in the way and therefore be tangled up when closed.
    Hence a more convenient way of lighting number plate.
    I’m assuming reversing wires polarity?
    Thank you in advance.

  • @alexanderchuyko4889

    As I can see, this reed switch is not designed for power supply voltage. It can be operated with 48Volts max. So, this system needs to run a power supply unit 12V all the time (as a stand by). That means, an extra power consumption and extra bills for electricity... That`s not too effective as I see. Can it be designed for a full power cut (220 or 240 volts), please? I think the magnetic switch must be different.

    Dont believe other, i have installed on kitchen drawer ( pull out)
    NO ( Normally OPEN) - No magnet, light up, suitable for drawer as you pull out, the led light up, when drawer close, the magnet is contact with each other, then light off ...
    installation very simple, just follow my guide below
    1. from 220-240V ---> 12V power adapter --> Ground (-) connected to led strip light, then 12v power positive (+) connect to NO and COM to LED (+). You're done
    NC (Normally CLOSE) - Reverse from above... light up when magnet is near.

      A reed switch can absolutely be used to control your lights. There are two things
      to consider when choosing a reed switch:
      Contact ratings - can the it handle the
      voltage and current that you want to switch?
      Contact configuration - is the switch
      normally open or normally closed? This will be application specific, but
      typically you will want a normally closed switch so that when the magnet is
      removed the lights turn on.
      That particular switch should be able to handle up to 1A of current, but the contact
      configuration was not explicitly stated. My best guess would be normally open.

    • @pranavb104
      @pranavb104 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Inspired LED ...Thanx a lot man.....so if I want to light up a strip of led's....what current rating reed sensor should I buy....
      in your website u mention a current less than 2A is allowable for leds

    • @Inspiredled
      @Inspiredled  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our Magnetic switch is rated for 2A on a 12V system. Depending on the lighting you are running should determine the Amps you need for power. You will just need to ensure the switch you are looking at will fit into those requirements!

    I have the same magnet switch but power-ON when they are close to each other. How to change power-ON when they are apart?
