    I recently got my PPL and I wish I'd found this channel sooner. Your procedures and adherence to checklists is superior. And your narration is very enjoyable. I look forward to more videos!

    Love when you put the map up and showing flight parameters, awesome as usual!

    Nice vid, thanks for the ride along😂. In my experience, a sharp pull down on the Johnson bar is required to verify the gear is actually locked down.

    Good stuff Tom! What a plane! I just did my 2nd solo last Thursday, starting cross country training soon. Blessings

    Oh wow...just heard you say this was Good Friday. I flew in there the next day to see my daughter.

    I fly into KDYB all the time since my daughter lives in Ladson. Next time I'm down there I'll have to check in and go for a ride! I'm looking at an E model Mooney in a couple of weeks. Be a nice upgrade from my Cherokee 140! Nice video.

    Hey Tommy - the Lance you saw/mentioned at Walterboro is mine. N40SY - getting some AP upgrades at Walterboro for the last couple weeks. I’m based at HXD. I’m a new pilot working on my instrument. Watch all your videos.

    HI Tommy. I fly a M20E and I was wondering what mount do you use for your ipad. Looks like yours has the similar spot for a clock or something like mine has been trying to find something that would work like your setup. Thanks for any help.

    • @Tommyflies
      @Tommyflies  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I custom made a little aluminum plate with a ram mount to take the place of the clock.

    Tear drop entry? You must have not been watching any Dan Gryder videos and his opinion on that entry as dangerous.

    • @Tommyflies
      @Tommyflies  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I explained why I chose that entry in this instance.

      @@Tommyflies AC 90-66C 11.3 "Traffic Pattern Entry. Arriving aircraft should be at traffic pattern altitude and allow for
      sufficient time to view the entire traffic pattern before entering. Entries into traffic
      patterns while descending may create collision hazards and should be avoided. Entry to
      the downwind leg should be at a 45-degree angle abeam the midpoint of the runway to be
      used for landing. Aircraft should always enter the pattern at pattern altitude, especially
      when flying over midfield and entering the downwind directly. See Appendices A, B,
      Glider Operations, and C, Parachute Operations, for additional traffic pattern entry
      details."
      Low-wing/High-wing collisions happen precisely because aircraft don't remain at the same altitude when in the traffic pattern. There are plenty of examples to look at on TH-cam, including several close calls.
      Also, something else to note, not all aircraft have transponders and some will not show up on your foreflight. The airfield I fly out of us has a lot of aircraft without any sort of radios, making visiual scanning and awareness that much more important.
      Just something to think about.

      @@alexc5449 I hate having these conversations online because it always sounds like you’re being combative (which I’m not) but here goes…technically I entered the pattern on the downwind on a 45 at pattern altitude. I was also listening to the radio and looking out the window so wasn’t relying on foreflight (even think I mentioned having the traffic in sight…). I don’t particularly care for teardrop entries for what I think are the same reasons you’re siting but in this case it was what I thought to be the safest option. Plenty more to say on the subject but alas this is one of the limitation of having these convos on YT. Blue skies ✌️

      @@Tommyflies Not trying to be combative, sorry you took it that way. Just looking out for my fellow pilots. I'm sure you know about the high-wing/low-wing mid air collisions and near misses that happen in and around the traffic pattern. All I'm saying is, radios are nice, but once I started to fly tailwheel and fly at an airfield with multiple tailwheel/vintage aircraft that don't use transponders or have radios, and maybe one day you will too, you'll understand exactly what I'm talking about. I was just trying to explain some of the reasoning behind the AC, in the very limited way that I can on YT. Stay safe.
