However, he later transcended the form and broke onto cubism, etc.
Marling and Cahill and Batmanglij were writing and making films together long before she wanted to get into roles. In fact, the whole going to Hollywood thing was Batmanglij's idea, not even hers. She's now acting opposite the likes of Richard Gere and Ellen Page, instead of "paying her dues" doing something like being an extra who gets killed in a torture porn movie.
She did take a turn in the grind of Hollywood as an actress for a while, but yes she had worked with Zal and Mike before and turned to them again to make satisfying things where Hollywood wasn't offering.
Forgot to say, it was a fantastic idea for a story, put into the hands of more experienced writers this could've gone places. I do recall something about the lead actress couldn't get into roles so got boyfriend to write a film with her so she could star in it.
Naomi Allen She does state something like that in an interview but it was more like she didn't like the roles out there for women but I think they had already been writing together along with her other co-writer from College. I think all 3 are brilliant and I appreciate her honest authentic talent. More experienced writers may and more $$ may have ruined it. I think have dated a bit but does not have a ongoing relationship from my understanding...BTW have you watched the OA? It's brilliant!!! All my opinion and perception 👍😊
Naomi Allen PS - you should watch her Georgetown speech - it gives a play by play on her journey and relationships with Mike and Zal. Just a suggestion- it's really inspiring!

I hope young girls are not admiring this. How many lines did you actually write in this movie? Perhaps in your parallel universe you actually have a real job working real accomplishments. You’re Lucky? Working with Tom Cruises first cousin was not an accomplishment to most of us in this universe.
