The Handmaid's Tale // All of Them Dreams [2x09]

I know you're probably tired of me editing The Handmaid's Tale and Nick and June but I only have inspiration to edit this show and I'm loving it. I think this song is so calm that it constrast to the content of the video, kind of trying to make people from the outside believe that Gilead is amazing and organized when it actually is hell. The focus is the way the people in Gilead treat women. All of them. I'm so uncomfortable watching these scenes because, well... Do I really need to say it? The way women are treated in Gilead is revolting. They can't read, they can't work with what they want, they get raped over and over and over, they get beaten up, they can't fall in love or have friends or make a family. That's just the way things are. Women are in Gilead to serve the men. All of them. The wifes are some kind of consolation prize, they can't do anything except things they don't have to be smart to do. The Marthas are there to serve them and obbey and the Handmaids are there to get raped and pregnant with the man's child, which she'll have no contact with afterwards. And they justify all that by saying "it's God's words". I mean THAT'S INSANE. That is so wrong in so many levels. It makes me wonder how people think that women are inferior to men, I don't get it, really. What is it with men that makes them able to do anything and want anything? Why do they feel like they control everything and everyone? We're still living in a heterosexual-cisgender-men's world but we're trying to change it. We will change it. There will be a day when all human beings will have the same rights. I believe that. And shows like this get us thinking about serious issues that we need to keep an eye on and do something to fix it.

I mean you already got me hooked in the video with tom rosenthal alone soo... that went well emotionally and spiritually lol. But honestly to add to what you have said, last year I took this humanity course in uni where we started studying Aristotle and for someone that's claimed to be philosophical he was the *stupidest* man I have ever heard in my life. He argued many things but one thing that stayed with me is his statement that men's sperm carried life itself while the women like here in the handmaid's tale are the carrier or the "oven" for this sperm and therefore that's why men are generally more superior to women because they have more heat in their body/penis (the ability to erect) and some other nonsense rubbish that I can't remember. When I first heard it from my professor and then actually read his shit I was *SHOCKED* more than anything then I just start laughing because what exactly do we expect from these men who create the most cynical explanations for their own disgusting fetish selves just make their little small ass dignity feel better. sorry, girl, Idk why I'm writing a paragraph about my experience in uni but what you said in your description kinda triggered my memories.
