In this episode of Skul the Hero Slayer, I'll be getting absurdly lucky with an Act 1 Part 1 Reaper, and therefore sending his stats straight to the moon! Reaper is skull who scales based on his souls mechanic, which whenever you kill an enemy they have a chance to have their soul ripped from them, which Reaper steals to enhance his abilities and scale his damage%. For every 1 soul gained, 1% Magic Damage is also gained, for every 50 souls his abilities are enhanced, up to 3 times at 150 souls. This makes Reaper extremely formidable when it comes to gaining foul amounts of damage, and his abilities are strong to boot, so he's really the whole package. However, what really stands out with Reaper is his swap, which gives him plenty of i-frames for dodging enemy attacks as well as for every enemy killed by his swap attack, you get a GUARANTEED soul, plus the chance of the regular soul as well, so you don't have to just rely on luck for reaping souls, you can guarantee it too. Getting reaper earlier results in even more power earned since you're reaping enemy souls from the jump, and Acts 1 and 2 tend to have a lot of small enemies spammed everywhere. If you get the right maps, you can gain dozens of damage% in one single room. Our goal for this run is to do all we can, within reason of course, to get Reaper's damage% sky high! Joined by Grave Digger, a perfect complimentary skull for our boy, can these two scale so high that the end game gauntlet FOOLS can't even DARE to stand a chance?
Alright, two things:
First, here's the mod install tutorial I said I'd pin: th-cam.com/users/shortsu5bNU1jxMYQ
Also, I made comments near the end of the run about Artifact 6 not doing anything, but after watching the footage I noticed it was actually proccing a lot, so I take it back lol. Just wanted to bring that up since I imagine some comments would be made.
The reaper comes up to you with a necromancer in tow. Sounds like a “___ and ___ walk into a bar” joke. It’s not. And they’re here. For you.
ayy finally a reaper run you lucky bastard
Holy, I didn’t even know you could stop dark skul from ulting, also if you’re paying any attention at all you can see how much gravy summons are doing while reaper is out especially with the invisible knives, this was a two skull effort
Reaper do be like that being a literal force of nature
ALL of MT strongest runs were Also early reaper runs
What a great fkin run

Day 56 of asking haxa to use deicide
I was the hate stone hater. You only needed it for artifact 6, which you didn’t need, and yeah revenge is good but very unnecessary on this run
First of all, viewing one run and concluding it wasn't necessary here isn't a solid way to view things, because Artifact 6 wasn't necessary here and was for fun, but if it were Artifact 2 and Revenge 2 with Hate Stone and Torn Voodoo Doll then it'd not only have been powerful, but efficient at benchmarking two powerful inscriptions.
Also, don't view revenge from my perspective as a 2,500+ hour player, or also if you're a seasoned player yourself from your perspective either, since the more you play the less you need to rely on defensive inscriptions in general, but view Revenge as a learning player tool. Hate Stone has two essential run building inscriptions on it that scale into all archetypes and gives dense damage scaling that's easily attainable on the item itself too. The items you brought up and said it was a crime Hate Stone is above are powerful for sure, but are more centralized into their own specific archetypes and aren't universally appealing items, which isn't a bad thing but Hate Stone can be thrown onto any Artifact build and do decent work. This is stuff I already told you, but it's the accurate way to tier something like this.
If you aren't convinced then there isn't much else I can say, but I do like trying to explain the reasons I do what I do regardless. Tier lists ultimately are more a way for me to just podcast style lay out my thoughts than anything, and while I stand by my rankings minus obviously items here and there that fall through the cracks when you rank 200+ items from left to right, I also don't fault too much people who think differently. If you don't personally value Revenge because you don't personally use it, that's cool too.
