How marvelous to see this beautiful old machine brought back to functionality! Great work - you must have quite a collection of donor machines too.

Thank you! I have had my Husky since 1977 or so and it's got some problems. Yesterday I bought a 'donor machine' for $20 and I am so excited to think I might get my lovely girl back to life!

Its a shame to see a machine 98% there end up in the graveyard because of a couple plasic gears. Great to see you bring this back to life!

Thanks for rescuing this heirloom! "It belonged to the mother of the owner" -- and so it is with me. But my mother traded in her old Viking for a fancy new Viking. I would have loved to have the old one. Lots of memories of mom using it.

I just got mine from a goodwill for 14.49 doesn't come with power cable but I did order one from ebay. had to compare photos between the oem port and the replacement from a website and then the ebay listing and that matched. for less than 27 bucks compared to getting it new for 80 bucks. I used pb blaster to kind of lubricate the ceased components and that worked. no rust so thats a good sign. I do plan on replacing the bulb with an led that is strong enough to illuminate my workspace.

Very detailed...thank you. You mentioned having a spare up-take leaver mech "in stock"...is it possible that you stock a variety of Husqvarna parts OR that you can point me to a source for a 'fixed cam' for my Model 2000 Colormatic, please?...maybe your theory about damaging temperature changes as the bulb heats and cools has done for my machine?

The most informative and helpful video- thankyou. Loved the commutation clean tip. My cam knob is stuck in zigzag. It's a really clean machine with no broken parts that I can see. Everyone seems to have problems with reverse and stitch length knobs. Mine are working. The cam knob seems locked, not just stiff. I tried your spring screw thing with the finger using the thread trick. Is it possible it's not in that groove? Would that cause this or something else? I have the machine as apart as I can but I feel I am missing something basic and am afraid if I go too far I will never get it back together!!😂

I just got one of these home from the thrift store. They asked me to try if it worked and then we could agree on a price if I wanted it. So I will clean it , oil it and try it. Where do I oil it? Do I oil it? There is no manual

Hi there, thank you so much for this video! I’m in the process of restoring a 6440 also and the last problem I can’t seem to fix is the pattern formation on patterns that use involve forwards and reverse fabric feeding. The fabric doesn’t move correctly and the stitches end up stacking. My straight stitch, zigzag and simple patterns all work, so does my reverse stitch when i’m using the button! Please let me know if you have any ideas at what i should look at next!

My reverse button moves in and I have to pull it out with no tension behind it. Is it supposed to have a spring action of some kind? Do you ever forget what goes where? LOL. Thanks.

      @sailingtessbesssewfarnorth1746  ปีที่แล้ว

Yes I do forget, I have to look at a machine sometimes to remind myself.
Your reverse should come out on its own, it will need some oiling of the machanism.

Please do not throw away these old machines they are mechanical and the parts just need replacing. I keep using my mother's 1970 machine and it does just fine if not it has continued to surprise and outlive any of the current day ones. Do not exclude 3d printers .I have used 3d printers to save many old pieces. You can use scanning software/tech to scan a workable item or quickly generate one your self i you can get down to the mm measurements.

I came across this video because I was just looking up info about my machine as my 27 year old granddaughter is interested in sewing now.
I am still using regularly my 6440, bought new when they came out in ‘70’s, and then got the cabinet for it which opens to both sides and with drawers on both sides. My machine needed that plastic cam stack replacing done, good as new now. My hubby and I got married in 1962 and raised 5 children and this machine has done lots and lots of sewing, making clothing, doing reupholstery, on our furniture, making lots of Halloween costumes, making drapes, and other items for the house! I now don’t do as much sewing, but I still have things to repair, and actually make from scratch because we have 13 grandkids, 11 of them living right close by me. I have teenagers sweat pant pockets to mend….

      On my Husky 6030 model:
Facing machine, the side to your left has a lever on back, underneath. Slide it down and presto! Cover comes off, no screws.
Back side left end (facing machine to YOUR left), tiny screw. Right side, bigger screw. That is the back end.

@@rimmersbryggeri I got one of these machines yesterday with the same problems. It took 2 minutes to free the knobs using a hair dryer set to hot and a squirt of WD-40. You need to take the side panel off below the handwheel and aim the hair dryer towards the internal knob mechanism.

Thank you for a very good video (apart from the music). Excellent demo and super helpful for my jammed model 6030.
Please do not add any music to a DIY or demo channel. My ears are hurting.
Camera behind you is blocking the view of the camstack assembly which I badly needed to see. Move camera as needed.
